Red Rooms was such a fascinating watch. I still don't know how to feel about this movie and what exactly it was trying to do, but it was certainly an interesting experience.
Wouldnt say any of these are underrated, but definitely under watched! Is it just me or is horror quickly becoming the best genre out there the last 10 years? So, SO many quality films coming out of this space!
Great list. I haven't heard of several of them. My favorites so far this year are Longlegs, Late night with the devil, Strange Darlings, Oddity, and Abigal.
Glad to see you back with a list! I definitely added some of your picks to my letterboxd watchlist!! Strange Darling’, ‘Red Rooms’ and ‘Smile 2’ are my favorite horror films this year! 🎉🎉🎉
Oddity was great. Watched it on your previous recommendation, so thank you. Great cast & acting, but the lead, wow, she was fantastic. Especially love the scene where the guy is outside the door trying to help the wife. Damn you're cool. Dont know if anyones told you that yet today
Thanks for this!! I was starving for new horror movies to check out for October. I’d also like to see a video on some underrated horror book recommendations. 👀 Haven’t seen those from you in a while!
I thought I'll comment "Saw everything" as I was hunting the horror flicks of this year but surprisingly haven't watched 5 horror films out of these. It's actually an underrated list. Although as of now Exhuma is my favourite horror film of the year and I have watched oddity and it stands as the 3rd just after Longlegs. Overall Nice list.
I want to address those who have not seen It’s What’s Inside, or maybe like me you started it and then gave up. I started watching this movie and hated it. The people were obnoxious and annoying so I shut it off. Then I started hearing good things so I tried again and I got further into it but I stopped because it felt like they literally expected us to memorize 8 peoples names AND faces within 20 minutes and I was like….no. THEN, I got pissed at the movies assumption’s on what kind of time I had so….I watched it again. But THIS time I paid attention to everyone’s names and faces and interwoven current and pay relationships and literally memorized it all. Guess what. Great movie. Loved it. Thought about it for days after. Definitely watch it. Also, great list!!
Strange Darling was great. Give Willa Fitzgerald all the awards please. Also shoutout to Kyle Gallner who is cementing himself as this generation's scream king.
Pre-"It Follows" in 2014 I had no interest in horror. So far this year my top five includes four horror: 2) Oddity, 3) Longlegs; 4: Strange Darling; 5) The Substance
Strange Darling is a movie that will not age well because apart from the great acting and good cinematography, it doesn’t have much more going for it. I sat with it and the more I think about it, the more I dislike it.
I don't want to watch Infested because I LIKE spiders! Sort of. Usually they're too small for me to see how scary they look and it's fun to watch a spider wrapping up an annoying buzzing turd bird.
US release of Red Rooms was so confusing. finally released on digital only at the beginning of this month. felt like it should have been released when it was getting some buzz last year.
i'm curious why nobody mentions STRANGE DARLING'S subtext, which is pretty gross. [spoiler alert] it's subtext-- and the whole story is based around consent, and circles around to it several times-- is that women shouldn't be believed when they say they've been r^ped. not only does it come up in monologues, but the entire structure is about taking the audience's assumptions and using it against it. and it's consistent from start to finish. yes, it's an incredibly slick, beautifully made candy confection, but what's underneath? disgusting. i've seen the movie 3 times, hoping i was wrong, but every time i viewed it, it only became more clear, this was exactly want the movie had to say.
Several of these films I never heard anyone talk about and were not well advertised. Soooooo they actually are underrated. Hollywood puts crazy money into pushing a lot of dumb horror movies and the good ones go under the radar and gain a audience by word of mouth.
@phongthehun1721 None of these have an average rating above 3.9 on Letterboxd (most are 3.5 or lower) and all except 2 are under 7/10 on IMDB. All deserve higher ratings. None of them have mainstream popularity, most of them are under 100k views on either website. Yes, they're all underrated and underwatched. But please, share your own, clearly superior list.

The actors in Strange Darling are putting on a clinic. Some of the best performances of the year.
Wdym by clinic?
@@AstralAustin It's an expression that essentially means they're teaching an advanced acting class.
Great list. I haven't heard of several of them. My favorites so far this year are Longlegs, Late night with the devil, Strange Darlings, Oddity, and Abigal.
I'm so excited to watch multiple films from this list. I'm planning on watching Strange Darling tonight! Thanks for this list!
I've watched Strange Darling times in theaters so far. So yea, trust Marianna folks, its really that damn good.
Glad to see you back with a list! I definitely added some of your picks to my letterboxd watchlist!! Strange Darling’, ‘Red Rooms’ and ‘Smile 2’ are my favorite horror films this year! 🎉🎉🎉
Strange Darling is my favorite movie of the year right now, I've seen it twice and it gets better somehow.
Strange Darling is probably the best movie I've watched all year.
Oddity was great. Watched it on your previous recommendation, so thank you. Great cast & acting, but the lead, wow, she was fantastic. Especially love the scene where the guy is outside the door trying to help the wife. Damn you're cool. Dont know if anyones told you that yet today
Now we talking! Come thru Strange Darling and It's What's Inside!
Thank you for these recs!! Tbh I feel this year has been very bad for film but hearing about these movies gives me hope to find good movies
Honestly, I’ve been underwhelmed by the movies this year myself, but horror has been really good
Thanks for this!! I was starving for new horror movies to check out for October. I’d also like to see a video on some underrated horror book recommendations. 👀 Haven’t seen those from you in a while!
Strange Darling was awesome, and Oddity terrified the ever-living shit out of me! I will put the rest on my watch list. Thanks!

Thank you so much

Kyle Gallner is such an underused actor, need him in more/bigger movies!
@@ImpressionBlend Same with Willa. Both of them should be household names.
I sadly just missed Strange Darling in theatres. Can't wait to watch it though!
I did too, but watching it at home did NOT disappoint - exceeded all of my expectations.
For Resident Evil fan, there is a Mr X in Exhuma lol
Not gonna lie, the second you said "spiders," I utterly wussed out on looking at the screen. Ugh!
Pre-"It Follows" in 2014 I had no interest in horror. So far this year my top five includes four horror: 2) Oddity, 3) Longlegs; 4: Strange Darling; 5) The Substance
First! I will be watching the ones I haven't. Very good list, Marianna. 😊
Thank you! Enjoy 😈
@@ImpressionBlendWait, I have not seen any of these lol. Now I gotta check em out for sure.

Agreed! I'm not sure why they just dumped it on VoD quietly, it's such an amazing film
Candy Land (2023) is preeeetty Horrific.
Good choices.
Please do a review for Terrifier 3, I beg of you!🙏😁
Where is Milk & Serial available?
RUclips
Red rooms was dissapointing for me, Strange Darlling-interesting
Oddity was pretty good
... I spend a lot of your videos trying to determine if your hair is that colour or is it the light :)
I have an LED light that can be any color so I change it when I feel like it)))
@@ImpressionBlend .. ha. Thank you. Oh, by the way, I really dig your underrated lists :)

Hello there
no Imaginary and Night Swim???
None of these films you mentioned are "Underrated"..they are all highly praised by both critics and audience
Several of these films I never heard anyone talk about and were not well advertised. Soooooo they actually are underrated. Hollywood puts crazy money into pushing a lot of dumb horror movies and the good ones go under the radar and gain a audience by word of mouth.
