- I can't believe I've been living in England for 6 YEARS! WOW! Time flies. This week I'm reacting to some of my most embarrassing and cringey old RUclips videos! lol As a Canadian living in England, it's hard to imagine how much I've changed as a person - but what a wonderful experience it's been so far!

Hey! I'm Alanna - a twenty-something documenting my life as a Canadian living in England.
I share the ups and downs of an expat living abroad and what it's really like living in the UK. It's not always easy, but there's been so many wonderful experiences, too. You moved 1000's of miles for love, to another country, despite being young & anxious, but still had the guts to do it.
You invited us to share the journey, the highs & lows, & never asked for anything, we cheered your highs & cried with you on the lows.
You didn't ever need a script, you did your own thing, & gave us all these years of laughing along, whilst becoming 'family'.
Congratulations for everything so far Alanna, & best wishes for all your future Adventures & Naps! 🙏

I haven't searched for it, that'll be left to you, but the video that will forever be in my head - and not for personal reasons, luckily - is the one you made (I'm sure there's only one) on how to handle and cope with anxiety. My favourite video has got to be you dropping the all the crackers on the floor in the cheese taste video,your face was a picture. I started watching when you sat in that dark room with white rings in your eyes.Listening to you talking about whatever bee is in your bonnet is entertaining and strangely compelling,it helped greatly in the months when I was stuck in bed with a severely broken leg.I look forward to next Tuesday to see what happens next,til then Byee!.

I was one of those in at the start of your meteoric rise. Not much has changed, really. You're still the same sweet young thing. You've put on a little weight, but you look better for it.

Been here since the old old days! I still love the taste tests in the office! That loud staircase or something you would mention in between reviews. It was like all of us grabbing a break for fun at our own jobs. How fun to look back!!! Cheers!

Growth is always evocative to see and reflect on; I knew you were different back then, but it's insane to see just how much.
Without being too selfish, I inevitably reflected on my own journey a bit as I tried to recall where I was when I watched each of your vids.
I can't remember when I first discovered your vids, but I remember how they cheered me up and still do.

Don't be embarrassed, they are all variations of Alanna - and we love you so what's to be embarrassed about ?! As you say it's very interesting that your 'brand' was established early on and has persisted so it clearly works. 122k subscribers can't be wrong ! Congrats on 6 years, here's to the next 60.
I think the March 2018 differences between England & Canada is what introduced me to your channel by the magic of RUclips algorithms and it must have been the same for a lot of people back then, which is why that video picked up so many hits.
Personally i used regularly watch videos on foreigners views of the British but you are the only one i stuck with or subscribed to.
Anyway congratulations on the 6 years, here's to the next 6?!?

As well as your voice seeming deeper, your inflection has changed to a more British inflection; in the early video you seemed to be going 'up' towards the end of a sentence like they do in the States and Australia.

Oh Alanna, this is such a brill' video - thanks for doing it - I bet it wasn't easy! Seeing and hearing yourself from the past never is! This ranks as one of my all time favourites now!
Otherwise, about my favourite moment was when you shared opening your travel visa result when you were back in Canada. It was so genuine and real and visceral .

Such a great video, so many people hate seeing and hearing themselves :) can't believe how different you looked back then, i think a big part of it was the way you had your hair, which shown more of the sides of your head, where as later the hair is more forward.
All of your videos bring on a feel good factor, Alanna!
I remember some videos you did in a long room, maybe the downstairs of a house, with a fireplace down the side(?) and you ate lots of British food. Also liked the ones in a bedroom, i think in Canada, with 2 lamps by the bed (your parents room i think) and you ate lots of Timbits? Also liked your corner sofa days in your old flat. Wow what a journey you/we've been on. When are you going to hold a party or a meet and greet? Or make Alanna: The Movie!

...also (I'm writing this as I'm watching this video lol) I have loved watching your channel grow over the years and you get more used to it, more of a pro and your catchphrases etc. Like: "LET'S GO!" (which I find I now do with you everytime I watch your new videos lol I'm sad hehehe) but I remember that dark red living room that you used to film in so that means I must of been watching your channel since 2017 as you didn't have loads of videos then. Hey alanna you have cheered me up no end over the years please do some more cooking videos always has me laughing i finish work at my dreary job in a petrol station come home on a tuesday and tune in perfect! Oh and pop the chomp bar in the microwave for a tiny bit so its melty and on a cold day magic and its gonna get cold this week!
Don't be embarrassed. I remember watching a lot of those because in 2018 I was preparing to move here and your videos really did give me a lot of help preparing for what it is really like to live here. I've now been here for 2 years. Thank you for having the courage to share your thoughts.

i remember that whats in my kitchen vlog. but the ones that spring to mind are the out of date KD cooking pasta vid "because i'm gross" and then at xmas watching you slowly detoriate while eating mince pies. i think you mentioned that one made you throw up. i'm actually laughing my arse off while typing this. they were funny as f.

On behalf of pioneers in generations to come, thank you, your journey is a testament to your courage and determination , imagine watching your journey as a chronicle of a life long ago if you were from the future, if we have one ? your content will be invaluable, to arrive in another country when not on vacation can be hard and weird, your experience and knowledge gained through these years could help millions to journey and explore. we have lost the courage to explore.
The 1st video I watched was the kitchen video! . I dated an American in 2015/16 so the RUclips algorithm was always recommending foreigners in the UK. Its safe to say my subscription to this channel, has lasted a lot longer than that relationship did lol.
This was some serious Alannaception - me watching you watching old videos of yourself and reminiscing and me being taken back to the time when I was watching them and reminiscing. I remember the first eat this was my initial A&N video as I'd been binging loads of 'Americans Eat British Food' videos and you happened to upload yours - praise the algorithm! Happy 6 years here in England!

I've seen all of these and I don't think you've changed THAT much! OK yes, you've grown a bit and maybe calmed down a smidge but your presentation style and the little asides and stream of consciousness 'scripting' and lack of pretence is unchanged. You're honest and natural and charming. I've enjoyed your videos from the very start and will keep watching until you either stop or annoy me. So don't annoy me! :D
I had no idea I had been subscribed for so long but the Eat This video was the first one you showed that I remember. I particularly like the booze test videos with added burps because I'm childish and it's fun watching you get squiffy. Congrats on 6 years and here's to many more years of A&N. Hugs, Mike

I hadn't realised I had been watching A&N for so long but I remember those old ones with the nose ring and all so I must have. I can also refer the Canadienne reacts to snow video with the Beast from the East. My fave, though has to be the first time cooking Yorkshire Puddings. A lot better than my first attempt.... The first one I saw was the Grill Cheese Sandwich one. I'd never watched this kind of video before; I'd never watched food videos before; I'd never watched any kinda video like that before... but there I was. I remember you saying that the light was rather delicately balanced on something or other. I remember that some of the cheese was mouldy, so you couldn't use it. I also remember your Mom calling you during the recording.... and I've never left. I've never left because you come across as so genuine, in a world of over-processed content. Thank you.

Hello, Alanna. As I recall, I have watched most of your posts since sometime in 2018. You asked for comments about favorites, I have very much liked and enjoyed every one of them, admittedly some to a greater or lesser degree than others. I've been to Toronto four times for conferences over the years so feel some affinity with you in that and I have found your posts about coping with being in England the first time very helpful for when I will get to fulfill a long-time yearning to visit there. This post is my absolute favorite. Over the years I feel that I have gotten to know something of who you are and seeing you then and your reaction to seeing yourself then and your coming to accept yourself then as you did this post was wonderful. You see, you were a fine person then and you still are, just more mature, as you said, and more polished now and, I think that I saw you take a step toward letting go of some perfectionism. Thanks for sharing yourself and your knowledge with all of us and I wish the very best in all you do, including, I hope, more years of Adventures and Naps.
