Englishman here. i have been watching your videos for i think almost 5 or 6 years and its amazing to see how you have changed as a person and how you have settled in to life this side of the pond. I do hope you continue to grow and enjoy yourself, just be you, thats what we like to see.
I’m 58 years old and I still don’t know what I want to do with my life. Don’t get me wrong, I have always worked and provided for myself. And I now help to provide for my family. What’s your point I hear you ask. Some people don’t have ‘The Dream’ or ‘A Goal’. They just go with the flow and if what they are doing right now is making them happy then so be it. Just think where we could be in ten years. Or ten months for that matter. I did the self employed thing for ten years (tree surgery) and I’m over that now. Been there done that. I’m currently working in a kitchen making business. Who knows what else I could be doing. Good luck with your business.
One of the good things about the UK is that you can pack your job in and try to build your own business, but you can still get full healthcare. I stopped working to concentrate on my Etsy Shop and online business and I wasn't really worried about what would happen if any of us got sick. I spent about a year of hand-to-mouth living while the business was growing, but we didn't starve and I got help from social security ( not a fortune, but enough to stop worrying about not starving to death or being thrown out of the house)
One of the most beautiful feelings in life is being able to afford everything you need in life. I have tasted what it means to be b r o ke and I can tell it’s not something you wish for anyone get some ass i st ance. Thanks to Larysa Caba, I don’t have to experience that kind of life anymore. I’m grateful and I will always be.
I feel one Of the greatest challenges that we first timers face in the ma rket is that we end up losing all we have, making it difficult to find ourselves back to our feet. My biggest advice is to always seek the services of a professional just like I did when I ventured into it for the first time. Big thanks to Larysa Caba. I now make huge profits by weekly through her services while still learning to stand on my own.
I think she trades for everyone I meet. I met her twice at a meeting in Germany and after her lectures from Ella I had to personally ask her to be my financial advisor. she is definitely good.
I have never seen a trader as open and transparent as Larysa Caba with her clients. The way she decides to make a profit for her clients. she allows you to express your fears and she still rests your fears and that is my respect. I don't normally comment on videos, but this word should be included. she is really cool.
Hi Alanna. I retired from my last paid employment about 7 years ago, when I was 64. Most of my working life I was an Engineer, doing mechanical design for parts and systems on railway vehicles here in the UK. Sometimes it was dull, but mostly not, because there would usually be a boss around that realised that I was someone they could give all kinds of tasks from the too difficult pile and get something back they could make use of. So I had fun. But I never found out what I wanted to do as a career. Bye!
Its Great to see you making it in the UK. I was born in 1948. Left school at 14, started work in the fish trade and after abot 4 years was offered a job repairind strapping/ banding machine. At age 52 started my own business in the same industry and set up a Ltd company. Ran that business as Engineer salesDirector and Managing Director and retired at age 72. Still here!
(Adventures and Naps) plus (Girl Gone London) are my favourites to watch in the evening and afternoon. Both sound the same in accent, but one is from the country of the Eagle and the other from the country of the Beaver. Love both your story telling.
Hi Alana,During the first lockdown, your Channel, popped up on you tube, for which I’m grateful for,as the vids helped through those tough times,& I’ve been hooked ever since, they are funny, informative, witty,& gives me the munchies, when your food vids appear,so thank you. Also your twitch channel,is great, with a wonderful group,I’m proud to be a member.
I used Fiverr a lot in the US for various tasks-including our lawn care and leaves Highly recommend! Congratulations on your business venture! Wishing you all the success in the world!
Just discovered your channel a few weeks ago. As a Canadian, you give me hope and, more importantly, insight to the whole experience and journey you’re on. For me, your frankness and honesty made me want to see more of you. That and just how real you are. Only advice-be a bit more confident in yourself. Your ‘Waiting for the end’ comment made me laugh but also sad. You deserve the good things. Keep up the great work!
Hi Alanna,I have been following your channel for several years( really?…YES…really)where have the years gone, what I have learned is that you have a willingness to try thing’s outside of your comfort zone and a certain sense of adventure (not sure where the naps comes into play)and the determination to see it through,success..or failure especially with some of your cooking videos.I will continue to watch them as long as you are happy enough to make them, even if I am an old geezer 🤣🤣.Thank you, cheers,Roly🇬🇧
Hi Alanna, I hope you're doing well. I wanted to offer a small piece of advice: it might be a good idea to hold off on discussing your future business plans with others for now. There are unfortunately some people who might not have your best interests at heart. Sometimes it's better to take action first and then share your plans once things are in motion. Wishing you all the best with everything!
Thank you for the reality check. You have been spot on. Enjoy what life will bring to you. Great vision. Good luck to you in life’s journey.. God bless.

Great video. Working in a foreign country can be very daunting. I have worked in Toronto as an British expat for over 7 years so i can relate to your plight. It can be tough but it puts things into perspective. I found your channel by accident a few years ago and have been slowly catching up with alot of your videos from the past and enjoying your insights in living and working in the UK as a Canadian.
So true! Working from home is a new experience for me just since moving, and I feel I don’t see people anymore 😂 Come do an adventure to Edinburgh! We’d be happy to do a video with you and show you our favourites. Also agreed, content creators is an awful term ha.

I worked there for seven years before I moved on. Love the channel, keep making the money and enjoying yourself. PS I live on the border of Kent and London.
Hi, I have been watch your channel for a few years. I am from the UK but live in the USA now. listening to this vidio about your Edenbridge product it made me think did you name it after the plce in Kent? I only know this place because my late brother lived there, his wife still does, in a very old house. I wish you good fortune with your business, I am sure you will do well.
I'm glad you're still happy making these videos because I look forward to watching them. I think we all know that what you miss from 9-5 jobs is the B-word - banter! I expect your banter skills have come on massively since that first job. Thanks, Alanna.

Good luck to you, my daughter (child number 3 of 4) starts her first full time job in two weeks. She will be an interesting watch, get the feeling she’ll be doing something completely different in 10 years time.
Can’t believe I’ve watched you from the college and bus days!! I never had big dreams either as many people don’t and I’ve been quite happy and able to live a full fun life. So ya don’t have to have big dreams to be happy!
It's 440 in the morning here in Purley Surrey UK and I think I'm going to take your advice / hint literally and get myself a hot drink if that's okay with you Alana . Even though it won't be anything as nice a pumpkin spiced latte Ma'am. I'll be back in a moment. I just had to refresh my Cup of English Tea and a bowl of Cheerios . I'm sure you understand .
Think you've done really well moving to another Country and Finding a job Alanna .Starting your RUclips channel. Good luck with everything you do .I've certainly enjoyed watching you experience life in the UK..
Hey... you shouldn't worry about the end. You just need an exit plan. Somethng that will happen if it does end, but you needn't worry, you're doing good and the camera likes you (unlike me) :) I like your little adventures out and about, so keep diversifying, try new things and some things will click and others won't. Loved the video Alanna, interesting to hear your experience of becoming self employed. When I left school I went to work for someone and after a year I became self employed. 40 odd years later I couldn't imagine working for somebody else now, I just love the freedom to choose what I do and when I do it. I hope A&N and Edenbridge goes from strength to strength in the future. 😊
Congratulations on making it all work ... and thanks for all the great memories. You are now part of British Culture and life would be rather boring without you around. Keep up the great work.
Subbed your channel when you had about 10,000 subs and have enjoyed watching you and your channel grow a lot! and my favourite content of your's has always been your taste testing alcohol I sit there with a big stupid smile on my face all the way thru that type on content! so keep up the work Lass you got this!
My wife & I were watching your video & we were just wondering, what was your reasons for coming to the UK in the 1st place? We both thought it was job related but hearing your story, it was not that, so we were just curious why? ( could maybe make a good future video perhaps )
You're back on form now Alanna. I wasn't very keen on that ghost video (it seemed like a video posted just for the sake of posting something) but this one is on a par with all your others. Go girl and I hope you don't mind the friendly criticism.
Ahh good because I thought you were going to say that you were going to stop making your videos great 👍🏼 that you are continuing with your videos thank you
As important as knowing what you would like to do is the notion of knowing what you _don't_ want to do. Best thing about being self-employed is you get to work half-days, and you can choose which twelve hours they are. 11:12 love to see a photo of Gremling Alanna - can I get one for Halloween?
Hey Alanna - hope you see this. Regarding business - just wanted to say I agree your goals are very achievable. A close friend of mine started one in cosmetics, with a small loan, it's now worth a few million. So maybe one more data point if you ever get doubts. I'm also starting my first start-up, and I can't emphasise how valuable it is to see business owners be open about how things are going - it helps both emotionally and also as a learning. So I hope you continue to post business updates :-) One more thing - for my business I am considering starting a channel (to promote the business, not to make money) - perhaps something to consider for your own brand. Would be interested to follow if you go down that route.
visit The Shell Grotto is a highly decorated subterranean passageway in Kent, England. Almost all the surface area of the walls and roof is covered in mosaics created entirely of seashells, totaling about 4.6 million shells.
I wanted to! But apparently they reserve the right own all the rights to all footage taken there - photo and video - and the ability to use it/manipulate it the way they want to 😬 so it's a pass for me!
This was a very good business video. I would be curious to hear the strengths and weaknesses of UK business after the Budget. Our host is now a venture capitalist. 😊
For the longest time I understood. "My name is Alana, and I am a comedian". And I thought: Yeah, she has great humour, but I also understand that being a comedian is not something you are 100% of the time. I now know better now and still see you as a comedian that talks about normal stuff.
Something good about your channel is the name, Adventure and Naps. Why? Because of a silly reason, for me, it starts with "A", so, when I try to go back to watch it, it's easy to remember, I have bad memory.
Good stuff. Perhaps as an idea, along the lines of diversification, you might want to share your 'lessons learned' on the dos and don'ts of starting up your own business in the UK. Never started one myself, though might have to as I quit my job and have just returned from 2 months backpacking around various countries in continental western Europe. It was a sabbatical. Tomorrow, it's unemployment.
I wanted to give you an idea, as your such a deserving 'foreigner', had you thought of expanding your product range with scented soaps or candles. I watch boring geopolitics and economic videos for investment purposes and yours are a delightful breath of fresh air...no scent though :(. By the by ( I never use this phrase but it slipped into my mind and I thought you might like it!), I studied chemistry to degree level and one of the sections was natural product chemistry where we analysed Menthol, Limonene and I had Rose oil. The major component chemicals in the oils had to be isolated by distilling fractions and identified. I loved the smells.
Interesting video. I can relate to the anxiety of the unknown and the future in terms of employment. It is stressful. One thing from your video is you have not explained WHY you left Canada in the first place. Also, you say you have a partner. Is he just a business partner or a life partner? I only ask because in several bits of the video you said you suffered from being lonely - which confused me.
I've also worked as a temp worker to get my foot in the door, and that was as a US citizen trying to find work in my home country. The temp agencies help people and there is no shame in letting them help you!

I love watching your videos. Your quirky humour is addictive.

Great video Alanna thanks! You and the Butler obviously make a great team, to build a business like this.
Thank you!
Hi Alanna,
I hope you're doing well.
God bless.
Well done, onwards and upwards. May your success continue in your many ventures and adventures.
Thank you so much!

Temp agencies can be VERY useful in some circumstances... In 2014, I had been out of work for around 4 years (and prior to that, my last three roles had been telesales/telemarketing, which I had proven a) not enjoy, and b) not be great at), and I wanted to get back into something more admin focused, but my CV made me look like a "salesman"...
Getting signed up for temp gigs in more admin-focused roles allowed me to move my CV away from the "salesman" look, and allowed me to start adding new roles to distance myself away from the gap in my CV - which was only there largely because I was severely distracted from jobseeking by my mother's cancer battle.

I appreciate that, thank you! ☺️
Awesome to hear about your continuing journey and some of your ah ha moments - you're doing a great job !
I'm a day late to this video because I'm on day 20/23 in a row and work has been insane.
I just wanted you to know that I have admired you for literal years. As a long time viewer, I think you're so brave and I wish I'd been more like you in my young adulthood.
Never leave the house without applying my Edenbridge fragrance. My favourite is Chartwell.
Love your channel and love your honesty, keep up your adventures and naps 😊
I totally get the anxiety of being self-employed and the work drying up, and I'm not really the kind of person who worries about things too much. So well done for sticking with it, and giving the diverse aspects of A&N a try.
Alanna, I have never seen anyone who has aged as gracefully as you!
Anyone else when the back videos popped up were like me “remember that” for all of them 😂. Keep pushing forwards Alana you got this ❤
I once worked with a bloke from Germany. He told me that one of the owners of the company had told him that they didn't think he was going to stick around because they thought he was "just a backpacker". He worked for the company longer than I did.
As long as you keep making videos, I will keep watching. Look forward to your videos in the next 20 years!!!!
When you said that both you and your partner were 'both interested in scents and...' I honestly expected the next word to be sensibility!
If you're me, it's more like Sense and Senility these days.
You’ve changed us all too… for the better. Thanks Alanna - see you in the next one! ❤️👍😎✅
Good for you, you're the reason I watch your channel. Cheers from the Pacific West Coast of Canada.
Your mission Alanna is to find some situation where twiglets & marmite are enjoyable! I appreciate you're still searching! Good luck & thanks for the laughs! 🙏🙏

So I hope you continue to post business updates :-)
One more thing - for my business I am considering starting a channel (to promote the business, not to make money) - perhaps something to consider for your own brand. Would be interested to follow if you go down that route.
Thanks for sharing ❤
Have a nice day.
visit The Shell Grotto is a highly decorated subterranean passageway in Kent, England.
Eight years is really not a long time and to achieve all that you have in that short span is something to be proud of...🇨🇦🇬🇧
Thanks Steve!!
Alans videos are always interesting.
Nice Video.
I still think you would look awesome pootling along on a vesper moped..
This is your best "content" to date.
This was a very good business video. I would be curious to hear the strengths and weaknesses of UK business after the Budget. Our host is now a venture capitalist. 😊
Absolutely love your content! X
I knew it the moment I saw you...all those years ago, that you'd turn out to be a contributor, and a great addition to our country.
Great video Alanna! It was interesting learning about your uk work life :-)
Thanks so much! 😊
For the longest time I understood. "My name is Alana, and I am a comedian". And I thought: Yeah, she has great humour, but I also understand that being a comedian is not something you are 100% of the time. I now know better now and still see you as a comedian that talks about normal stuff.
Great video thanks for your content 👍
Something good about your channel is the name, Adventure and Naps. Why? Because of a silly reason, for me, it starts with "A", so, when I try to go back to watch it, it's easy to remember, I have bad memory.
Good stuff. Perhaps as an idea, along the lines of diversification, you might want to share your 'lessons learned' on the dos and don'ts of starting up your own business in the UK. Never started one myself, though might have to as I quit my job and have just returned from 2 months backpacking around various countries in continental western Europe. It was a sabbatical. Tomorrow, it's unemployment.
The Skyrim ambience music is great, as is the Fallout 3 one as well
Have you submitted your fragrances to the Office for Product Safety and Standards? Just checking.
Thanks
Thank you!
wishing you only the best
Interesting video. I can relate to the anxiety of the unknown and the future in terms of employment. It is stressful.
One thing from your video is you have not explained WHY you left Canada in the first place. Also, you say you have a partner. Is he just a business partner or a life partner?
I only ask because in several bits of the video you said you suffered from being lonely - which confused me.
I’ve been onto your website it’s pretty good in my opinion.
Hi from a Brit in Florida... Been here 20 years now, and starting to get homesick.. How is the UK nowadays?? Enjoy your video's....
Oh - it’s all fine and dandy 😂
@@bordersw1239 You don't make it sound fine and dandy LOL Whats going on over their?
Like I said - Excellent....
Thanks so much ☺️
I've also worked as a temp worker to get my foot in the door, and that was as a US citizen trying to find work in my home country. The temp agencies help people and there is no shame in letting them help you!
