Just got my first job flying BE99s in Alaska and this is unit we have in the planes. I am from Monroe so it was really good to see this video and be reminded of home!

This model was discontinued a while back. Does anyone know how long the database updates will be supported? I am looking at buying one of these.

There are still many 530's in operation, so I would guess (and hope) that it'll be another couple of years. However, give Garmin a call for the official answer. If you don't mind, reply with their response. I'm curious to hear their official position on the sunset plan of the 530/430.

How about one for IFR, in particular changes in route by ATC!

Here is my Garmin 530W class more geared towards the IFR stuff. Cheers! ruclips.net/video/PgmcK7gMNYY/видео.html

This simulator does NOT work on newer computers running Windows 10.

You might not be a "mouse guy", but in this context the mouse is necessary for your students to know what inputs you are using! Your ease of use for the trainer is taking away from the purpose of the trainer (to use the real deal).

I don't disagree with you opinion and you have a valid point. I tried both, but personally found clicking the mouse on the screen at the precise location on the picture to be very frustrating. Mouse clicks require the sim user to actually look at the button, hover and click. But when you're really using a 530, you go off of tactile feel and the haptic feedback - you don't look at the knobs, you look at the screen and feel the knobs. So I gave a slight edge to the keystroke interface, warts and all. But whichever interface viewers prefer, whether it's mouse clicks or key strokes, it's clear that there is no substitute for actually having a real 530 with concentric knobs to interface with. Thanks for your comment!

Wow, I've never heard anybody use "uh & um" so much in what is supposed to be a lesson video. Very poor presentation.
