I didn't want to read it for those reasons too, but when I reached the end of the first book, I couldn't stop talking about it. And it doesn't have an all-female cast, there are significant male characters, and even an LGBT romance (yay bring in the diverse YA!) though all the main characters are female.
I really dislike the marketing for this series tho I liked the first 8 chapters of the book - I will read it, hell I've preordered the 2nd but what's with the Barbie voice? I think it's a disservice to make it sound cheap and shallow when I felt like the book was trying to say more about wealth and privilege than glorify it

For me, there was a few sensitive subjects going on that made me uncomfortable at times and in the second book there was a few as well. Overall this is a great series that has many twists and turns. If you are a lover of the dramatic, romantic, devastating, nature of books than this is for you.
I loved the The Thousandth Floor, it's one of my favorites. I cannot wait for The Dazzling Heights! I'm going to reread book 1 in preparation next week. :D
Oh by the gods, I need to talk about this SOMEWHERE! I saw book 2 at Barns n Noble and I was just staring at it, almost drooling! I thought: NO! I can't buy this, or it won't feel right without the other. So after mentally crying giving up not getting Thunderhead(Scythe book 2) autographed by the author, I got the Anniversary edition of the Book Thief. (I hope I don't regret it. That autographed book...I really wanted to just steal it)
When they said 'wait until you meet Calliope', I felt that this trailer was like an intro to a reality show. And I keep hearing the name Leda at 0:31 as 'Deleda'.
Okay? Ive been watching a lot of these book trailers and im not against female protagonist or anything but why cant there be a male one?, like every booktuber that describes the synopsis mostly begins with, "its about this girl.....".
I feel like the book trailer was lacking almost. Don't get me wrong, I like the trailer and its pretty well done, but it just seems like it's for a different genre of book. It takes away the mystery and makes it sound like the book is a cliche mean girl drama when in reality there's so much more to the plot
CDs & Books nah the book is way better than the book promo and it's not that girly. Of course there's parties and petty girl drama but this is better than that, I promise.
The first chapter is literally about someone plummeting from the thousandth floor to their horrific, violent death. Not sure that equates with "too girly."
It's not your fault deary that we don't understand anything. Usually Epic reads makes these videos in a vague manner so than it helps ya know the story yet still don't spoil. I also think the story's also vague in the beginning to hide any like secrets. Although I haven't read the book so I don't know, it's just a hunch. Although what's bothering me is how different this video is to the usual Epic Reads Explains. Most of them have a person talking w/ paper cutouts. Although this time is different, it's more animated. I wonder why, they never even do that again I believe. Ah! Sorry if I made this sound rude in anyway, I was trying to make ya feel okay for not understanding.
