Genuinly just impressive, especially the working temp of 50 degrees celceus. I don't own a company that would need a spot(or any company at all) but if I did it simply adds utility. Keeps things flowing, keeps things safer, so that the engineers can focus on more important things. The machines can also run for longer without needing to stop for an inspection.

Tbh I don't think it's ready. Spot is a very functional design that they can upgrade and expand on. Atlas is... it's alot more complex and alot less useful. It will probably take a few years til' they have a robot that can acctually do somthing useful. And until then, spot is what is making money.

The key is going to be its manipulators because that's what you want an Atlas for. Less Spot, which is more of a mobile autonomous platform, and more Atlas which is a general labor droid.

As for movement, the movements vids we have seen have been pre-programmed, basically just an animatronic with legs. It still can't move and detect things like spot can, or atleast we havn't seen any evidence of it. We don't need to replace the human form factor with machines because we have humans. Metal will never be as stretchy as meat. It's better to just build specialised robots like Stretch or Spot. Atlas is cool but from what I've seen, utterly useless. I think DARPA wanted him for somthing? Maybe to draw fire?

They don't have personalities and the lasers are harmless. Boston Dynamics isn't making warmachines. Or atleast not primarely and spot has nothing to do with it.
These things does not have an aligment of its own, but the person using it for good or bad, like theft and such, which i hope they wont be used for in the future by some. There might be future versions that can maneuver even faster. Its usually cause of those human faults we need layers on layers of complex securitys of bothersome to go through later, like a fingerprint scanner for workers or whatever to be able to controll it

i feel like i've heard many companies talk about this stuff for factories. cameras/microphones and ml algos that recognize irregularities. i don't see why you'd need autonomous robots for that at all though
@@lmao4982 eh. It's a mobile platform. Might be cheaper than placing a scanner at all machines or paying someone to patrol day in day out or it may not. It's up to the individual company owner to decide with their book keeper.
I can only liken this little guy to a security guy I know named Gary. He doesn't go very far or very fast but he does overtime, doesn't take sick days, and sleeps in a little box between two old containers out back.

How does it counter out its own internal motor resonance? Motion amplification is an incredible technology but must be extremely sensitive by design. Curious to know more about this.
Vibration monitoring and laser scanning are existing fields though. There are currently competing companies who will sell you the service of coming to your plant and doing it.
