I have loved more than once and had my heart broken each time. I met my present wife 16 years ago and fell in love when she walked into the room. I have loved more than once and they all broke my heart, but i never gave up, until my last divorce and then met my current love. She isn't perfect, but is an angel in many ways. My first true love i met at the age of 12 and realized i loved her when i was 17. I thought she was the one and only. I planned to marry her but was in my first enlistment and shipping out for assignment for three years. After 18 months my mother wrote and told me she was getting married. My heart was broken, for about three days. Then i realized that since i loved her i wanted what would make her happy. She was married about 40 years when her husband died suddenly so i assumed she was in a happy marriage. I also thought because she was my first love we would be special friends for life. It was not meant to be. Over time i realized we had grown in different directions and if we had married we probably would have divorced. Love isn't always forever, so when you find it enjoy it for all it is worth. If it should end then try to remember the special memories. I had a best friend of 48 years and he was like a brother to me. When he suddenly died it was one of the hardest things for me to do when i went to his funeral. I think of him often, but now when i do i remember the special times we had together and it makes me smile. One should do that with love, remember the special times. Enjoy life to the fullest and when the end comes for you, hopefully you can look back and smile and say it has been a heck of a ride.
