Mucosubstances - Part 2

In this second of two videos on mucosubstances I demonstrate how the PAS reaction, Mucicarmine and Alcian Blue can be used as tools for visualising the distribution of different types of mucosubstances within tissues. In particular, I discuss the varying distribution of neutral and acidic mucosubstances within the digestive tract. Finally, I briefly demonstrate how weakly acidic mucosubstances can be distinguished from strongly acidic mucosubstances by altering the pH of the Alcian Blue staining solution.
