Because I love learning about the rich history of the game and the legends of yesteryear. After all, baseball is steeped in tradition and there are so many stories to tell. I love this year’s game. I’ve been playing since it came to the Xbox for MLB: The Show 21, and this years gameplay feels so fluid and enjoyable. The crack of the bat when you make contact has never felt or sounded better. As someone who plays a ton of sports games, it’s hard to think of something that feels as satisfying as getting perfect timing on a fastball down the middle.
@@llftj I think it’s great that the developers are embracing the actual history of the game with this mode in particular. Because baseball is a sport steeped in so much history and I love learning about it. At the end of the day, the players that are showcased were pioneers of the sport.
09 was what got me into the show. I was impressed with the gameplay and graphics. I was equally impressed with 10, 11 and 12 but after that it started to feel a little stale. The show feels way too similar since 13. The main problem I have is the character models. They have not changed at all. They need to revamp the models because they looked amazing 10 years ago but not anymore.
I was hoping they would get rid of ballplayers and revert road to the show back to how it used to be pre the show 21 but I don’t think that’s ever going to happen
I do get that hitting is supposed to not be easy, but I truly believe that it is just too hard in this game. I’m not one whose hitting exploits I would consider to be among the elite in this game, but there has been a huge difference in the amount of run scoring I’ve had offensively in franchise mode in The Show 23. I always play on the all-star difficulty level. SDS claimed before release that hitting would really be better, but there appears to have just been way too many times when I’ve made good timing on a good pitch to hit, only to end up with weak contact. And yes, I understand that zone hitting gives you more control over where the bat comes through the zone, but that also takes a lot of practice to get good at. I’m not asking for this game to provide tons of offense every game for me and the CPU. Frankly, that wouldn’t be fun either, but I do believe good timing needs to get rewarded way more than it does. I played through every pitch of four seasons in The Show 21, and in every season, my offense was much better or at least a little better that it was in the one season I’ve played in this year’s game. In two of those seasons, I hit at least .250 as a team. In one of them, I hit just under .250. The best offensive season I’ve ever had with a player was with Cody Bellinger. I hit about .290 with him, with 54 doubles, 28 homeruns, and about 90 RBI. I had another season with him in which I hit 27 homeruns. As a team in The Show 21, yes, I wasn’t exactly good, but I wasn’t nearly as bad offensively as I was in this year’s season, a season in which I only hit about .218 and only averaged a little over 3 runs per game. I also only hit 102 homeruns in the regular season. That was despite playing as the Braves, one of the best home run hitting teams in baseball. At least in 21, even though I wasn’t good as a team offensively, I had some players who had legitimately good seasons. In two of those seasons, I averaged roughly 3.5 to 3.8 runs per game. In one of those seasons, I would’ve averaged exactly four runs per game if I had scored just one more run. Also in one of those seasons, I ranked in MLB’s top 5 in doubles as a team. I would think that SDS would want to make hitting a little more reasonable in this game. I would think that SDS would actually realize that putting up good numbers, whether it’s as a team as a whole, or just with three or four players, is a way for people to enjoy the game, as well as something that would increase sales. Oh, and did I also mention that I hit 16 homeruns with Chris Carter in only 48-56 games in MLB The Show 19? Had a high batting average of as high as .330 with him deep into that season too, not to mention finishing with a .302 average with Justin Turner in The Show 21.
RTTS has retired. Hitting is killing me right now. 21 was the last I bought. Right now I can't find power. 2 hrs thru 9 games. Timing window seems tiny. I'm still fouling off pitches to stay in the ab. I like the fielding. Errors occur as they should. I've seen the cpu toss one into the stands. Thats great. Just gotta find that power and ill be happy. Franchise A potential players shouldn't always take till mid to late 20s to hit peak. Too many are low to mid 70s till then. Nobody is a stud right away. Which is dumb. Coaches hit contract end and vanish into pool of coaches. I'd like to resign without having to remember who was my coaches.
I find power with the A/x hit more often than with the X/ ⬛ hit. Also like he said in the video, the clutch stats means a lot when you have runners on base

I am so pissed off they didn't release this for PC again this year. The show has changed very little in the last decade. A PC release would showcase the game running in 4k with high frame rates and higher settings. It would be so smooth. PC sports gamers stay getting screwed. And bring back a real career mode with RTTS, none of that generic podcast BS
road to the show the games careers mode makes your character play in Prospects (if you play shows 20 all way down to 15 think) but you get drafted to any teams you pick or random and live a life as an MLB player from rookie MILB all way to Retirement in big leagues
I think they did an excellent job in breathing life into this franchise. Not a homerun. But definitely a hard line drive to the gap. One big piece people miss is the disparity in HOW we each play. I'm more of an online, competitive player. I jump into RTTS and franchise every now and then. If you're an RTTS grinder, you're probably dissappointed. They do improve these modes. But diamond dynasty is the money maker. So that gets the love. Sucks, but that's the reality. Maybe they can find a way to siphon money out of you non-competive players😂
Does anybody know if the facescan ability is in the Switch version as well? Last year there were a few minor things that weren’t included, like not being able to record your own crowd cheers and jeers
Some pitchers take long to throw the ball like Urias from the dodgers I was playing mlb 17 the other day when I had some time and Urías took forever to pitch
@@Tonyconstanza I don't know I don't think a pitch clock is necessary for a video game. I don't think it changes the speed of the game. The deliveries are usually pretty fast I know mine are

@@chrisspearline767 true but it's all about immersion in sports games so just leaving out the clock is a bit of a big deal to some plus online play it'd be nice to have
I mean outside of online play, where I doubt people are jus throwing pick off throws every time like stupid ass pitchers wanting breathers, it's pointless to code the new rules. Now new bases need to be in as imo. Jus pitch rules don't matter cuz of even the CPU doesn't do the ridiculous amount of pick off throws that pitchers do.
i have 0 interest in scouting fake players lol, if you cant make custom draft classes this is pointless, if anything its a detriment if i cant disable the weekly scouting
That’s one thing I’ll give madden props for is the community center where you can download custom draft classes, rosters with legends. All though with the show they have all the legends in the game to play with without downloading a custom roster so that’s a bonus
I will probably buy the game except I’m going to keep it and not buy any others. Because I usually play more of the offline game modes and I think this game would be a good fit for me.
It's a good game , but if franchise players think scouting and drafting is a huge feature, then they should go play a baseball manger game , 😂 because this ain't good enough
Being an Xbox guy, I could wait for The Show to be apart of my game collection. As a sports guy, after years upon years of pay to play EA Sports games, my gaming hours were pleasantly replaced w/ about the least cash grab card collection mode. I’m enjoying the adjustments to the fielding and that every pitch isn’t a foul ball or a HR. However, I wish they’d allow co-op franchise in which you and a buddy could play online together. Other than that, a good improvement.
Meter is trash, perfect perfect result in outs more often that hits, good goods never result in hits either, ai defense is way too op. Every ground ball is a diving play being made
SDS needs to look at 2ks my career and do that to RTTS yes while some of the stuff in 2K can be cheesy but man it would be nice to have a hub area my player could run around and have my own batting cage a place to workout actually let me choose my agent based off what they provide idk just I love RTTS when I need a break from DD and I want to see it get a ton more love
Well game companies even though they really don’t innovate almost every year and they mostly copy and paste they are smart and they have data that shows them what modes people play and what modes people don’t even bother to touch. Plus I have a question. When a new game comes out especially a sports game how long does one play that new sports game before they get bored of it and then start begging and asking for a new one?? I love mlb the show 23 thus far. The show 23 is much more fun than 22. Franchise and road to the show which are the two biggest modes I play were boring in last years game. Same game every year 😂😂 it’s not even like they need to update the graphics every year the graphics are great just add more content to RTTS and franchise add Barry Bonds and A Rod you already added the other 2 cheaters update the commentary and broadcast year round like add the RUclips broadcast one game then the MLB tv broadcast another night If I play for the Yankees I wanna see the YES broadcast screen I’ll even take the amazon broadcast screen and most importantly upgrade the commentary bro that alone makes the game so boring that’s just a little list but they could do so much more with the game smh
Like I got MLB in the directions when you hit the ball one of the directions points behind that doesn't make any like what you trying to do hit the behind you they should have had four directions but they only have three in one of them points behind you makes no sense and then on top of it is always a home run that doesn't make any sense at all I'm telling you people in video games just don't make any sense you pick the direction that you want to hit the ball in front of you is always a short short short short short short short it's never a homerun never but if you pick up the direction that's behind you on 21 MLB oh trust me you will make a home run every time that s*** doesn't make any f****** sense

I love the shoe 23, I really do. But can you imagine what this game and other sports games could be given they had competition.
To me, not be able to have rtts carry over from year to year like previous versions of the game used to be able to is a joke.
What's rtts?
I'm new don't know about latest mlb
road to the show the games careers mode makes your character play in Prospects (if you play shows 20 all way down to 15 think) but you get drafted to any teams you pick or random and live a life as an MLB player from rookie MILB all way to Retirement in big leagues
@@Cheeseman-p4y now the feature gone. So again start the journey from the beginning.
That's A pain but new players can pull it through.
I hate rtts and think its wasted time.
Does anybody know if the facescan ability is in the Switch version as well? Last year there were a few minor things that weren’t included, like not being able to record your own crowd cheers and jeers
Are you talking about the sounds of the show feature? That’s only a ps4 only feature
I’ll just get 22 since it’s on sale for $10 for the physical copy and just update the rosters.
22 is boring and has the old rules where the fielders are shifted to prevent a hit from a certain hitter. 23 took that off with the new rules
Damn. The Great Britain jerseys look better in-game.
I don't think you need a pitch clock unless you take over 4 hours to play one game
The deliveries are usually pretty fast I know mine are
@@chrisspearline767 I'm not a fan of baseball in general but hypothetically they didn't add a shot clock to a nba game I'd be upset as a consumer it's all about realism for these games
@@whitemamba0089 I get you but when I play a baseball video game I have no problem pitching very quickly and neither does a computer
@@chrisspearline767 true but it's all about immersion in sports games so just leaving out the clock is a bit of a big deal to some plus online play it'd be nice to have
I just got a ps5 and I've missed the last 3 titles of the show for ps5 so this is a BIG improvement over the ps5 version of the show
I mean outside of online play, where I doubt people are jus throwing pick off throws every time like stupid ass pitchers wanting breathers, it's pointless to code the new rules. Now new bases need to be in as imo. Jus pitch rules don't matter cuz of even the CPU doesn't do the ridiculous amount of pick off throws that pitchers do.
the lag issue on xbox one is a problem
i have 0 interest in scouting fake players lol, if you cant make custom draft classes this is pointless, if anything its a detriment if i cant disable the weekly scouting
That’s one thing I’ll give madden props for is the community center where you can download custom draft classes, rosters with legends. All though with the show they have all the legends in the game to play with without downloading a custom roster so that’s a bonus
Love that we get authentic hits now.
I’m trying to understand why there trying so hard to make fielding harder is it easy in DD because I play franchise mode the fielding isn’t that good.
I will probably buy the game except I’m going to keep it and not buy any others. Because I usually play more of the offline game modes and I think this game would be a good fit for me.
Any idea when the Huarache 4’s will be added?
wish they could have added a mode where its like francise but with wbc teams
Give me serious franchise updates, or I'm not buying the game. Period.
Meter is trash, perfect perfect result in outs more often that hits, good goods never result in hits either, ai defense is way too op. Every ground ball is a diving play being made
same game every 12 months what else is there to review.
Bring MLB the show to PC please.
This year I’ve been playing for longer
BR sucks I miss 22. They really dropped the ball on this one
22 was maybe the worst gameplay in the show history
@@TMAUGHAN24 how? 😆
@@seaniveroni5579 hitting was lame and the shift still existed
@@Tonyconstanza I hit just fine on 22 stop using that PCI crap
@@seaniveroni5579 yep mine is invisible it blocks the ball
not buying again until an online franchise is added back....
I'm tired of players running though each other
Same game every year 😂😂 it’s not even like they need to update the graphics every year the graphics are great just add more content to RTTS and franchise add Barry Bonds and A Rod you already added the other 2 cheaters update the commentary and broadcast year round like add the RUclips broadcast one game then the MLB tv broadcast another night If I play for the Yankees I wanna see the YES broadcast screen I’ll even take the amazon broadcast screen and most importantly upgrade the commentary bro that alone makes the game so boring that’s just a little list but they could do so much more with the game smh
They physically cannot add arod and Barry bonds because they don't have the rights to them.
It’s worth playing, I think the better question is it worth paying?
And they want me to pay $70 for this? Lmaooo. I’ll pass.
CAN WE ALL STOP BUYING IT UNTIL THEY MAKE A GOOD ONE PLEASE
Like I got MLB in the directions when you hit the ball one of the directions points behind that doesn't make any like what you trying to do hit the behind you they should have had four directions but they only have three in one of them points behind you makes no sense and then on top of it is always a home run that doesn't make any sense at all I'm telling you people in video games just don't make any sense you pick the direction that you want to hit the ball in front of you is always a short short short short short short short it's never a homerun never but if you pick up the direction that's behind you on 21 MLB oh trust me you will make a home run every time that s*** doesn't make any f****** sense
Pathetic excuse for a game. I wasted 70 dollars on garbage. I wouldn't even need my money back if I could live the rest of my life not knowing this game ever existed.
Next year's game you'll be talking how bad this game was 😂😂😂
Because it’ll hopefully finally be truly next-gen
@@elonmusket1820 it should’ve been so already the developers are just money grabbing without putting in much effort other than a re-skin and roster update
This game sucks imo. I was really disappointed with rtts.
Can’t get anyworse than madden
I ain't buying it till it drops on the pc.
it is a SONY videogame so yeah, sorry buddy. To xbox they port the game and not was until 2021 they release the game for xbox
Y’all be getting stiffed
These games will just always suck. As well be the best option
Game is great but idk what they did to the bat sounds but they might be the worst in the history of the series.
Bat sounds more real this year than previous years. I like it
Let’s go
Can you review my bhole?
Just the like the show its exactly the been exactly the same for several years but may need bleaching
@@bonscott6353 So true.
It would be great if they went back to revolutionizing the world of baseball video games and made it worth the money. I'll just keep playing MLB 16 and make all of my work worth the time.
