How informative, you've sorted my van and done a great job of it, I would recommend William as he did a great and very tidy work all cost effective, he really knows his stuff.
You need to update your video as some of the information has either changed or wasn't correct at the time of the recording. 1. The requirement for the toilet to be accessible while the bed is available is part of the old Blue CSC and was removed as a regulation for a Green CSC. 2. There is also no stipulation that the toilet cannot be located in a cupboard as long as the toilet is fixed. Therefore, it is possible to keep the toilet in a cupboard or under bench seating then use a slide-out mechanism to access the toilet. 3. There is no need to ventilate a cassette or waterless (composting) toilet, unless it is part of the manufacturer's installation instructions. That rule changed in August '24. Lastly, various organisations are debating with MBIE to extend the June 2025 expiry date as PGDB took so long to provide the guidelines that certifiers couldn't be trained in time & since then, the rules have changed twice! :D
Thank you for the video, guys. I have a couple of questions. I’ve heard that the toilet no longer needs to be permanently attached. Is that correct? Also, can the water carriers be collapsible for the sake of saving space? Cheers
Do you mean a clean water fixed flush tank and a removable black water tank? Then you need to run a hose into vehicle to fill fixed top tank or use a water vessel to take into vehicle and try not to spill . where as I could remove clean flush unit fill outside of vehicle then replace
Can the toilet be on a slide so long and the slide is fixed to the body of the car and the toilet it fixed to the slide ? (So you can slide it under the bed when not in use ) and keep space clear
Yes, the toilet can be fixed in place but on a slide-out draw. There are some brackets specifically designed for portable toilets to do this. Google 'Fix-a-Potty' or 'Fix-n-Rail"
I hope this doesn't happen in Australia. We have a lot of homeless people in old caravans, and if this comes in they will be reduced to living permanently in tents. Fine for those with plenty of money. Safety is good, but not when consequences like homelessness is the result.
In general, there are different rules to homeless people living in cars, and genuine people will be referred to local services for assistance. Anyone pretending to be homeless to avoid the regulatory self-containment rules is likely to face a large fine. Even for those not homeless but have a perfectly good camper with a portable toilet, this is creating a lot of unnecessary expense for many people.
So it is a waterless toilet? you can remove the wast casstte to empty it without shifting the base? it has a breather hose? It sounds ok but would need to confirm,
As long as it complies with the regs, yes. But the sticker is irrelevant, you'll need it to be inspected and certified. All vehicles that are certified with a Green CSC are also registered on a national database

Good video. Thanks for sharing.
That’s excellent rules.
I wish Australia would do the same.
Thank you. the changes have not been popular here. its not a cheap process to upgrade the toilet.

Our problem is the back packers.
They use our bush as there toilets.
I live in Cairns, & the beaches up north stink.
Who makes these rules and why, have any of them ever gone camping in a van?
Thanks for your video. It was really helpful. I was just wondering what model of toilet you use in your vans?
