25:21 - Look up "Christmas Truce of 1914", it's a really amazing true story that was adapted into a movie at least once or twice. The gist is that on Christmas Eve, in the midst of World War I, many of the Germans and Allies (France and Britain) agreed to temporary ceasefires in the spirit of the holiday. They sang carols together, traded stories and supplies, and even played games of football (soccer). There's a lot more to it, so I'd definitely suggest reading up on it, or finding a really good video that talks about it. I know that Simple History did a video on it, and Extra History did a series of short videos about it.
Yup, and the film clips Doug is showing while talking about it is from Joyeux Noel, a really spectacular movie about one location in the trenches where it happened. I checked it out because it was on Doug's top 10 list, and I can't recommend it enough
Seeing Doug's mom always hits different now. She sadly passed away in 2016, and they ended one of their reviews with a really sweet tribute to her. I can't recall at the moment which review that was, but it was really touching and heartwarming.
@@BlazeWriter it ended with the whole gang, watching this clip, iirc, and then Critic says: "let's watch that again". it really hits different nowadays...
25:17 YES This is a True Story of History: Starting on the night of Christmas Eve, in the year 1914, many German and British troops fighting in World War I on the Western Front sang Christmas Carols to each other across the lines, and at certain points the Allied soldiers even heard brass bands joining the Germans in their joyous singing. The next morning, both sides crossed the lines across no-man’s-land, climbing out of their trenches, and shook hands with each other. The men exchanged presents of cigarettes, candy, plum puddings and sang carols and songs. Some Germans lit Christmas trees around their trenches, and there was even a documented case of soldiers from opposing sides playing a game of soccer.
Man this episode of the critic made me laugh, cry, and take a break from the computer multiple times because I couldn't handle the insanity all at once.
21:25 - Oh, boy, are you in for a treat... Eight Crazy Nights is Adam Sandler's animated Chanukah/Christmas movie, and it's... painful. Nostalgia Critic did a review on it, too.
Duck, I actually meant to share this the past week, but Christmas recommendation I have would be Critic's Top 11 Christmas Commercials. It's more commercials, but Christmas!
Next, you should do Nostalgia Critic’s review of The Most HATED Nutcracker Movie Ever! 😨 One of the most unintentionally horrifying Christmas movies ever!
Regarding Doug's 'This is the holiday that brought a war to a halt' Yeah, Christmas did that. It was Christmas 1914, during world war 1, the Christmas truce, i'd recommend looking it up, it's actually a really good read. :)
- 2:13 Little Kuriboh cameo - 25:20 Yea during the 1st World War it was the Christmas Truce - Recommend Critic's review of "Rapsittie Street Kids Believe in Santa". Came out year after this one with people claiming it was worse than this movie
Santa Claus Conquers the Martians is a real film. It's a 1964 science-fiction comedy that is noteworthy for being considered one of the worst movies of all time and having the first screen appearance of Mrs. Claus. It's only worth your time if you want a laugh during the holidays. Another great reaction video.
6:50 - David Duchovny, best known as Fox Mulder from The X-Files. He was also in Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead, Evolution, and Zoolander. These are all properties you've probably never seen. XD
I don't know whether I should recommend you watch the live-action "Dr. Seuss's How the Grinch Stole Christmas" review or the "A Muppets Christmas Carol" review. On the one hand, the Muppets Xmas Carol review was more fun and entertaining to watch; on the other hand, it is worth it to see how seriously messed up the live-action remake of How the Grinch Stole Christmas is and why the remakes of classic Dr. Seuss stories keep missing the mark.
Since we are in December, how about reacting to the DBcember videos by TFS? If you do, react to the full version of each one (because they add more stuff than the seperate ones they aways do for each day of December till christmas)
Christmas is amazing that it put a war to a halt, however I wished the peace would last forever, but unfortunately it didn't. I bet that some of those people even fell about continuing the war because of the friends they made on Christmas are going to be killed by them after Christmas was over. And I feel so horrible for them because of it. It really shows how horrible war is and how good Christmas is.
DUUUUUUUCK! HOW DARE YOU NOT HAVE SEEEEEN ? Anyways, I prefer the Phelous review of this movie. Kind of feels like the Critic just speedran this review in comparison, plus I don't like clickbait title bullshit in general.
yeah~ there's some pretty messed up things like audio and animation in this special, but to call it the worst Christmas Special is not one I'd give it. i mean.... you haven't seen the stuff Phelous or Cinema Snob look at every year. the horrid stuff shown is mind numbing. like here's a video to look into when you get the chance: Cinema Snob's review of "A Little Piece of Heaven" and here's a small synopsis for the film: Will Loomis is living with his mentally handicapped sister Violet after their parents have died. She wants a young child to play with, so Will drugs and kidnaps a child from the local orphanage, and later, when his sister says she doesn't like the boy and demands her brother gets her a girl, Will kidnaps a girl from an abusive home. I am not making any of this synopsis up and if you know Kirk Cameron then you'll know why it's oddly fitting he was in this thing.
You know I'd be shocked by the fact that you never heard of Hayo Miyazaki or his studio "Studio Ghibli", but at this point I'm use to it. Basically, he's one of the biggest and most respected names in the world of anime. If you want to learn more, watch ElectricDragon505's "History of Studio Ghibli - Animation Lookback."
Don't do any kind of substance from a simple cigarette to a cheap American made beer for the Grandma Got Runover by a Reindeer special. Its already a nigh survivable acid trip.
Hmm... If you are reacting to Nostalgia Critic's reviews of Christmas movies in December... does that mean on Easter you will react to Nostalgia Critic's and Cinema Snob's review of "Passion"?! (which I think is about the only Easter-themed movie he reviewed, and there are almost no reactions to that review, unfortunately) Although if I remember correctly that review had come out in December... hint hint :p

R.I.P. Mrs. Walker. Thank you for raising a fantastic entertainer
She didn't raise him, she lowered him to the ground!

It’s a movie that makes me emotional every time.
Then the governments on both sides made rules to make that not happen again. Pity.
Also an award winning commercial and slapped on to the end of a Doctor Who episode.
Seeing Doug's mom always hits different now. She sadly passed away in 2016, and they ended one of their reviews with a really sweet tribute to her. I can't recall at the moment which review that was, but it was really touching and heartwarming.
It was “The most HATED Nutcracker movie ever made”

Its sad that this event isn't talked more about; I first learned about it from freakin' Blackadder! No history lesson in school ever brought it up

The Nostalgia Critic's Mom.

*Doug Walker's mom. Nostalgia Critic is allegedly a Character, though I see no difference.
This is *NOT* the worst Christmas special. That'd be Rapsittie Street Kids: Believe in Santa

Duck: "Rush Hour I've seen that"

Also Duck: "A Beautiful Mind? Never seen it"
Me: Boo
Lol I'm sorry for that rollercoaster
3:42 that whole bit up to "let's find out" is a reference to the opening of "Ed Wood". Great film, check it out.

I saw Saberspark review this film. It aired only once. He has reviewed multiple bad animated movies.
Please react to nostalgia critic -refer madness. It’s so funny 😆. Or the Odd life of Timothy Green by nostalgia critic. He roasts the adults so hard.
