I got chipped for my performance blue mk8. Works great, I found with my bonnet when applying the paint I blob it in and then use a credit card or similar to scrape over it. It Pushes the paint in and levels at the same time. Then use absolute minimum pressure on a couple of swipes and the shine remains in the paint. Other than that good demo👍
You see that is my concern. marring the existing clear coat. I'm contemplating getting a professional one stage machine polish and ceramic coating this year anyway
Hi I would like to say a big thank you for doing this video , I’ve just bought a brand new Mini Cooper and after 1 month , I already have a stone chip and 3 scratches which some one has kindly done , so was in panic mode this morning but after seeing your video I will be giving chipex ago and hopefully get it back to a brand new look , lovely looking car you have 😊😊
Another good review video. There is a way to prevent rock chips and it's from a PPF application, paint protection film. It really works, I know bc my NB RS came with a front kit. The front facia, hood, headlights and 1/4 of the fenders with zero damage after 42k miles. But, the A pillow wasn't done and I got a chip there, one under the driver's door handle (lol) and one other somewhere else. I used a four step paint kit and it worked ok but ChipEx looks better and I may redo them if I can get it in the US. PPF is expensive but worth it and helps with Nitrous Blue anxiety and resale value.....
It's a great bit of kit! Deffo a must have for a colour like Nitrous Blue (as its you can really notice when you get a chip with this colour) thanks for watching 👍🏻
Hiya Nice review One point though - what chipex clear coat are you talking about? I bought the pro kit, no clear coat needed, it's all in one. Has the kit, and the product, changed in the last 3 years? Cheers
Great review, btw the reason the paint feels thinner isnt just a ford thing, manufacturers have been using water based paint now since about 2016, my mk7 golf gtd seems to get a new stonechip everytime I go out in it and it literally make my heart sink. Thanks for demonstrating this, im ordering some as once Ive finished this reply 😊😊👍👍
Golf 7.5 GTI owner here. Quite frankly, anyone who says, "Ew you got a stone chip" ISN'T a hot hatch owner and is clueless. Anyone decent would advise on how to remedy it. Thanks for the recommendation, going to have a crack at my own stone chips
I really like your video. I’ve a couple of questions for you:- 1. Did you use chipex to redo the chip you repaired with the Ford touch up kit and if so how did you remove the old paint as it was quite noticable 2. I’ve 2 paint pots on my pack as it’s pearlescent. It looks like yours is similar. Did you have to leave a small recess to apply the finishing coat to avoid a small lump - I’m thinking u could end up wiping the finishing coat off with the blending solution if last coat left proud
I would have ditched making this video and ran after that ice cream van. Serious note though, I have found the same on my Mustang. Ford paint seems either very thin or fragile, or maybe it's the bright yellow colour, but chips really look bad compared to stone chips on my previous cars.
Hello Paul, it was only really designed for stone chips (small areas) if the scratches are hair line scratches you could try T-cut or Novus 1, 2 and 3. If you run your finger nail over the scratch and you feel the scratch that normally means too much paint has been lost and off the shelf products won't work. Hope this helps
Hi, thanks for your question, I'm am constantly looking for new / better products but I can honestly say I haven't found anything as good as this! It's spot on and as long as you take your time the results are awesome and are really difficult to tell, I hope this helps (I will do a follow up video to let everyone know how it looks now). Thanks for watching 👍🏻
Thank you for a detailed honest video. I’ve bought this for my 911 and will use your advice when I apply at the weekend.

Does the Chipex Nitrous Blue paint have the small OE sparkle in it? Or is it plain paint?

Do you think this could work on scratchs or just for stone chips

Would you still recommend this product? or have you found something better? :D

@@justboggy nice one mate, i will order one and give it a blast. Got a couple chips on front bumper of a c4 ;-)
PPF film is an option
You should paint correct your car and get PPF done
