- Since that day in 1995 when the Grizzlies beat Marshall on its own turf 22-20 in Huntington, WV, Montana has won another Division I-AA national championship, but nothing can top that first one, which ranks eighth on the Big Sky Conference's list of the "50 Greatest Men's Moments.''

The Big Sky Conference (BSC) is collegiate athletic conference affiliated with the NCAA's Division I, with football competing in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS). Member institutions include Eastern Washington, Idaho State, University of Montana, Montana State, University of North Dakota, Northern Arizona, Northern Colorado, Portland State, Sacramento State, Southern Utah, and Weber State. UC Davis and Cal Poly are football-only participants. The Big Sky sponsors championships in 15 sports, including men's and women's basketball, indoor and outdoor track and field, cross country, and tennis. There are championships in football and women's volleyball, golf, soccer, and softball.

I watched this game the morning after my friend's 11th birthday. Definitely the most recent of the "good ol' days" of Griz football.
Marshall fan here: one amazing thing about this is that Marshall sacked Dave Dickinson 10 times in this game. 10 times! But interestedly, they didn't sack him at all in the fourth quarter. Marshall sacked him twice in the first quarter, six times in the second quarter, and twice in the third quarter. Dickinson certainly showed a lot of resilience and I think his experience and leadership won this game for Montana.
An incredible game (I'm a Montana fan). Dave Dickenson had the goods to be a top flight NFL QB but never got the chance to prove himself. I'll forever be upset about this.
Dave Dickenson was too undersized to be an NFL quarterback, but he became a legend in the CFL.
That's what everyone said. There are shorter QBs (Russell Wilson) in the league right now; Flutie was shorter, others have been in the same general size range. He didn't get a chance to prove his critics wrong, which I have zero doubt he would have done if he would have been given a fair chance.

Don't remember every single thing .I just remember it was a tough game a good game .....I'm a grizzly fan .

As a strong Marshall fan, I consider this loss to be very painful because I really do believe that Marshall was the better team that year. However, they made a lot of terrible mistakes and essentially LOST THE GAME. Montana played a better game and deserved to win.
