@@controlZchannel no judgement, but it’s hard to believe you don’t like 3DD. They’re just really solid in my opinion. I could see not liking Nickelback, though I’m a fan of theirs, but 3DD, that’s tough.
I remember "with arms wide open" as a young guy in the early 2000 being a good song, but hearing that song as a father now it has a much deeper meaning to me now.
Creed was and probably continues to be a very misunderstood band. I personally appreciate them, and am happy to see them reunited and back on the stage.
Just saw Creed in concert Friday night & they were amazing!! Been a fan since the 90’s & they have a ton of great songs. As a father, I think you’d enjoy With Arms Wide Open but can’t go wrong with any of their music. Edited to add-3 Doors Down opened for Creed so you’re definitely not tripping by comparing these bands!
That song Arms Wide Open came out in 2000 the year I was pregnant with my firstborn son. It was our welcoming to the world song for him. Unfortunately my son is no longer with us he is in heaven as he accidentally overdosed in 2022 at age 21. He struggled with addiction and actually was doing well sober until a breakup with his girlfriend which led him to try a drug he had never before. 😢 he didn’t know what it would do. These two songs… man. They tear me up from the inside out. Jeremy I will see you again and never say goodbye… my amazing Jeremy forever 21 ❤ 🦋 I love and miss you so much
It's about asking Jesus to save him. "Sin has followed me, but I still believe there's something left for you and me." It's the feeling of falling from grace but still believing you can be saved.
I hate to disillusion you, but the lyric is SAD EYES follow me. The lyrics of the song ARE obviously about an existential crisis and the dude feeling abandoned to an extent by God, and crying out for help, but the song is definitely not about sin. This is about feeling desperate and nearly hopeless, reaching out to those near him and God to try to get through it, and in the end still feeling mostly alone, but finding a sliver of hope.
They were hugely popular between 1995-2005. Alternative 4:59 Rock genre. They gave 3 Doors Down their first break & put them on their 1999 World Tour. Friends to this day. Back on tour as we speak.
Creed wrote some incredibly deep music. They are considered part of the "Post-Grunge" wave of modern rock along with bands like Nickelback and 3 Doors Down. A lot of folks criticize these bands because they are "extremely derivative" of the "grunge" sound - heavy instrumentation with raspy vocals and fairly simple chords. There's been a good bit of backlash hating on these artists, but if you actually listen to the lyrics, there's a lot of good music from this period.
Creed came around at a time when "Grunge" was losing its mass popularity. Creed had a message that resonated with people. They got alot of hate as they moved into 2000's. Unwarranted for sure. Every artist at the end of your video will take on a ride.
Creed actually started as a Christian Rock band in Florida. You can see this in a lot of their lyrics. Arms wide open, higher and my own prison for example. The vocalist is the son of a Pentecostal minister.
Scott and Mark have stated multiple times that that isn't true. Yeah, some of the lyrics contain those type of messages, but they were just a rock band.
Common misconception. At no point ever where they a Christian band. Their first album has the phrase "god damn," which you'd never hear in Christian music. What we had here was three guys with rock and roll dreams (as Stapp put it), and a singer who was raised very religious, and consequently fell back on it in writing his lyrics. He's a Christian, but they're not a Christian band, nor were they ever.
No, they did not. When both song writers (Scott and Mark) state they are not and never were a Christian rock band, yet folks like you insist they were, you look silly. Stop it.
Ive been loving all these reactions from you black p! Just went through and binge watched them for hours the other day when i finally had the time. Keep up the great work my man, you are appreciated!
You are correct with your assessment. Creed, 3 Doors Down, Matchbox20, Gin Blossom, Toad the Wet Sprocket, Collective Soul, Incubus, Smashing Pumpkins, and others had a similar sound. It was the fad of the 90s and early 2000s.
Creed definitely had one of the biggest musical mind fucks out there. On Human Clay, the uplifting “Higher” is followed right away by “Wash Away Those Years.” If you aren’t familiar with that song, highly recommend it.
Lol playing this song ain't gonna make them like creed...pretty sure this is like the song everyone knows by creed so anyone who hates creed already heard this song
Creed saved me back then and re listening to it now after so many years and what I am currently going through I am now realizing I need to go back and listen again
You’re not wrong about Creed, Three Door Down & Nickelback. That song came out in 2001. Creed got back together and are currently on tour. Scott Stapp in my opinion has one of the best voice in the business. 23 years later he is even better. He also has a solo career with amazing songs. This song is about someone asking for help. And realizing the mistakes they made in their life. Check out them on your, there is plenty of videos on here.
I appreciate how you actually talk about the music and the meaning. A ton of reaction channels just kinda listen to it, and hardly give any input. Keep kicking ass!

Yeah there's similarities. Creed was huge and they recently had a resurgence. Just took 3 Doors down on tour with them this summer. This is my favorite Creed song ever
The band Alter Bridge was created from this band when Creed broke up. The song Black Bird by Alter Bridge is absolutely amazing. Also another song by them is Watch Over You but they have many amazing songs. The singers name is Myles Kennedy. Definitely checkout Alter Bridge!!!
Thanks for listening, Creed started as a Christian rock band. Lead singer is a preachers son and the band put out a few albums before ego and booze kicked in. The band kicked Scott out of the band. They just recently reunited but it's a shame bc they were a hard band
They never started out as. “Christian band”. Scott Stapp, was one of the main reasons for “Creed’s” controversial issues when it came to band’s history. Whilst Stapp’s personal relationship with God did indeed influence many of the lyrics that he wrote. Like in the song “My Own Prison”. The song for him was finding redemption within his own faith as well as dealing with his own issues of addiction. At no point in his career does Scott Stapp ever claim that “Creed” was/is a Christian group. Nor does the other musicians within the band. • Many Christians don’t feel like it’s “Christian” enough. While many other Christian groups happily use their music in their communities as something suitable for their needs. Christian groups, book shops, and Christian radio stations still continue to to promote Creed within the community today. Also Creed did play at Christian festivals; to include The Christian Music Festival in 2002 . However they did NOT play exclusively at Christian festivals. Nor are they doing so now. • I can get into so much more , but I’d be here all day. #TheMoreWeKnow

This is a song about someone who feels like they've traveled too far down a bad road in life, and the last thing for this person to do is to cry out for help.
That's how I interpreted it. A cry for help - difficulty coping regardless of the reason as that part is not specified in the song. It is like when people pray for help which can be about anything at any time. But it is different than giving thanks. It is a plea.
You were right about It's Been a While and Higher. It's very likely you've heard at least one Puddle of Mud song on the radio. The same could be said about Hoobastank. (you probably heard The Reason)

Creed, Nickelback, and 3 Doors Down DEFINITELY encapsulate a time in music. You’re spot on!
matchbox 20 kinda fits as well
Dislike them all, although Creed does have a few bangers, but those three are definitely nostalgia cany for 2001.

It's definitely a tear jerker. Creed has some jams for sure❤❤.
I hate that song

The Offspring and Everclear were my favorites of that era. With Incubus right behind.
