Nailed it. I posted this to my Facebook page. I will add...It's something that my wife and I enjoy doing together...record hunting, debating which ones to bring home, and listening. It was totally unexpected 6 years ago. We are 66. Cheers!

Absolutely love your passion for vinyl. You hit the key points, I'll add one that maybe I'm just odd... But to me I absolutely love the smell of old vinyl records. 😄 Yes I'm serious, old albums have a smell that can take me back in time. I'd say the main draw for me however is the whole listening experience as you mentioned. When i really want to experience music and not just listen to it, I will choose my records over streaming music anyday.

Nice descriptions of your love of the hobby Rob! I agree, that midway flip of a record is super.

Good to see you younger people thrilled about records. It keeps the medium alive and well. 😊 All nice points.
Vinyl has never been better in many cases but the equipment has made it so much better. Greg

@@3dimensionsofmusic3D hey Greg. For me its about the experience. CDs or FLAC may be better. Im no audiophile. I just enjoy the activity of listening to a record.

Hey buddy. Great video. You've touched on so many great points in this video. It's a unique hobby, and not everyone will understand it, the same way that we do. I had a friend ask me this question not too long ago, and one of the things I mentioned to him was the pleasure of having and showing off a collection of something. Just the same as when I was a kid and had a baseball and hockey card collection and I could show it off to my friends, I get to do the same thing with records- except you can listen to them too! It's curating your music tastes, and it also leads to so much discovery of great new & old music. I've learned so much since I joined the VC!

I had to watch this in installments, but I wanted to watch it til the end. I think one thing that makes vinyl more special than CDs, as you were saying closer to the end, is that a CD is just a physical copy of a digital recording. You can get high quality digital recordings or even stream them, so unless you really want and have space for the physical packaging, you can choose to not buy CDs. But vinyl is not digital and the packaging is big, bold, and beautiful. I was looking at used records the other day, and they do impress with their large artwork and even weight. You feel you’re holding a piece of art. CDs are like the physical miniature (can’t read that tiny font size) that’s like an alternative for the person who wants his own full-size SUV but has to settle for a Jimny.

Everything you said Buddie! I do think the record store is still one of the last culture-centric shops out there. I never enjoyed hanging at Best Buy for CD’s quite like the hangs I have with friends at the local shop(s). Shirt is holding up well! 🙏🏻

It was ths only physical media source we had back in the 60/70's, then came 8 track and cassette. The compact disc never showed up until the 80's. It's nice to see records making a comeback, unfortunately the prices are ridiculous and the quality control has gone out the window. I've bought more "new" warped records in 2023/2024 than the complete 70's and 80's combined...great video Rob, and H.C.D to you and yours. PS. what's a vinyl ?!...cheers...✌️

I was playing an album for a friend just this week and he asked me the same question. I love physical media. I love holding an album, flipping the album, looking at the cover art, and reading the liner notes. But when I played the same song on vinyl and then switched over to digital on Apple Music, he could clearly hear the difference. Digital music sounds bland and 'flat' to me. Vinyl just sounds warmer and you can hear so much more. He was blown away by the difference. After that, I didn't need to say any more. Vinyl is awesome. But... I'm running out of space... LOL
