I have two birthday traditions. Strawberry cake and watching this video . I share a birthday with Mr. Lincoln and love this painting and song so much. I’m so glad it is here on RUclips for all to enjoy. Happy birthday Abraham!
My son is named Abraham and my favorite car is a Lincoln! Ryden is so talented! I'm almost as good at cleaning my microwave oven as he is at painting, even though they are two totally different things! When I see his dedication to his art it makes my stomach hurt with a prickling love! I'm a girl by the way!
How can I continue painting, when there are geniuses like Ryden in this world?? :)
Mark Ryden is way up there with Da Vinci and de Lempicka in the joy his art brings.

Isn't it amazing? I was lucky enough to get a view of it last year at Expo Chicago. He's had a couple things in it these past 2 years I've gone and I have died every time. I wish I could afford it....maybe some day!

@scotthinkster That's Paul Frees, best remembered for providing the voice talent for Boris Badenov for the Rocky & Bullwinkle cartoons from Jay Ward. You can still hear the voices of Paul Frees AND Thurl Ravenscroft in the "Haunted Mansion" attraction at Disneyland, Frees is the "ghost host" and Thurl one of the singing busts in the graveyard.

@artdonovandesign mark ryden uses oil paints. airbrush may be true if you were using a water based media like acrylics. but observing the 'fat over lean' rule in oil paint would make it prone to crack if her were to put a super thinned out layer of oil over the top layer. its just skill that he has, and alot of transparent layers of glazes.
The style is often referred to as Pop Surrealism or Lowbrow. The song was sung by Bing Crosby and is from the movie Holiday Inn.
@rfilyaw Hooray! Somebody else that's heard of '9: The Last Resort'! I loved that game, although it was so full of bugs that I couldn't finish it. But still, it was beautiful! :) It was also my first ever exposure to Ryden!
OMG...that was awesome to watch and hear. BTW....I believe Andy Williams said "Who Dat" at about 2. 48 into the song and then at about 3 min said "What up!!" Hahaha

It appears that there is a softening and gray-ing with an airbrush in the final, finished work. However, Mr. Ryden is certainly entitled to his trade secrets.

Abe Lincoln was my fave, he does have a statue. Maybe they'll make a Mr. Ryden one.
I am certain the voiceover intro to "Great Moments With Mr. Lincoln" was that of the late great Thurl Ravenscroft (of many classic Disney voiceovers), and not the amazing actor Royal Dano (who certainly played Mr. Lincoln).
that was actually Paul Frees, he did many voices for the old Disney rides and attractions, Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean and Adventure Thru Inner Space. He was also the voice of Boris Badinov and Ludwig Von Drake

If your such a Lincoln fan, you should come to PA and actually visit the Lincoln memorial museum. We have his actual blood oh the American flag. Then we could actually hang out. If you dont mind hanging out with a nobody.
