I've pretty much given up on other car review sites as the majority are obsessed with car porn, reviewing £100K+ cars that the vast majority will never drive. Your approach is more akin to the Readers Wives section of a jazz mag in that it features cars I actually have a chance of riding one day. Congratulations on reaching 100K subscribers.
I totally agree, all rich daddies boys trying to live the dream with huge pcp payments! Then it bites them in the buttocks on the final balloon payment lol
I'm an owner of the shooting brake version and I managed to fit a double bed from IKEA in it with the passenger seat pushed to its max forward position. It's so practical whilst looking far more stylish than other estates. It gets a lot of slack for being a confusing target audience, but for me as a single person who needed a big car for loading things, and not wanting to look too much of a grandma, it's really gorgeous. Look out for the night pack versions with nice alloys, makes them look a lot faster then they are. To drive, 220d is just purely polite, it'll do what you ask in a controller manner. It's not exciting, but it can more than do the job you need. Brilliant car, but I might get a sports car instead now that my practical needs are diminishing :D

I have a black 2016 in the heat n super humid Hong Kong, touch wood it has been quite reliable so far n the styling still looks great especially the from side in my opinion better than the current new model which has lost some of its aggressive stance
Gardening in the attic? You should definitely do a video on that “you should note, your electricity costs may spike..you’ll also need specialist lighting”

Had one of these, kept it 8 months before swapping back to an E class. Hated the way it drove. Loved the look of it inside and out though which was what caught my attention initially.
Another great video, love your funny analogies 🤣 I have my own view on those dash screens, personally I think they look like a tablet that's been won out of one of those stacker machines in the motorway services, then stuck to the dash with blue tac 😀

In respect of this video, I've just driven a CLA 220D, ( since Thursday) for the past weekend. My 2012 C class auto, petrol, went in for inspection and now needs a new engine; at 61k. Unbelievable. The new 2023 CLA, amazed me in its frugality and delivered 64mpg on the run; from the Premier Inn, at the QE2 Dartford crossing to North Wales. This was driving at the speed limit of course and in comfort. I did find all the dials a bit of a distraction and had my wife act as Co Pilot in this car which I renamed the Delta Flyer. It only has just over 3,000 miles registered and it has change my mind about Diesel cars. Not sure what will happen with the C class.
My kid broke my CLS passenger window the other month when it was all frozen up and broke the mechanism inside. And the Merc specialist is shut because of covid. Nightmare.
I queried with a mercedes specialist and was told that they use renault engines for the lower variants i.e cla 180 200 and 220 are assembled in france and are all flogging the uk market, cla 250 available in the eu market is the only variant manufactured in germany

There is an A-Class Saloon/Sedan. I've not seen many but they are produced. The CLA is more a 4 door coupe style version of the A-Class. Oh and I love the looks of the CLA including the rear. 15 minutes after watching this I saw an A-Class being pulled over by the Police. Love the channel/reviews, keep it up.
I agree the CLA 180 can be sluggish to drive, but I highly recommend getting a stage 1 remap if you do own one. I’m running 175 bhp which is a vast improvement from stock
Most of these in Finland are cla180 and I wondered why they’re so cheap and so many on the road. It has a 1,5 Renault engine so that explains that. This 220 seems like a good car actually.
Re the digital radio, my workmate has one of these he got for his wife which he drives to work sometimes. He has this local side hustle where he activates CarPlay/Android Auto on certain 2015-16 Mercs - including the CLA - with this USB key type thing he got off eBay. You can then use the RadioPlayer app on that as well as all the other stuff (Spotify/Apple Music, Google Maps, Waze etc). 5 minute job if someone does it in your area, shouldn’t be more than £25 quid unless they’re really profiteering.
It’s strange how things work differently in other countries. In Italy, CLA are bought by people who don’t afford CLS, or young ladies who own chihuahuas. The “gardeners” own Audi A8 and 7 series... That's modern cars for you - it always comes down to what you can see or do on the inevitable on-board screen. Maybe that's why I drive a 20 year old Alfa 156 - no screens, and a review need go no further than simply looking at it and listening to the twin spark.
Noisy, rough ride and OK finish. With diamond cut wheels that are good for max 3 years - True - just like an A class that the Mrs drives. Adequate - Good description. A gum shield a useful accessory. AMG version a must.
I'd like to see you sit in the back seat, preferably the one behind the drivers seat when adjusted for you. Would then be able to see how accommodating the rear seats actually are for each car you review. Great work nevertheless.

Im changing to a CLA from my C Class coupe. This is the most honest review. Although they share similar bucket seats, the CLA feels stiffer in general. Still smooth.
the dab thing is done way better in newer models (I drive a 2020 A class) where you can scroll through fm channels and if a DAB alternative is available it'll automatically grab that. Conversely if the car loses the DAB signal it will automatically and (usually) seamlessly switch over to the FM signal if it exists.
Another good review Matt. I do believe it's time you started to sell your brand with High Peak Autos t shirts and car accessories. I would certainly ditch my merc number plates for yours.

Test drove a 2016 CLA220d (non AMG) in yearly 2020 before the lockdown and it was a really nice drive. My brother chose the backseat he is 5'9" and he was fine for the short trip. The auto gearbox was a bit weird when pulling away from a traffic light but once you get going it's a comfy drive
Brilliant as always matt. I would like to see a review of the mercedes c class saloon, w205, from 2014 to 2020, I think these are the best compact saloon. Most are the 2,1 diesel, auto, AMG line premium plus are great spec I owned one 12 months the interiors are equal to audi and bmw, regards Mark
A suggestion for alternative content, as I seen your looking to deepen the channel content with the Volvo video. Your regularly stress the importance of taking cars to specialists (Mercedes SL being a more recent example). Maybe there is interest doing a video with specialists? They could explain the benefits to using them. Also a no bull**** break down of car finance, maybe with your own finance provider. Pros and cons to each type of finance. Finally I think your presenting style is perfect for a podcast style show. Yourself and a couple of other traders discussing your experiences within the car trade and where you think the trade/car industry is going? Just a thought, congratulations on the 100k looking forward to the next 100k.
Had the Cla 45, ride far too Harsh, a lot of cheap hard plastics from eye level down, but Jesus was it quick! Not many things would keep up, including M3’s C63’s on damp british roads. The Race start was mental
The front quarter view makes me think about a bull dog!! All chunky up front and then a tiny back end!!! I much prefer the newest shape as it’s more low and sleek at the front and equals the back end

Just bought a 2015 cla220 and I love it.... Especially because my car before this was an Audi q7....
Omg that FM DAB combined setup would drive me mad....defo the sort of thing you might not find on a test drive, only when you land home with the car.

I’d keep the 4 series. I hated the way the cla drove whereas the 4 series is a proper drivers car

It's a lovely car. I went from 2014 Audi A1 1.6 Diesel to 2019 CLA 220 2.0L petrol.
