Such power ... and done while sitting down on a stool. You're right about him stepping out of his comfort zone. Singing with distortion is a complete no-no for someone like him, Opera, Operette and Broadway type Musical. He was so nervous before doing this, but he stepped out of his wheelhouse and not only did it, but nailed it. Respect. Looking forward so much to the last episode of the season, Henk and Floor doing Phantom of the Opera.
I have to admit I prefer the Simon and Garfunkel version MUCH MUCH more than the Disturbed cover. That being said, Henk Poort is an AWESOME singer, loved all his performance. Also very true that this show has a very nice concept. I totally agree that this is much more interesting than a competition.
I loved how he chose the disturbed version to sing. He did it justice. I wasn't expecting him to do distortion the way that he did, and he pulled it off beautifully.
his own admiration for Floor is maybe the only thing that could get him to go outside his comfort zone and against every bit of training he's ever had... it was brilliant
I've instantly become endeared to Henk Poort after just a few performances. He's clearly a well established singer in his field with decades of experience and good at what he does. It takes serious courage to step outside of your interests and bread&butter/comfort zones, but he's jumped in head 1st and seems to be embracing something different than usual. As an artist and guitarist for about 30 years I understand how intimidating, and to be brutally honest, frustrating, it can be to do something within your field, but be out of your element. It show humility to risk failing at something connected to your forte`and something trying something new.
Before this performance everybody asked where uncle Henk was because he was sitting quietly. He was so unsure about hitting the distorsion well enough so he didn't joke much like he did in earlier three episodes. :D
Worth noting, Henk added distortion (a HUGE no-no in opera) in honor of Floor, he really stepped out of his comfort zone for Floor (which is what he said during the show). Samantha also said the furniture was shaking because of the bass in his voice at the start!
Wauw... thank you for your lovely reaction.. I am Dutch and it makes me proud that so mutch people are reacting to Beste zangers. And you all love it so mutch.. ❤❤❤
Thanks for your nice reaction. Henk really did a great job with this cover. The fact that he is a professional opera/classical singer has risking his voice by adding some distortion, out from his comfort zone, and also he sung it without autotune only with pure power of his voice. I put alot of respect and big appreciation to him.
the greatest fun about this show is that the singers go back to why they once started to sing. Forget that it is their job for a bit. and just go back to having fun.
Brilliant!! I love Henk! I smiled all the way through and just loved him more when he raised his eyebrows at the end. Very humble look after such an amazing demonstration of talent!
Hi Valeri, do you there is always one winner. The person in the hot seat is always the winner. Where in the world you find a group of world class singers that sang for you, about you or songs of you.
This is already released as a single, as well as all of the songs sung by Floor. It's already in the top 3 on the iTunes charts! And to think.. from what I see, this is the 12th SEASON of this show!!!
We need a show like this in the states. Everything here is a competition not about singing or the music. Floor is a goddess and the other singers are awesome as well. I started watching the older episodes of this show and it’s been pretty good so far.
So far out of Henk's wheelhouse. I loved how all of the singers when they looked at Floor's body of work were like "crap how am I going to pull this off?". They were all amazing. I sang for about 7 years through school but gave it up. I know a tiny bit about how hard this must have been. (My chorus teachers were great, warm ups, vocal exercises, know basic piano keys and practice x 1000 etc)
I've been a fan of Henk for many years now, ever since i first heard his voice, i was hooked and in awe... the man has such phenomenal range and control... And i was highly surprised he picked that song, because its such a difficult song to sing, there is absolutely nowhere to hide, if you make a tiny mistake, we'll hear it. But i had full confidence that he could pull it off, and then he went even bigger than i ever expected. Loved your reaction, and as i expected/hoped, you've become a fan of Henk too (i bet the song Noelia has something to do with that hehehe) Its great to see that you've fallen in love with the entire show, sometimes we dont know we're missing something in our lives, till we see it, and its usually an eye opener when that happens (this show certainly is that) I highly recommend watching previous seasons too, in private or on here, that is your choice, but i am sure you'll love every season you'll check out, because each season has gems waiting to be discovered. Ty for reacting to Henk Poort, i highly enjoyed watching you enjoy the music. :)

Henk Poort is also international very famous but is a classic singer (so also did say the distorsion it was really not done in opera/opperette) He played in +30 Operas +26 Opperettes and about 10 musicals and some acting work.
I love the Beste Zangers show too!. Floore's my girl, and now Henk is my guy!...This is my favorite single performance on the show so far!. I think Henks use of distortion was perfect!.

So awesome. .great job.
I do miss the distortion that David did.
Leuk en interessant!
The original song is from Simon and Garfunkel.
Really? Nobody knew....
Floor taught the "old dog" a new trick. She was deeply honored by it (and should be! :) )
Wait he did not learn disortion from her during that show? That would make it even more wow =D
@@Tearnofear Hey fellow Eve Player! He stated that distortion is a major no-no in opera, and that he was hugely stepping out of his comfort zone, and so nervous he was shaking! He did such a great job too. I don't think he ever would have tried if Floor hadn't inspired him.

well i stopped playing 2013, after 7 years and thousands of hours. Was a good time even though i don't miss it anymore.
i watched the whole show so i know he was nervous. But i didnt realize he learned it during the show cause of Floor. But now his face at the end makes sense :)
