Hi, glad you are enjoying the pants. It works better for me to layer up inside the waterproof sock rather than outside. That will allow the best chance for breathability and you will get less sweat / condensation inside. A leaking sock and trapped body moisture are two different things. Cheers.
Thank you for sharing your initial thoughts. I just bought a pair and am deciding on what footwear to purchase next. Given a protective layer over the "sock" section of these pants is a must, do you think a sealed shoe like a calf length wetsuit bootie is better, or a free draining reef sandle? I want to keep my feet warm but worried that a fully enclosed neoprene bootie wont be able to create a seal against the outer fabric of the drypants when stepping into the water, resulting in trapped water between the bootie and drypant "socks" which may eventually leech through to my inner layers. Thoughts?
G'day Jack. I find they work better if nothing holds moisture against the seams. I use open sandles now. Neoprene boots and socks would cause much more seepage into the sock of the dry pants. Layer up underneath.
@@Adventure_Bum ok thanks heaps for your advice. I was leaning towards trying my luck with a surf or diving bootie so you have saved me some $$$ and disappointment :) will go for something with alot of holes instead. Cheers!
You really have to move up at least one shoe size if you're going to wear footwear over any type of neoprene footed waders or dry suit. I do like the wader style since there is no chance of water getting in via the foot to lower leg junction.
great vid, beautiful area there! I have a pair of these too although haven't used them yet. They are a little bit oversized but at least I can layer up. I've been using a Sohlquest AMP drysuit, my feet feel the same, icy and a little damp, not sure if it is sweat or a bit of moisture wicks through either - I now wear merino socks underneath the drysuit to try and keep them warmer, I just wear a pair of kmart "Aqua Socks" - like a cheap reef shoe, and no socks on the outer.
Update, I have used these pants, they are pretty damn good. I got a hole in one leg, I think due to scraping on a rock, but also bought a tube of the glue and it sealed up nicely.

Gday Scott. Yeah I found that after mucking around a bit. Love the pants.

Cheers Travis. Thanks for commenting. 👍

Cheers Matin 👍🍺
some updated info would be good . did you work out the best way to wear them and how are they holding up this many years later?
Still using them bro. Still seep a bit around the feet but otherwise greay.

@@jack_attack_1 I just use $20 sandals from cheap as chips.
Best pants by far I use mine off the rocks in winter
They have been perfect for cold water sailing and kayaking! Love em 👍

Thanks Tom. They leak a touch. The sandals went over them nicely

Thanks for that! I might head to K-Mart for some reef shoes.
