I knew I was right with this week’s choice lol. This move has a lot of Black all-stars. John Witherspoon, Laura Winslow, Lady of Rage, Cedric the Entertainer? They’re Black all-stars ⭐️.
Lemme tell ya that line stood with me still to this day, I love this movie with a passion it was a lot of chemistry with them all I'm glad I had this recorded on my ol VHS when I randomly discovered movies those times😅
I have not seen this movie in forever. Now here comes the fun facts: The late John Witherspoon & Gary Anthony Williams were also in Soul Plane & The Boondocks, Fredro Starr & Sticky Fingaz make up the hip-hop group Onyx, they both appeared on New York Undercover & they were both in Clockers, John Witherspoon, Sticky Fingaz & The Lady Of Rage were also in Next Friday.
I saw a slave collar around a dark-skinned man's neck and a dark-skinned character named "Blackie". We can't subject ourselves to abuse over and over again for the sake of entertainment. It makes sense why so many of us struggle with self-respect. Sadly, movies like this have helped confuse us. Hopefully, the next recap won't have obvious racist messaging with visuals.
YAAAAS!!! I LOVED this movie growing up😂!! I'm always shocked when people don't know about it. Girl this channel continues to be my fave for in depth movie reviews, YOU DONT MISS!!!!❤❤❤❤!!
wow this was a forgotten gem right here! I remember seeing my mom watching this when i was little. Bootleg quality was so good didn't know it was bootleg until the end of the movie until every one got up'
Ima be honest..I don't like old school recap videos....except yours!!! U pick the best movies...you have hilarious commentary and u really do bring a sense of nostalgia. Much ❤
Hell yea me too! Had it on vhs. This when I realized good girls can be hood too (Laura winslow) lol u know back then I thought the character was a real person lol
Love loved loooooved this movie when it was out. I taped it on VCR and used to watch it all the time! Thanks for covering it and have a great birthday Queen!!! ❤️❤️❤️🎊🎉🎂🎈
Nice review 1 - This was another one of those movies when the soundtrack was promoted more than the actual movie . No joke i remember as a kid i saw the posters for the soundtrack EVERYWHERE!!!!. If you lived in NYC back then like i do , you knew the street team was doing way too much - the trailer wasn’t shown on TV enough for me to be invested 2 - Yeah this was a Who’s Who and most of them were on TV shows so it felt like a made for BET movie . Still looking back on it now . This was a time capsule of 1998 trying to sell you 1998 …. great times 😂 3 - The title was originally called I-95 but for some reason they changed it at the last minute. Funny thing was when the street team put up the poster for the soundtrack - it had the original title 😂 4 - Made by the guys who brought you House Party , What????? and ironically directed by a music video director herself (Millicent Shelton) 5 - And after all that the song they used at the video shoot was to be a launching point for Dave Hollister who left Blackstreet after their first album to go solo
Downtown Julie Brown is a staple of the 90s MTV era! I can't believe I've never seen this movie, but now I'm super intrigued to watch ! I low key miss the character updates like they use to back when lol ❤ ♌️
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU FOR DOING THIS! I swear, any time I bring this movie up to someone, they’ve never seen it or heard of it. 😩 I love this movie. It’s a CULT-cult classic!

This is a nostalgic ride down memory lane for me,I remember watching this film at the movie theater. Plus in 1998 I was in the Army stationed at Ft Hood,Tx ( since renamed Ft Cavazos ) assigned to 1st Cav-Div. I had a lot of fun in the army,maybe-TOO-much fun. LOL.Haven't seen this film since 1998,but,this retro-review was very-GOOD-keep'em coming-PLEASE. PS : Wasn't Lady of Rage on the Steve Harvey show or am I tripping ??? Wish they'd make black movies like this in today's films, you know like : Barber Shop 1 & 2, Lottery Ticket & Girls Trip.
@user-be7tc2bd6e I never said I was. I grew up on an army post so I got to see troops from a lot of different units. That and 1st Cav is one of the most recognizable
i rented this movie back in the day. ... i could've sworn that it came out in 1996/1997, but i rented it when it was a new release at the video store. i wasn't into it. It didn't do much for me, but the scene when homegirl sings "Let's Stay Together" never left my mind. i've thought of her often over the years.
This was a great video recap! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 That dramatic scene Tuesday did on the bus crying, was so captivating… it was powerful, too dramatic… she’s such a versatile actor, just from this scene, I can see her in roles like Viola Davis, she needs to come back to the big screen… well🫢…

I agree, having Lita (played by Melissa D'Souza) become an XXX director at the end threw me, but the industry is crazy like that.
