30 DAYS SLEEPING ON THE FLOOR. Here's what happened to me.

- I decided to step away from the bad comments people make when you explain your reasons of why you make certain choices in your life. I want to explore who is myself and 1 thing that I always wanted to try was sleeping on the floor.
A month gone by and here I am sharing with you my experience. Did I like it?
YES! I loved it! And I am not going back whatsoever. Sleeping on the floor changed my posture plus made me taller and more confident.
I am able to get up so much more easily in the morning and able to let go that laziness that surrounded me. Also my sleep improved drastically!
I definitely recommend trying it as it can really change the way you live.
Let me know in the comments below if you tried it and whatever is on your mind when thinking of sleeping on the floor.
Thank you, love and light to you!!
I am 73 years old. Trust me - let go of what anyone ELSE thinks. The sooner you do it, the better! (You look like an intelligent, thoughtful young man.) Now, as for me - I have been a floor/slim futon sleeper for years. I have no back pain, no neck pain. I sleep deeply and wake refreshed and renewed. It is best for me. Period. If it is best for you, then there you are. No discussion needed. You don't owe anybody an explanation.
Yea i gotta try that
it is ok to sleep on concrete foor? wont the coldness of the concrete suck out heat from body?
Thank you Cynthia for your sharing amazing experience! I am really glad that sleeping on the floor worked out so well for you, it's really a small trick everyone should try out and see for themselves. Thank you again, I really appreciated your comment!!
That's why I use a tatami to put a insulation level between me and the floor :)
@@incorectulpolitic
Tatami mats help insulate from the cold floor. Even a few layers of cardboard and carpet will help. 😊😊
My husband and I have been floor sleeping for 1 month. For reference we are both overweight (currently exercising to lose it) so we were hesitant to try floor sleeping because we thought bigger people couldn’t sleep on the floor. I watched this video this morning and I agree with what he is saying. It was painful for us for the first week. We experienced pressure point pain throughout the night because we are heavier. The weird thing was when we woke up and actually got off the floor we felt great! Even better than we ever had sleeping on our mattress that costs thousands of dollars. That made us keep going with floor sleeping. We both feel stronger and healthier in our waking hours from floor sleeping. Had it not been for sleeping on the floor we wouldn’t have started our journey to lose weight. We use a thin rug and blanket but we are having a japanese floor futon made and will use that soon. Neither of us want to sleep on a mattress again. I didn’t realize how out of line my spine, neck, and shoulders were. Also, I have calcific tendonitis in both arms which caused me horrible pain. That had completely gone away with floor sleeping.
Kristin, thank you so much for sharing your experience!! That is really great to hear, I am happy to see that this worked so well for you!! Sending love and light!! Best of the luck for your journey.
Sir do you still sleep on floor?
Awesome
Hello, are still sleeping on the floor and how are you feeling now?
Stop asking questions and just do it. It’s the best thing you can do for your body. 😊
I agree with all points raised here. Within 3 nights of floor sleeping all back, shoulder and arm pain (most of which I didn't realise I had until it wasn't there any more) had gone. Brilliant.
It's way more comfortable than a mainstream bed.
instablaster.
I been sleeping on the floor for about a week. First few days was a little uncomfortable but soon after that I’ve noticed falling asleep faster and a deeper sleep, also it feels far more comfortable than the regular bed.
Well done! and thank you for sharing!!
Still going?
it's amazing but I also noticed deeper sleep! And it's been just my second night sleeping on the floor, I started doing this because I've seen a lot of people sharing testimonials that they slept less hours but still felt refreshed throughout the day, this is my goal since I wake up everyday 5:00 AM and I sleep 6 hours a night, so after seeing that many testimonials I had to give it a try, Excited to see the benefits over the following days
@@jackinsonpablanes760any updates???
Had a long running lower back injury, herniated disc, realised my soft mattress was aggravating it hugely. I'm sleeping on a yoga mat with a quilt now and it's the only thing that keeps the pain manageable.
I'm dreaming a lot more, for longer. There is something very grounding about it. It's like those weighted blankets for autistic people, except instead of the blanket weighing on me, it's my own weight pushing me into the hard floor.
It is immensely relaxing, psychologically. I really do prefer to sleep on the floor now.
Bravo❣ My husband and I (in our 80's) got rid of our mattress and are sleeping on the wood platform we built. Plus.....think of all the toxic materials in our mattresses that we are now avoiding!!!
Oh wow! That's impressive!! Kudos to you! Agree, I don't really trust any of that junk we sleep on.
Me watching your videos as I’m laying on the floor about to take a nap as I stare at my $2500 bed 😂 The floor is more comfortable to me. It’s very grounding and helps me feel better.
I totally agree with you, and I had the same experience! ahah looking at my big bed being like... what am I doing? But listening to my body felt so much better :D
Very.....GROUNDING...
Appreciate you sharing your experience bro, this was a really thorough video. I also slept on the floor for 30 days and noticed the same benefits. However I've recently went back to my bed and have noticed that my joints are beginning to feel a lot more stressed. Think its about time to go back to the floor.
Glad it helped and thank you for sharing your experience! It definitely helps going back to the floor although I doubt that this would be the cause of your joint pain, is there anything else different you have started doing?
I too feel much relief from joint pain when I sleep on the floor. No other differences. @@RobertoVolta
I grew up sleeping on the floor on something made of a plant fiber we called petate. So, now as an adult with several back issues, I have started doing it again on a yoga mat. It was hard at the beginning, specially because I am skinny and my hip bones pressure was bad. Like you I started slowly and now I am again tolerating and even enjoying like when I was a child and no having a bed like most people was not a concern.
Amazing. Thank you for sharing your story Nora!!
I started sleeping on the floor too with a futon. I am only at the beginning (about 2 weeks) and I am feeling the same hip bone pressure you're described. And I am skinny too. When did your body start to get use of it and the hip bones didn't hurt any more?
My shoulder and neck pain is completely gone with this futon. But the hip hurts.
I started to sleep on the floor about 1-2 weeks ago, and the first night I slept on the floor I didn't even have a bad night. I woke up maybe once or twice, but most of the night I was fully asleep. A week later, it feels amazing! I feel better in the morning, and I get MUCH better sleep at night. My other family members think I'm crazy lol, but it is amazing!
I actually had some sleep troubles before I started to sleep on the floor, as I was sleeping I just wasn't getting into a deep sleep, and woke up very tired in the mornings. Now I feel refreshed in the mornings! Praise the Lord for using these RUclips videos to show me to sleep on the floor to fix my problem!! Take care everybody!!!
🙏
That's amazing!! I am so glad it worked out for you too :D
You’re cute
I'm doing this to flatten out my forward head and kyphosis in my upper back. I believe the kyphosis causes my anterior pelvic tilt
Any update on your journey? I have similar issues and was going to try floor sleeping to fix them
I've had some bad back pain as of late, so I'm trying to sleep on the floor. Last night was my first attempt.
Currently, my room has no flooring, we just ripped up the carpet, I stacked up a bunch of comforter blankets and placed my yoga mat on top with a few linen sheets over it. I had to meditate until I fell asleep. I slept for a total of 4 hours on it before I decided I to crawl back onto my mattress for the rest of the night. I'm going to try for 6 hours tonight on my makeshift floor bed.
I’ve been sleeping on a Tatami mat for a couple of years, and I absolutely love it!
I find it encouraging and inspirational to find others who share in this thing called floor sleeping. 😊
Are you a side sleeper or back sleeper ? Cause can't find any people sharing their experiences with their side sleeping ... which i am
@@CosmicMindSense
Hi!
I’m primarily a side-sleeper and stomach-sleeper; I find it very difficult to sleep on my back.
I have a long body pillow which I have found to be useful and comfortable when sleeping on my side. I don’t use every time I sleep on my side, but it’s always next to me within reach throughout the night.
@@101Catarina Yea a body pillow should a great idea and it is..! ... thanks !
@@CosmicMindSense I hope it helps!
That’s amazing! Are you still sleeping on the floor?
I am thinking of selling my bed and start sleeping on a futon on the floor, don't know how thick it should be doe.
Great!! Did you end up selling your bed?
Great video Roberto, thanks for sharing your experiences. Tonight will be the 2nd night on the floor for me. I am 63 and I really want to be able to do this because it resonates with me and I don’t like possessions or furniture, plus I have back problems sometimes. Last night I did 2 hours but found it quite painful on my hips (I’m a side sleeper). I have a cot mattress which my granddaughter used when she was tiny, so I put this under my blanket after 2 hours, then I slept well. My plan is to do the same every night this week, then increase the time without the cot mattress to 3 hours next week, then increase an hour every week until I’m only on the blanket. I’m hoping that this will prevent bruising on my hips which is what happened when I tried sleeping on the floor a few years back. It was too uncomfortable so I gave up that time. So fingers crossed that I will stay with it this time!
Do you still sleep on the floor? This is the best decision I ever made
I did that too. At first I had difficultly getting up off the floor. Within 2 or 3 weeks I would spring right up. So it worked on my core. By the 4th day I slept really well. I would listen to binaural beats and just breath the first week to ease into change. It didn't do it for posture but that improved dramatically right into day hours. I felt really good. I folded a comfy comforter in three and slept on that.
Amazing experience and thank you for sharing Stephanie!! It's really amazing to see how this little habit could improve our life so much!!
I sleep on the floor for 1 week now and it’s a great feeling it improves my posture I feel I increased my height
Thank you for sharing this insight!! I appreciate that!
How much have you grown?
I slept on the floor like 4years now at first you don’t know how it was for me but now I realize we humans are capable of anything
I absolutely agree with you, we are really capable of everything!
I want to try sleeping on the floor but we sometimes have roaches and I HATE those things, and even sleeping on a Western type bed I woke up one morning to a roach 😖
Roaches aren't the best friends to wake up with... Ahah
Try to deep clean your space also energetically with sage or palo santo. You will notice a huge difference and that will drive this animals away.
@@RobertoVolta thanks! We did have an exterminator come by a couple of years ago which has greatly decreased their presence
This is a fairly pathetic reason not to go forward with something that's going to really help you in life.
Get some perspective.
Insects don’t like peppermint or lavender oil. So when you clean your floors add one of those oils. Alonso, you can make a “force field “ around your mat with peppermint or lavender oil to keep the insects from walking over to you. I’ve been doing this for years.
@@toscadonna thank you!
On my 2nd week sleeping on the floor. One of the best decisions I’ve ever made. What’s crazy is I feel it’s fixing my posture because when I’m working my desk job the chair hurts my back! Mattresses and chairs are some of the worst inventions ever made.
I’m on night 4 or 5. I feel great when I wake up, dreaming heavy throughout the night, and less back pain.
Amazing!! How do you feel now?
Roberto - great video! Thanks for sharing, I will try soon as well!
What is the tatami you're sleeping on (like a link)?
Thanks!
I do this after I couple of nights of terrible sleep on my mattress. I would wake up sweating and realized the mattress was trapping my body heat. Now I sleep on the floor and not only do I not have a heat problem anymore, my quality of sleep is much better on the floor and I feel no soreness when I wake up.
This is it!
I sleep on the floor and am always ready to go, when get up, feel tremendously than when I used to sleep in the mattress
Fantastic!! Are you still sleeping on the floor??
Will try it, I used to sleep on the floor because my bed would get too warm because I don't like AC.
Yeah man, thank you for sharing! Yeah doing it in summer is the best thing, winter can also get pretty cold at times, but with something like a tatami then you can make it.
Let me know how you feel doing it!! :D
Although I am sleeping on the floor for better dream recall, my lower back pain has vanished
Amazing! That’s really good to hear!
Do you put a pillow under your knees or just lay?
I have just given away my second bed, so I can sleep on the floor. So far I am just sleeping on my yogamat with my matress from the bed on top of it. I feel so nice to be near the ground and I have so much more space.
That's amazing!! I am so happy to hear that! Good, keep it up!
How much did you increase in height?
Last year I got rid of my traditional bed and started sleeping in a hammock or on the floor. Right now I am sleeping on the floor to change things up. And I love sleeping on the leewadee mat. Thank you for putting up this video. It is encouraging to know that others enjoy sleeping this way as well!
Thank you for sharing your story!!
Hai poi provato?
You know what fuck it im trying it tonight . Ive read loads of "i love it " coments and im curious
Hey! How did it go??
Hello, Roberto! I'm about to start sleeping on the floor, did first night 🌙 😴 seems like good idea. This video you posted a year ago, I just want to ask out of curiosity are you sleeping on the floor still? Like is it really life changing experience or you back to bed? Thx for sharing your experience ❤
I actually stopped sleeping on the floor, not because I don't like it or didn't benefit me as much, but because I live and travel with my girlfriend and together we share a bed, maybe in the future I'll convince her to sleep on a tatami like here eheh.
@@RobertoVolta thx for a feedback, bro. How long had you been sleeping though? I'm like 10 months already and I have no reasons to go back to bad actually 🤷🏼♂️😄
@@antonpohrebniak I did it for like a year throughout, but yeah it's hard going back to a bed, but I kept the habit of sleeping without pillow so that helps my neck at least. Plus I do yoga every morning and that helps my body stretch and open up. :)
@@RobertoVolta aha, ok cool. Thank you! Maybe one day I'll be back to bed with some lady as well🤷🏼♂️😅 but for now I'm enjoying floor really. Thx for your video, it helped me to discover and start this. God bless ❤
@@antonpohrebniak Ahah blessings to you brother and thank you for your honest opinion!!
By the way, I have a yoga morning routine video coming up soon, stay tuned for that too!! :D
My dad, born in 1922, grew up on a farm and always said the most comfortable sleep he ever got was sleeping on the front porch floor in the summertime. Although he and my mom slept in a bed with a mattress, he often laid on the floor to nap and “rest his back.” I find lying on the floor restful as well.
I bet that's the case, I can only imagine, napping on a warm porch with summer breeze...
Now you just have to lose the pillow.
Did you sleep on the back or on side?
I sleep on a shikibuton. It's amazing. Good video, keep it up.
Step 2 in your journey is to take cold showers :)
Hey Jalon! Yes I tried and so far I only succeeded on having like a 10 seconds cold water at the end. But it's something already! ⚡
Do you take cold showers?
Every day! Sometimes just before bed...it makes your sleep even deeper.
Are you still sleeping on the floor @robertovolta?
Hi, Pania, I am currently restarting sleeping on the floor. I took a long break because my fiancé and I slept on a bed. She's currently transitioning, so soon again on the floor. :)
I started to sleep as well, It has been one week so far😆
I got a puzzle mat and I sleep on that, it was way cheaper than a tatami
Cold showers also have great benefits
That’s right! I’m going to do a video soon about it, stay tuned!!
You will always fall asleep faster because of the grounding affects
Totally agree!
Hey!! This is a great video! Where did you order your Tatami Mat? :) thank you!
Hey, sorry for the late reply, I got it at a local shop, actually my mum did for my birthday ahah
Mattresses are pour choices often
Between my shoulder blades to my neck was numb one day
carpet floor or non carpet floor ?
I am sleeping on a yoga mat. I sorta already slept on the floor on a padded blanket during my teen years so this is not a huge transition. Invest in a good pillow. I don't think I can ever go back to a regular bed.
I agree with you! Thank you for sharing your experience!
Sleeping on the floor gradually fixes ANY misalignment of the spine. Whether its overcurvature or loss of curvature. Im confident our bodies were always meant to sleep on the floor and mattresses are just for business
This is it! Couldn’t say it with better wording
Also beds are petroleum products it will effect your skin, hormones and gut health.
Very true!!
The lower back arch is called pelvis tilt
Wonderful !!! _The people who make fun of you actually thought there was a pandemic and they wore their assMASKs dutifully._
You know what, I'm going to try it. Can knock it until you've tried it.
Good way of putting it!
In what position do you sleep on the floor?
I've slept on the floor for years. I feel suffocated in a bed. I don't even like pillows. They make my neck hurt. I don't think having your head proped up is natural or healthy.
I love sleeping on the floor on thin mat, it has changed my life. I feel more motivated to keep my house clean. I feel more grateful and humble on the floor. When I was on a bed frame it made me egotistical lazy and i would not clean my floor for days. interesting right haha
Love that! That's exactly what I mean!!
What position do you all sleep in on the floor? Do you have to sleep on your back for it to work?
I've been sleeping on a yoga mat with some cushy blankets for a little over a month, I think. I used to sleep on my stomach most of the time when I still slept in a bed, and sometimes on my sides, but never on my back. But now that I'm on the floor, as time goes on I'm finding that stomach sleeping isn't as comfortable anymore, and side and back sleeping are becoming more normal for me.
I sleep on the floor all the time
Amazing! Are you keeping it up??
@@RobertoVolta I did for a whole summer
Roberto, you are so cute! I am going to try this and I am excited and who cares what other people think. Do what you want!❤
Have fun! Thank you, I hope it's good for you too!
You're the first person I've ever heard say what I know about sleeping on the floor, but only 30 days?
I did it for 30 days and recorded the video, I then continued doing so for a while. Then went back to a normal matress, and now transitioning back to the floor.
@@RobertoVolta I did it for the better part of 15 years, I only stopped when I got into relationships where my partner would not have it..but thank you for your work with your videos, they truly are helpful and inspiring for me.
After two nights on the floor, I tossed out my bed and will determine what I need over time. Likely tatami w/ 3" futon. Since my kitty likes to sleep close to me, I will buy a queen size instead of twin size.
This is something i used to do for a night if i was having backaches and couldn't get comfortable on a bed and it would feel much better the next day. I have been doing it now every night for a couple weeks and haven't had any back pain at all and the best part is i used to notice when i shower that my chest/ribcage was at a crooked angle from my tummy, and they are now aligned straight. I thought this was scoliosis and i had no control over without seeing a doctor. Biggest issue for me is I'm mostly a side sleeper and very skinny so i do wake up with sore hips sometimes.
Will you keep doing this?
I do when I sleep alone. Now I am in a relationship and it's difficult to involve the other person as well. But whenever I am alone, definitely yes. This is my way of sleeping.
U need a proper shikibuton (japanese futon)
Sure, whatever is more comfortable for you. :)
Excellant!
I am going to try this! Thank you!!
Amazing! How did it go?
Anche questo video super interessante! Grazie 💪🏼
Grazie mille a te Fra, e fammi sapere se dicidi di provarci! :D
Can I sleep on a couch? Cause I don’t have yoga couch

Try and let me know :)
You joined a Movement with this bro 😂💪
Great Roberto!! Keep going ✌️
Thank you so much brother! I hope that you’re doing well in NYC! Sending a hug from Switzerland! :)
Are you Chilean?
Swiss
I've been sleeping on the floor for 8 years now
What’s ur height?
Thanks for the video. I'm curious if it comes down to body type if this works or not.
Personally I've tested it out a few nights and I like it. I use a carpet + double yoga mat and that's fine. My body is a bit more curved than yours and as such I find it hard to lay in an optimal way and I'm curious if that's where body type makes a big difference. I'm also still searching for a good pillow solution as my normal pillow is too low to make this work.
Hey! Thank you for your comment, yeah I believe body types play a big role in adapting and in the pain you feel. But I am sure as other people commented that after a while your body just get used to it! How’s it going??
You are you! Congratulations!
Yes I am! Thank you :)
