    You know, I never listened to Mesh. Because of this video I went to my Apple Music for a listen. I’m blow away! I cant believe I’ve been missing out on this band for all these years. Ugh!

    More MESH - thanks Vaughn! And we even have another to look forward to. I wouldn't even know where to start in that studio, so I appreciate the in-depth look. Richard has quite an impressive list of influences ...and equipment.
    Love the Geek Talk intro too.

    Hi Vaughn.
    I do not know how old you are or averege viewers of your ....brilliant....videos are.I´m born 1967 so I´ve been through the whole period of making music in the "early"days.Maybe it´s time for a video which shows how electronic music was made pre computer and pre samplers.With analouge synths,drum machine and maybe a sequenser.What a hell it was to sync and to program the early stuff.But it was a great era of pioneering.But it might give the younger viewers some perspective.
    Must say that this kind of "geek talk" gives me some satisfaction.More of that.please.I´m sure that plenty will agree.

    It's wishful thinking I am sure but making things easier has a flip side. The music of old sounded the way it did because of the way you had to do stuff. I don't miss those days in a sense but less is more and we have too much choice today!

    I would also like to see a video about De/vision, if you know them, in my opinion the best electronic band in the world, they sound more Depeche than Depeche mode 😀 perfect band, fantastic melodies, vocals, synths, everything - they tour with Mesh ftom time to time

    What a treat this was! Seeing the gear a band you like use is always fun, like how a magician do their tricks. And fun to see a MS2000, my first synth, but hardly ever use it anymore. But some great tips here for it, might have to try it out :-)

    The Emax II was released as early as in 1989, but it was the Emu sampler from the 80:s that you least of all would want to own since it didn't have analogue filters (not counting the Emulator 1 dinosaur). Not that it is bad, but there's something very special with a sampler that has analogue filters that are as good as the ones in the EMU:S.
    The one that Alan Wilder is famously showing off his "liveset 101" sounds on in 1988, is the original Emax.
    ruclips.net/video/z8TXjhWCQPE/видео.html
    But they probably used the Emax II on, at least, Violator.
    On the other hand, Wilder used his old Emulator 2 on his recoil albums...

  • @grimlund
    @grimlund 4 года назад +1

    A question here. I use a workstation with a built in sequenser when I making music. But how does it works for this guy when its time for the producers to mix down his recordings? Does he sample all the songs and send a file to their studio? And how does the producers work on this thing? Do they hav to have similar software tools? Cubase in this case.

    • @VaughnGeorge
      @VaughnGeorge  4 года назад

      The finished mixes are bounced down into wav files. Rich then sits with a mix engineer to complete the final mixes. VG:-)

    • @grimlund
      @grimlund 4 года назад

      @@VaughnGeorge Ok. So the whole mix is allmost done by Rich him self.
      And then there are just a few minor changes and mastering that the engineer do?

    Vaughn, on 17th minute we can see some Yamaha, Korg TR-Rack stuff etc. Can you explain, how it's called, what are these things doing, and why musicians use them?

    • @VaughnGeorge
      @VaughnGeorge  4 года назад

      The Yamaha Tone generator and the Tr Rack are basically rack mounted synthesisers. In otherwords, "Synthesizers in a box" without keyboards. You connect a controller keyboard to them in order to play the sounds. VG:-)
