I used to enjoy Lancaster Jethawks games. Sadly they don't exist anymore. Many of the locals would take players in during the season rent free. I was shocked to find out how poorly paid they are. MLB is also cutting costs they dropped affiliations with 40 minor league organizations. Greed.

I remember the jethawks. I live in Stockton and they would play the ports all the time in the 90s. So many good memories st the ball park

The issue is the housing and food costs when you might be sent up and down constantly. You can't keep food stocked up, it's harder to have a family with you, and it's almost impossible to pay rent in multiple cities.

Who’s here because they just saw that in 2022, owners are now providing housing!!

The minors have never paid well. However yes the mlb team owners should have to take care of there housing at least with food.

ima have to go to a couple of these games and bring these boys a plate and some orange slices! These dudes are really going through it. How are you gonna hit a walk-off and then catch the public bus back to your air mattress! Guys in the dugouts with growling tummies probably this shit is so sad!

It’s terrible that MLB is forcing them to play baseball.

      Lol, that's a good sarcasm.
But at the same time you need to realize that $4/hour wages is ridiculous. Last time I check America is a first world country.

damn it’s almost as if these guys are trying to achieve their dreams of playing in the big leagues and seeing below average players get paid millions while they’re barely making 20k

Matt antonelli baseball youtube has covered this many times as a former 1st round draft pick and mostly minor league player. he breaks down all the pay structure for his time and it is appauling. i not saying that these players should get 100k a year. but their expenses imo should be covered. hotel, apartment reasonable food wage. etc. also if the news did their homework they know the MINOR leaguers go to first month of baseball warmups and its NOT PAID.................... all out of pocket for the players again........ so as much as u want to make this look bad you missed some key details.

It is about greed. If Royals will charge 45.00 for parking close to the stadium.
Concession prices are off the charts.
I don't go to games. People with a family can easily drop 500 at a game.
Profit, money but nothing for minor leaguers.
    Sad

Each player should have a minimum of 3000 a month towards housing but that won't happen.

I'm so glad rugby takes care of all their players, from grassroots level as a 5yr old all the way thru to International test level. I was paid $25 a day back when I was like 10 years old lol.

i think they need to cut down on minor league teams......... and use those savings to treat players right. or make the billionairs shill out some extra money. personally i quit watching all major sports because i sick of how all these billionairs treat their players.

Dude I would sleep in a tent behind the practice field for a shot at a minor league contract. Its about working your way up through the minor league towards the MLB majors. People don't actually expect to make money in the minors, do they?

@@Blop934 it's more like 15k per year. More or less than that depending on the player and how long they've been with the league.

Yea imagine trying to work your way up the minor league as a professional athlete and you have to sleep in a living room floor on a mattress and all you can afford to eat is a chicken sandwich from McDonalds every night. Doesn't really sound like you are given the best opportunity to recover/perform very well.

@@Blorkion64 Its not the same thing. This isn't about you. People are living far worse than minor league ball players, that's true. The point is that these guys can't get another job during the season because all their time is spent on the field or traveling. Nobody expects to make big money when they are in the minor leagues but you would think it would be enough to ear properly and not live in a 2 bedroom apt with 7 other people
