This has to be one of my favourite ever cliffhangers. It's that moment when he says "right, cut it, now!" And sil laughs. It's one of the most eerie moments in doctor who history
I love the subtle double-meaning of this cliffhanger. We are like the two nameless citizens of Varos, watching this cruel torture of a liked character as entertainment. And then, just as the in-universe TV director says to cut it... now! The credits roll. Genius, a subtle fourth wall break done so very well.
I've come to appreciate this story more over the years due to its slight foreshadowing of today's reality TV show oversaturation. I say "slight" only because we haven't gotten to the point yet where viewers vote to actually determine whether someone lives or dies.

Vengeance of Varos was pre Running Man.
I know Doctor Who did stories on the Media already, like Varos and Bad Wolf but we could definitely use another one for the 13th Doctor.
Mark Hester Agreed. Both stories you mentioned are great, but we need more.
Seeing Chibnails’ run and how he handles the 13th Doctor, I think a media-satire episode would be made as one big uneducated jab at alternative media.
@@rayvenkman2087 Better then an uneducated jab at the mainstream media... 🙄
Such a tense cliffhanger..😁
Michael Grade in a nutshell.
Vengeance on Varos is one of my favorite Doctor Who stories of all time.
In Season 22 it had a solid 7 million viewers average for the whole season. Nonetheless Michael Grade said: 3:22
One of the finest cliffhangers in doctor who
No! no! Not the blue screen desert no! Please no! Ahhhhhh!
Michael Grade: 3:22
lol
Pretty much.
Colin was such a vivid, vibrant Doctor.
Do the Yeti fight in The Web of Fear.
Patrick Burke sort of.. great episode tho
While I don't necessarily care for this story, this is definitely one of the best cliffhangers in Classic Who.
Do you comment on _every_ DW video? I swear I keep seeing your comments everywhere I go
I care for this story.
@@SegaNintendoGuy64 So do I. It teaches us about the dangers and horrors of televised violence.
