@@GregGarciaHouse Just a minor correction. The games are well developed when they have sufficient time to finish. There are many features in these games that are well-thought out and well-implemented. When they run out of time and have to rush, cut corners or simply not address problems because of bad scheduling, that is what ultimately hurts the end product. The devs themselves are smart and competent. The credits lists several devs from Xenoblade and Breath of the Wild for example, which they had to pull in to help meet the deadline. The issue was clearly awful time management. The game needed a longer schedule. We know this is the case because the credits list WAY too many contract studios, which they no doubt hired to help meet the deadlines. They need to give themselves 3-4 years to make their games instead of 1-2.
What bothers me the most is all those QoL improvements and freedom we had in Legends Arceus that are now just gone and reverted back to the old formula, such as mandatory wild encounter battles, no alternative ways of catching Pokemon other than just engaging in battle and removal of Pokemon personality by just making them roam there and basically wait for you to interact with them. I just don't understand how can they take so many steps back from a game that already had so much going for it, instead they made a blurry mess that looks and plays worst than Arceus while also removing important open world features. Major disappointment.
Irene, I have to compliment you by saying you’re the only content creator I’ve ever seen who actually uses the products from your sponsorships, the chain around your neck I remember from a previous video and the switch accessories always make an appearance in your videos - that actually makes us as the viewer more likely to buy since you use everything yourself

Yes I really enjoyed the exploration part of the game! And I love how you can see the Pokémon and that helps you build up your Pokédex. So now, for the first time ever, my goal is to catch as many Pokémon as I can to fill it up. It’s so fun!
How sad, this game had so much potential. They just rushed it, if they could've just waited a bit. Everything could've been so much better for everyone
I really enjoyed your review, Irene! I am also playing the Violet version. I’m enjoying the open work aspect of the game so far. It wouldn’t have bothered me one bit if they delayed this game until the Spring/Summer season, because I’m willing to bet that this game would be in a much better state that it’s in right now.
I bought Scarlet. By and large it was fine for me. Lag was mostly noticeable in some of the ocean areas but over all I didn't have a real issues with glitches. The game is great in my opinion though. I'm picking up violet next. Gotta catch those future paradox now lol
This is a game that you absolutely *can't* blame the hardware for the performance AND visuals, its just pure incompetence from Game Freak.. Just look at many other big games, what you can achieve with the Switch when you care about your game.. BOTW, Xenoblade games, DOOM, Dying Light etc. Scarlet & Violet has so much potential cause the gameplay side is almost spot on. but thank you Ircha for this great review!
Scarlet & Violet has like the best story out of all the previous titles. I actually like that the shinies don't make a sound I like how you need to just look at them and focus on the details. Speaking of details it felt like they spent most of their time on making the food look really good and totally forgot about the rest of the world, lol. Speaking of details, have you seen the bread and sandwiches in the only shop you can go inside, I was like 😳 “Why do the sandwiches look so real!?!?!” Even if you use the switches zoom function to zoom in on the bread it still looks extremely good. 🤜🏻🤛🏻
It seems like a pretty ok game if you can look past it’s problems. Nintendo should fix it or lower its price at least. Even if it’s fun you can’t really justify $60 for a buggy game.
I’m still having a blast even with all the glitches. Just got my 18th badge!! This was the first game I’ve ever streamed on twitch, it’s been such a fun ride!!
and this is why they can release pokemon games like this. instead of criticizing the game your going to 15 frames you're way through the game and say it was great
How can you say maybe the switch is holding the game back performance wise or graphically when there's great looking games like breath of the wild and many others on the switch that I'm sure you've played
Even with all the glitches I'm actually happy Nintendo decided to go with this route since Pokemon Arceus wasn't so bad. I'm really hoping Nintendo will expand on the co-op and make it almost like an MMO Pokemon game. Hopefully you caught all the new Pokemon !
Scarlet and Violet are perfectly enjoyable just the way they are. Yes, there are some issues that need fixing, but there are no game breaking issues or anything preventing story progression. I have already completed both games and I thoroughly enjoyed both games just as I thoroughly enjoyed all the other pokemon games. I play Pokemon games because I enjoy them. I don’t really care about graphics, fps, glitches, or whatever else. games don’t have to be perfect masterpieces to be enjoyable. I say these games are definitely worth the money.
i feel like with the resources nintendo and game freak have, they should be shooting for quality and world design on par with DQ11. I think pokemon would look great in that style, and we know dq11 runs perfectly fine on switch, so what is the excuse???
The game is easy, until you finish the main story. Then catching a Pokemon will cost 73 pokeballs with a lvl 80 Pokemon to catch a lvl 10 PokeMONSTER....
I also bought Violet and I enjoy playing it. Its so open world actually i love picking up item for "FREE" hehehe and I love catching Pokemon and discovering New Pokemon and evolving them . Overall 100% enjoyable game .
Even with all the glitches the game looks kinda neat. My switch has been in a drawer for months. I actually thought about trying the Xenoblade games or Fire Emblem Three Houses, but I can’t stop PC gaming long enough to try.
I'm still enjoying this game with the current issues, people point to time constraints for why these games have turned out the way they have. That might be true to some degree but I just look at the Atelier franchise and their time of development is around the 18 months or so, keeping this in mind that augment starts to lose a bit of steam.
its not really time constraints though other pokemon games with longer dev times still have some of these problems just not as bad. they release games like this because people will still buy it
I agree with you in so many aspects. The excitement of visiting towns are just not there. As the towns look dull, just buildings adjacent to one another on a flat ground. To me, the towns are more like an oasis. Comparing to towns in Dragon Quest or Ni No Ku Ni, Pokémon’s towns are below mediocre. Most restaurants are just menu (wth!). Graphics wise is really sad. Don’t get me wrong, I love Pokémon, in fact, I grew up with it. Maybe I am expecting too much from it. I am still enjoying it nevertheless.
I had fun playing this and I tend to play pokemon in a minimum level needed to muscle my way through rather than have godlike teams. I feel that helps with the strategic play vs dominating everywhere. That being said, this game has underwhelming character designs outside of the mass marketed professors and the mounts. NPCs are bland, Clothes are lame, towns are not really exciting and the gym leaders are boring. The Star team is more interesting but they even fall short with them all having the same car thought the typing changes. The world was too big and empty in areas that didnt really need to be that big. The best area is Area 0 visually, music, and team banter. Again, I liked it but it needs to be dialed in from here to nail that open world pokemon experience.
I've been looking forward to this review, you are clearly an expert on pokemon games. It's a shame about the issues, I still would like to buy it some day, hopefully there will be more patches by then. I'm waiting for a sale anyway so it could be a long wait 😅
I left 2 comments... I can't find them here... I think they were to lengthy... in short... Irene 10/10 review. Such a review...lol Frankie Link.. ur biggest fan in the states!!!
I just finished the Team Star storyline. I also finished the titan pokemon storyline and all the gyms. All I have left is the elite 4 and champion. I'm not sure if there's anymore after that. Graphics issues and occasional lag aside, I've been really enjoying this game. I've never caught this many pokemon (I currently have around 230 caught). I once got to the champion in Pokemon Gold, but never beat him (I probably could do it now). Otherwise, I haven't gotten this far in a Pokemon game. I love exploring and seeing all the Pokemon walking around. That's probably my favorite part of the game. The story is decent, but not great (I don't really play it for the story though). Like you said, this game is pretty easy except the battles towards the end. I think I've had my team faint once, maybe twice total so far. The battles at the end of the Team Star and the Titan Pokemon stories were pretty challenging and I almost lost, but didn't. I started playing Pokemon Fire Red on the side since other family members sometimes have the Switch and I wanted to try beating an older game. Many of the trainers in that game have more than 2 pokemon and I've had my team faint quite a few times already. It's more challenging. However, I don't mind that the new games are easy. Sometimes, difficulty makes me get frustrated and quit. This game is a nice relaxing time. I'm looking forward to actually finishing my first Pokemon game (I will do it this time. I have a tendency to quit games part of the way through or near the end). I'm so close! I might even try to catch all the pokemon since I enjoy that part a lot.
Not gonna lie I preordered the game after your video about trip to London and had high expectations after your first review and I was very disappointed at first. But over time I kinda got used to the frame rate and learned to like the game... I still think it isn't good and the story is what saves it
I’m really enjoying the game as a casual fan of the series. I wish it looked better but it hasn’t actually affected my gameplay that much. The only problem is Pokémon not loading in around me until I’m really close so sometimes I run into them when I don’t want to lol. I haven’t used the food and cooking at all so I wish graphics were more refined instead.
Over 100 hours in violet and around 30 or so in scarlet completed both main stories I ran into maybe 1 bug I had to reload and the only real other glitches I've seen happen is you can sometimes see through the floor of the map or pokemon spawn in walls. Other then that the game runs great and I honeslty think the "glitcheness" is a bit overblown, then again maybe a lot of people have just never played a bethesda game or cyberpunk lol.
Low Framerate, obvious and blatant asset pop-ins, Weird Camera zoom-ins, N64 Level of textures.. Now in multiplayer make those problems bigger since bugs and glitches happen more in multiplayer.. Probably you just have a very low standard in terms of quality and that's fair I guess? Sadly this kind of issues should not be ignored because for a company like pokemon releasing a game like this?? It's just so bad.. Good for you if you didn't felt the bugs and glitches tho sadly alot of people does.
I love these games, but I think it’s funny that Pokémon Company seems like they just figured out how to make games for 7th gen consoles. If Nintendo let Monolith make a Pokémon game it would probably be the best title in the series by far.
I’ve found myself looking at and capitalising the Pokémon’s abilities more than I ever have. Honestly the graphics are trash. It feels like a game that was made years and years ago with all of the frame rate and glitch issues. I also have been finding it unusually easy but I do really love just cruising around filling my Pokédex up. This is a poor title overall to back up legends arceus 🤷🏼♀️
i've been waiting to hear your review on this! i always appreciate your reviews so much and feel like we have very similar interests in games. however you didn't seem as thrilled about being able to bathe and play with the pokemon as i am 😂 i think it's the cutest thing ever. im getting scarlet for christmas and cant wait to try it despite all of its issues.
Absolutely agree with everything you said @ircha Gaming spot on!!! It definitely needed more development time the glitches and bugs and problems with it are frustrating at times I had a great time with the games but the problems with it still I’ve had to take a break from them as the raid battles with others are bugged as hell and have serious issues😵💫 thanks for such a great detailed review
Would you says the performance for Rune Factory 5 is worse or better than Pokemon S&V on the Switch? I've been wanting to get Rune Factory 5 but watched your review on it where you talked about the poor performance. I was wondering if it's on par with Pokemon S&V performance.
I heard the clothes were limiting. A buddy of mine is a long term Pokémon fan and he’s wasn’t impressed with the uniforms. Heard there’s no skirt option too just shorts- savage!
I'm 20 hours into Pokemon Violet and really enjoying it so far. I don't know if there have been fixes or my eyes are just bad and not able to see the graphical glitches.
You did a great review. Although Pokémon Scarlet and Violet have a lot of issues, specially in terms of performance, they also have good ideais, like paradox pokémon and their diverse pokédex. I agree with you that they're bittersweet games.
I am glad that Xbox/Microsoft and Nintendo are talking to each other. We never know, but it would be great if these versions of Pokemon come to Xbox. (without gliches ).
I think I got a lot more enjoyment out of the game but most of your criticisms are valid. I think I would have to give it a 7.5 but I enjoyed more than any other game I've played rated under 8.
I do enjoy it but the performance issues definitely make me lessen my play time. I can only take so much before it makes me want to put it down and play something else 😅 great review though, Ircha!
Hi there, new subscriber here. I enjoyed and mostly agree with your review. However the one thing I would disagree with is about the switch itself. I think the switch is still very good, look at the witcher 3 port, xenoblade 3, dying light port, doom, breath of the wild, etc. Those are all big games squeezed onto the switch and arguably have less glitches than pokemon S/V. I hope many of the problems can be fixed in a patch but the best we can all do as a community is do not buy the next game unless it is in a much better state. Money is the only language corporations speak fluently.
I was so excited to play it but sadly the performance took so much of the excitement out of it that I played 3 hours and haven't felt like coming back to it ): I'm still going to, but I'm just so sad that they didn't take the time they needed to make it an actual finished product.
As I'm Portuguese, I just didn't like to mix Portuguese and Spanish cultures, being two different countries with different languages and different cultures
Definitely not a case of a definitely or maybe an 8 if it didn't have the performance issues. Easily would be a 9 with an 8 not even in consideration. For me anyway.
Or one can easily buy, if one can afford them, the actual Violet and Scarlet Pokémon card games? Less glitchey! Great resale value as well down the road if kept in near mint conditions! Invest vs buy?!
I havent encounter any real bugs if I am honest. Maybe cause I started playing with the patch but I coudnt tell any bugs happening. The graphics are of course bad no question but the gameplay is very fun and the most enjoyable Pokemon title I played for a while. If Gamefreak gets a better console the potential is very huge and I think there vision of the game was very limited due to the switch system. I would recommend this game to every Pokemon fan and maybe even newbies but maybe they will have a harder time because of the graphics
I kind of got the vibe you weren’t going through the best time in your life when you played it. I didn’t like Shield because James Turner is odd and thought brilliant diamond was monotonous at times but this one seems solid.
Unfortunately, I don't think we're going to get Nintendo to improve this game via firmware update. Nintendo and Game Freak are already focusing all their attention on the next Pokemon game to be released late in the year 2024. And all we do is just hope that that game is released in a better State than Pokemon scarlet and violet were released in.
I’m digging it as my first Pokémon and thankfully the performance hasn’t been bad. But I play lots of Switch games so the bar isn’t very high. But yeah the map sucks lol
Im sorry you didn’t enjoy it as much as you thought you would. I’m personally loving it. I’ve had no performance issues apart from some slowing down in cities and I love the mechanics in general. I’m going to actually try to catch them all this time around 😅
Excellent review... 👍 I guess I am kind of done with Nintendo right now for their low quality games and rather play all Assassin´s Creed games on PS4 ... Even on Switch games CAN look pretty though ( for example Monster Hunter Rise , Zelda BOTW, Astral Chain and so on...), so there is really no excuse to make games that look like video games from caveman times ...
She only got to preview of what they let her preview... (for this review) she was able to experience the full game and that is what a review is... she only gave a quick impression/ description of her preview in London...
Aww 😍😆 maybe I need to appreciate my Bellibolt showers more!
06.37 its that you in that video are they hire you to become video game chracters model ?
Absolutely agree with everything you said @ircha Gaming spot on!!! It definitely needed more development time the glitches and bugs and problems with it are frustrating at times I had a great time with the games but the problems with it still I’ve had to take a break from them as the raid battles with others are bugged as hell and have serious issues😵💫 thanks for such a great detailed review
THANKS 😍❤️
Has the game been fixed with patches or is it still buggy?
Would you says the performance for Rune Factory 5 is worse or better than Pokemon S&V on the Switch? I've been wanting to get Rune Factory 5 but watched your review on it where you talked about the poor performance. I was wondering if it's on par with Pokemon S&V performance.
Nothing is worse than Scarlet and Violet 😅😅👍 so Rune Factory 5 is way better.
I heard the clothes were limiting. A buddy of mine is a long term Pokémon fan and he’s wasn’t impressed with the uniforms. Heard there’s no skirt option too just shorts- savage!
Thanks for the review. I always wait for a sale or discount anyway so hopefully some will be fixed by the time I get it.
Was that an update for Call of Juarez I saw on your screen? I just recently got that game
No it was me re-downloading it because it's such a good game and I haven't played it in a long while 😂 👍
How is the game looking like now? have they improved it?
They fixed most of the major bugs but the game did not get better
I still played it and beat it, I thought it was alright glitches and all. I personally think arceus was the better game in 2022
I am glad that Xbox/Microsoft and Nintendo are talking to each other. We never know, but it would be great if these versions of Pokemon come to Xbox. (without gliches ).
I think I got a lot more enjoyment out of the game but most of your criticisms are valid. I think I would have to give it a 7.5 but I enjoyed more than any other game I've played rated under 8.
I just pulled a lot of hair out of my ear. So much winning!!
Love the atmosphere
The only game this bad of performance I can remember recently was Rune Factory 5. It ran like shit
I’m gonna get it still.
I hope they release a 3rd version fixing these issues like in the past games.
So glad you covered the new Pokémon Game If i get it I probably won't play it much until its fixed
Sounds like they've tried to make the open world too big. Perhaps they needed to have more loading screen and smaller zones.
I think I will wait a year or two before I buy it
I was so excited to play it but sadly the performance took so much of the excitement out of it that I played 3 hours and haven't felt like coming back to it ): I'm still going to, but I'm just so sad that they didn't take the time they needed to make it an actual finished product.
I've never agreed more with a video, really!
Thanks 😁 🤗 ❤️
As I'm Portuguese, I just didn't like to mix Portuguese and Spanish cultures, being two different countries with different languages and different cultures
You have a pleasant voice. You're gonna have the coolest old person voice.
Great review , massive inspiration you’d smaller creators 👌👌
Definitely not a case of a definitely or maybe an 8 if it didn't have the performance issues. Easily would be a 9 with an 8 not even in consideration. For me anyway.
Or one can easily buy, if one can afford them, the actual Violet and Scarlet Pokémon card games? Less glitchey! Great resale value as well down the road if kept in near mint conditions! Invest vs buy?!
Hope they would fix some issues 😊for much enjoyable game play. Like the video for your honest review.
ooh I've been waiting for your opinion on this game 💛
I think it we confirmed that it was just Gamefreaks fault for not polishing the game enough as to why bugs are so prominent.
Yes! Someone else who picked up violet 😅
I have this game Voilet Version. I couldn't beat it yet.
Am I only here for Ircha, not for games?
I totally agree with your review! They should do so much better... But then 7/10? I don't get it... It's 5/10 tops
Pokémon through its flaws
We're still gonna play it
I’m digging it as my first Pokémon and thankfully the performance hasn’t been bad. But I play lots of Switch games so the bar isn’t very high. But yeah the map sucks lol
Cute ☺ claw clip irsha as shown on 0:04.
Will you be reviewing Dragon Quest Treasures?
I'm playing it now 😆 I will talk about it soon yes 😁
I totally agree but i still got a lot of enjoyement out of pkmn. I didnt experience all those glitches tho.
Im sorry you didn’t enjoy it as much as you thought you would. I’m personally loving it. I’ve had no performance issues apart from some slowing down in cities and I love the mechanics in general. I’m going to actually try to catch them all this time around 😅
Filling a Pokedex has always been a fun challenge 😊👍
Excellent review... 👍
I guess I am kind of done with Nintendo right now for their low quality games and rather play all Assassin´s Creed games on PS4 ... Even on Switch games CAN look pretty though ( for example Monster Hunter Rise , Zelda BOTW, Astral Chain and so on...), so there is really no excuse to make games that look like video games from caveman times ...
You sure as hell was talking about how fantastic and fun the game was when Nintendo invited you to play their demo though right?
She only got to preview of what they let her preview... (for this review) she was able to experience the full game and that is what a review is...
she only gave a quick impression/ description of her preview in London...
I'm sure u knew that already... but u are coming off as someone who thinks she is contradicting herself...
Watch this video again 😛
Great video
Glad you enjoyed it👌
The internet explorer of RUclips xDDDD
I take my time with my reviews yes, I never rush out something just to ride the hype algorithm. I prefer to have played a game a lot and deliver a thorough review.
I'm confused. Your Review sounded kind of negative but a 7/10 rating is actually good lol. Not sure if I should buy it or not
