Ever heard of common sense? If consumer awareness is really a thing then govt should make people aware of carcinogenic substances in cotton candy. Not banning it. Then consumer would be aware and would avoid it. But no. It's cotton candy here. Not alcohol. Govt would loss plenty of money if it bans alcohol.

@@FastFlash-k4j except government cannot go after every random man selling cotton candy on street. Alcohols and ciggs are sold by huge corporates on whom govt can apply pressure for consumer awareness.... how many cotton candy sellers do you know are registered under government as cotton candy seller for government to take action against them?? Common sense left the chat. If you are gonna govt should advertise about its danger instead of forcing sellers to raise awareness, how many peeps do have TV? Who watches cable? Food grade dye requires more investment than cheap dye colours used in non edible substances. Many factories to earn extra money use these cheap dyes. Some even find their own loopholes through the system . Moreover there are no warning lables on product. Hence many people eat it without awareness. Hence it is completely justified to ban cheap cotton candy.

While it's true that alcohol and cigarette sales contribute significantly to TN's revenue, it's important to recognize the fundamental difference in their consumption demographics. Unlike cotton candy, which is often consumed by small children who may not have full awareness of its ingredients, alcohol and cigarettes are typically consumed by adults who are well aware of the potential risks associated with it. Additionally, stringent regulations and age restrictions are in place to limit access to these products by minors.while both contribute to revenue, the decision to ban cotton candy due to harmful food colorings aims to protect the health and well-being of children who may not have the same level of consumer
awareness. Therefore, comparing cotton candy with alcohol is just nonsense.People should learn to bec more pragmatic and decessive instead of just mocking TN or let alone any State Instead let's appreciate their efforts.

No not all consumers are adults some of them school students and from there they get used to consuming intoxicants mainly coolip, hukkah etc. without proper guidance they cannot come out of it, even if they get aware of the harms and decide to come out of it, their health might've already deteriorated by the time they realise. Nowadays even adults can figure out what's necessary and what's not, so one should be matured enough to take responsibility or to decide something, from this point of view government should take strict actions on other cancer causing consumables.

If govt really cares about people's health then why wouldn't it ban alcohol? Coz most of the money they get is from alcohol business.

All the intoxicants like cigarettes and alcohol must have a warning label on them whereas foods like these are generally regarded as harmless, so comparing alcohol with cotton candy is kinda stupid 😅

Most of the people who sell these are North Indians. They want them to go back. They would have just banned colours not the entire candy. 😢

Should have banned the colour/chemical instead What about the 10000's of people Selling cotton candy Banning the colour /chemical or Allowing only Colourless or Chemical less candy would be better option 1000's are now unemployed and more poor

Why dont goverment ban Other harmful things? Where is the educatedness? The fact that cotton candy sellers must not be giving the tax and that is simple
