    Hey, you are the only one who has a step by step video for the FA 500 S G7, thanks alot for the great video. I have i question please and i hope you can help. So did you set the preload as per FA, fron 1/4 and rear 1/8? Also how many inches you left between the locking rings for the rear and the back? 3 inches, am asking because i will go with the same setup? Thanks alot in advance

      Very interested in the answer to this question 😬 you had a 3 and 1/4 gap you measured between lock rings in the front. What gap did you measure in the back?

    You can adjust the rear without taking the control arm loose. The strut will thread up or down despite the absence of a radial bearing. If your preload collar is locked down real tight you can grab that and spin the whole thing by hand without affecting preload.

    • @WRXGarage
      @WRXGarage  3 года назад +1

      I don't think that is true, definitely not for the models of coilovers that we've experienced. The threaded body is fixed to the top plate. If you're able to spin your rears the way you've described, there's something wrong.

    • @BKersey
      @BKersey 3 года назад

      @@WRXGarage Just installed my FA500 coilovers on my WRX. I can assure you this is how I did it. If the preload collar is locked down tight af, when you grab it with your hand and turn it, the whole threaded portion of the strut spins up or down, depending on the adjustment you're after.

    • @WRXGarage
      @WRXGarage  3 года назад +2

      I'm 99% sure it's not supposed to do that.. I'm going to reach out to FA and see what they say.

    Awesome video man. I ordered my set. I noticed that only the front coilovers have the camber plate on it. Are the rear sets suppose to have them too or no? Also, did you have to camber your rears? how did you do it? Sorry for all the questions. I've been searching all over the internet for answers specifically for this brand.

    • @WRXGarage
      @WRXGarage  4 года назад +1

      Hey man! Thanks! Most coilovers for the 15+ platform don't have camber plates in the rear and people just do lower control arms instead, but some companies do offer them. At this point, I think I'm running about 2deg camber front and rear as-is, so I don't think I'll ever need to do that. The rears will camber themselves naturally as you lower them on the stock LCAs

    • @bxrecon19d
      @bxrecon19d 4 года назад

      @@WRXGarage thanks for taking the time to reply and the advice. I did some more research on the rear camber. I was glad to see that you'll naturally get camber when lowering. I'll still be purchasing the control arms as well, just to achieve the look I'm going for. Thanks again.

    • @WRXGarage
      @WRXGarage  4 года назад

      Yes!!!! For the rears and fronts, don't touch the two locked collars underneath the spring! That's the preload.

  • @speed2k5
    @speed2k5 2 года назад

    I reached out to FA, and they said we don’t need to drop the lca to adjust the rear (works the same as the front). I wonder if it is because of the version you have on this video. I have Gen 7.

    • @WRXGarage
      @WRXGarage  2 года назад

      Yeah, I've done some more research on this. When you adjust the rear height, you do hear the adjustment dial on the inside clicking, but the point at the top is fixed inside the tube so you just have to reset the stiffness afterwards.
