Heath - thank you for the straight scoop, as always. IF people can convince you that you have a problem and they just happen to have the solution for you, they are likely a salesman. LOL. Perceived problems has been a longtime sales approach. Keep on keeping on.
Yes Sensei. I do believe it's personal preference. Recently started the slow pitch. Trying to blow it up here in Trinidad. Thanks for your point of view. Tell big guy I said what's up. Tight lines.
I’ve been trying the swivel lately and next time I’m going back to the solid ring. I felt like I had a lot more hookup with a solid ring. With a shorter leader as well
I think your right as far as dropping and retrieving your jig but a swivel may help when you're reeling up a fish from deep water that's spinning on the way up???. just a thought.
I've done a few studies on this... the only thing that really makes a difference is using a ball bearing swivel... which is a chunkier piece of hardware and thus decreases your hook up ratio.. in my opinion the swivels only purpose is to add a little protection from being cutoff by a king or a wahoo
Hi Heath, Great demonstration. In my experience, barrel swivels don't do much to prevent line twist. The ball bearing swivels are a little better. Thanks for the demo and explanation. You're a wealth of information. Say "Hi" to Avi, Bijoux and Bella and have fun on the water.
Hi Mickey... using the swivel doesn't really make a difference. Just wanted to open up the discussion platform. I do get asked about this quite often. The kids say HI. Hope every is good in Palm Bay. Talk to you soon
Hi Heath, It's the details that can make a difference. Glad you made the explanation and as far as slow pitch fishing, you had a good reason to use the solid ring. Hope you're getting settled into your new house. Take care and have fun, Mickey
You're gonna get line twist regardless... however, like I pointed out... on the assent the twist will naturally undo itself due to the forces of physics and the natural pull against the jig and reel from current.
Curious Heath Did you try to retrieve the jig from that toothy shark? 20 bucks for a loss hand? Or do you have an inventive contraption you made to reach down there for jig removal? Another video perhaps? Thanks for the intel.
Ha... son the shark was worn out... so I flipped him on his back to put him in a trance called tonic immobility, and used pliers to cut the hooks out of his mouth and pectoral fin.
Studio ocean mark makes a pear shaped SMALL solid ring with amazing specs on lb test (300, 400 & higher pound test) very stealthy. Not ridiculously expensive either.
hey bud.. watching from the islands of Philippines.. by any Chance do you have a Facebook Account or Page? your content is very helpful . thank you for this.. Tight lines and Fish on!!

Pretty obvious now. I just never thought about the spin with both. Thank you

@@SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing ever try wire when targeting kings? maybe speed jigging?

Hi, Teacher!!! Good Video!!!
Thanks a million. Great to hear from u ;)
What about a ball bearing swivel compared to a non-Ball bearing swivel?

Agreed..👍👍

@@SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing I think I would attach two foot extensions on those handles. Ten fingers is a good thing. Keep them coming Heath
Thanks great info I finally got my set up what 30lb brand u think is best
Honestly, I'd bring it to a tackle shop and let them do it. If they put on 900 yds or so, it's more of a deal.
thanks
hi from kuwait agine 😁😁😁😁😁
What do you think of angler clips for slow pitch? Can they be used?
Never tried them... but there are no set rules when it comes to fishing... personally I'm a solid ring kinda angler. Thanks for watching ;)
@@SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing thanks for the reply. Please keep putting out this great content.
I’m under the impression that using a barrel swivel helps with spinning fish as you are pulling them up.
You will never get enough twists per inch for line twist to ever matter with braid especially fishing that deep
You get tip wrapped more often after you get enough twists - happens when you bring up cod etc and they spin all the way to the surface
Interesting thanks Ricky 💃🕺🏼🎶🐈⬛🎸🌙
Hmm i use a pear shape solid ring no line twist so far🤔
Perfect

CONSCLUSION : barrel swivel got more % in protection from king fish teeth because more CM lol
But there is a lot of line on top of that jig. It will not unwind because of the starch of the line
SPJ you only use about 10 to 15 foot leader. Never had a line twist problem. Thanks for watching ;)
Yo
Yo back atcha ;)
