Thank you so much for this video! Im a prime example of how your life can change in an instant. I went into the ER thinking I was having a gallbladder attack. I passed out and woke up a week later being told I had a massive stroke. I have been disabled ever since. Intellectually I am very good as well as my memory being intact. Physically is another story. My left side is extremely weak and so I primarily use a wheelchair to get around as I have fallen enough times to know that it is just safer for me to wheel around. I have wondered about getting out on the road as a disabled person so your video is inspiring. I want to follow your channels to continue to get information that may be of assistance. RV manufacturers have not made any kind of accommodation for disabled persons and it's very disheartening. Unless you have a large class a bus that has a wheelchair lift the only other real option is to buy a toy hauler as most of those have a rear ramp that is used to bring equipment in like golf carts, four wheelers or motorcycles. It will also work as a wheelchair ramp but I'm not in a position to have a vehicle I can tow. I need to have a self-contained unit and would love to get a small Class C motorhome but no one has made any kind of ramp function available. I'm sure that there's someone out there who would be able to create something that could be used but in the interim I will follow your videos on your channel and watch how you provide guidance and share your adventures with us.
Thanks Rosemary for your comment. Your best best is to look for a used van with a lift already on it or a small bus that is easy for you to drive. wao you guys are amazing. To have the courage to do van life. I'm glad you found each other and are able to live your life the way you want to. Continue with Good health and happiness
In 2009, my wife and I found our selves in a life changing situation as well. My Wonderful Wife, now a C-7 incomplete from her injury, with 10 months in the medical system prior to coming home. We had fantastic Rehab!!!! To continue our LIFE and to be able to still do 90% of everything we used to do together prior to injury, we built a 4x4 off road van, and we use it for it's intended use and then some!!!! Being permanently physically disabled does mean life ends. Ya just have to figure it out. For us, our only limitation is our imagination and i have to add that you figure out what doesn't work quickly. Thanks to the good Lord who has always been our co-pilot!!!, we've been blessed. As her husband and care provider, I really have to say we are each others care providers in every way.. 50 years together and still doing it. God bless you and safe travels!!!!!!!!! Break as many barriers as you can.
Good on you for going out and doing the van life with your disability, I have bad arthritis and cerebyl palsy in my legs and need to use a walker to walk. I was going to do the van thing with my partner but he left me, but anyway enjoy life in your van
@Jenny you can still do it, just have to take things slower but it's doable. I have several neurological issues and even issues with passing out and I also take trips alone in the van. It is important to keep a home base so trips can be taken and you can still go home if needed to recuperate. ~Tanya
Love this. Ur both bold. I've been obsessed with van life. I'm hesitant because my ms is so sensitive to temperature. I'm not sure it's possible to keep a van 60-75 all the time.
@Marti Sleister Derec doesn't sweat at all do to his spinal cord injury so temp control is extremely important to us. You will need an AC so therefore will need to have a way to carry a generator or follow the weather. Also fans will be important inside but it is doable. Here is a video we made that may help you. It is how we did it, before getting the "mancave" trailer. ruclips.net/video/RdCqVhgynBc/видео.html

❤ I driven a car with hand controls. Cause I'm handicapped myself with trouble pulse. I do walk around so I don't use a chair full-time because my legs do work. But my hands can move quicker than my feet. So I use hand controls on a vehicle. I don't know longer drive. And I was married to a woman in a wheelchair from 2002 to 2011. But to this day we still see each other is A. His man been divorced to her and I still spend a lot of time together. And I'm just trying to tells the story in 2 parts.

A wheelchair accessible bus would have been easier. Even if it was a short bus. My husband uses an electric scooter. He's an amputee. That tiny bit of space would frustrate the heck out of him.
Yes that would work great if the van wasn't also our primary mode of transportation. Maybe down the rode we will consider that build. This van parks in a normal parking space & is very agile. With this van, I can also travel alone and am comfortable driving in the city & parking. Plus it is very stealthy. ~Tanya
Thanks for sharing 👍. My wife and l are wanting to do some kind of off road type camper or van? I get a little worse every year, and now l use a wheelchair and am in a hospital bed for many hours in a day. It all looks good 👍, but there must be times??? Thanks. 👍✌🏻 🙋♂️ 🌧 🇨🇦 👨🦽 😎.
You probably already know about a fellow You Tuber Jeffy Bear. If you haven't, check him out. Because of his type one diabetes, he has had both of his legs amputated above the knees. This has definitely put an end to his van life. Please check him out and send him some of your love and positivity!
Please make sure the propane is SHUT off at the valve and vented properly. Please use a carbon monoxide detector near the floor. It's very nasty to be poisoned by it (had it).
We do have a vent going outside underneath the sink and also have vents in both front windows. We also have a carbon monoxide and fire detector in the van. Yes safety is very important!
I am not a veteran but I do have a wheelchair accessible van. I just wanted to start vanlife but lately been losing hope. I really can't get anyone to help me build out the van. I even can pay a little. I am not wheelchair bound but I will be according to my doctors. I am so loosing hope. I feel like I am going to just fade away. sad
I've been trying since the beginning of the pandemic to find something and can't still and I could afford the payment just don't have credit without a cosign

~Tanya
Loved this video! This couple is living their best life!
Great, love it 😍♥️♥️♥️
Thanks Rahma!
Sure hope you connect with Jeffie Bear in Canada. He just started being in wheel chair full time. Checking his videos on RUclips. He needs inspiration
Yes we have tried :)
Wow just seen ur video u r an inspiration to everyone I love that ty for the tour of ur van and safe travels God bless u both I loved it
Thanks so much Debra!
Fantastic guys ! Living your best life…. Great video 😘

You are a generously uplifting and very inspiring couple. That man cave is way cool. Ha! Your genius service dog heard & understood @12:58. 😉🎓Sorry, I missed your other dog....until, I watched again. Seems her/his (?) color blended in with the sand....or, maybe I need more coffee. 😆
Thank you so much K Fogarty! Yes there is also Bella, she is 17 years old but still a trooper doing van life...lol

Thanks son!
Their predicaments served them well ☮️
Blessings in disguise
Keep the channel fun and light, isn’t that the point of what you’re doing what you want others to enjoy too?
It always will be since we are goofballs especially on our live streams ...but we also do need to cover some more serious issues at times. There will be a balance :)
And I'm just trying to tells the story in 2 parts.
fantastic! id love to see how the shower works
If you subscribe to our channel, we have a video coming out about this soon! ruclips.net/channel/UCOdYrMT3LOGEqz4QTZYoAWg Also this tour video covers it briefly: ruclips.net/video/eF4HQkJ0SDg/видео.html Thanks for watching :)
~Tanya
@@VanLifeVoyages Where I live, you'd get tickets for it being too tall. Under 6 feet. Lol.
It can be tough at times but being outside makes it all worth it to us.
Loved this💗💗💗💗💗💗
Thank you! Consider subscribing to our RUclips channel and follow our journey ruclips.net/channel/UCOdYrMT3LOGEqz4QTZYoAWg
Amazing
What about a Murphy bed for room and reaching storage
That is also an idea but would then limit upper storage. It's a toss up.
we were thinking on doing the full time rv, but couple years ago I lost both my legs above the knees and now not sure if we can do it...
You probably already know about a fellow You Tuber Jeffy Bear. If you haven't, check him out. Because of his type one diabetes, he has had both of his legs amputated above the knees. This has definitely put an end to his van life. Please check him out and send him some of your love and positivity!
You two are beautiful!
Thanks so much ❤
Betty White is beautiful!
🥰
Please make sure the propane is SHUT off at the valve and vented properly.
Please use a carbon monoxide detector near the floor. It's very nasty to be poisoned by it (had it).
We do have a vent going outside underneath the sink and also have vents in both front windows. We also have a carbon monoxide and fire detector in the van. Yes safety is very important!
🌞You Guys are Very Inspiring 👍 Thank You for Sharing your Light🦋
Thanks Shaunalove, please consider following along on our channel :) ruclips.net/channel/UCOdYrMT3LOGEqz4QTZYoAWg
Pay bills on time. It's easy.
@@windsofmarchjourneyperrytr2823 never missed a one....
Try being on disability on a fixed income and get credit...
That is beautiful!!!
