  • How to use Autotune (GarageBand Tutorial)
    There is one word in music production that is guaranteed to set forums, threads and comment sections ablaze… Autotune.
    Love it or loathe it, Autotune (or pitch correction) is now a staple of modern music production, a tool just like Compression or Reverb.
    In GarageBand for Mac, adding pitch correction to your vocal tracks is a straightforward process - with a couple of provisos...
    Here’s how it works.

    Great video!
    When I was playing around with the intensity of the pitch correction on a track (backing vocal) while the song was playing, other unelected tracks (guitar and lead vocal) started distorting at the same region! And no matter what I did I could not get the distorted sound go away. Is this a bug or did I do something wrong? :(

  • @gin40

    Is there a way you can use auto tune on specific notes? Just afraid of it being too easy to pick up by the listener. Sounding fake and mechanical.

    • @TheGaragebandGuide
      @TheGaragebandGuide  3 года назад +1

      Not really, unless you cut out specific words and paste them onto a new track and only apply auto tune to that track. Bit of a pain, but it would work.

    Do you have a more in depth video about the key signatures and the c tonic notes. I just don’t see anything happening or understand fully what you are actually looking at or doing. I would love to see a step by step for dummies, because you rock just want to emphasize that but for beginners with no understanding of music theory alittle bit of this is alien language, so physically showing what you are doing with highlighting and showing what you are clicking and explaining that would help connect the dots for alot of us dummies that understand how to use garage band and to follow but when you say something and show nothing about what your doing or explaining doesn’t help. You show visuals and things happening but it doesn’t make sense enough for someone that doesn’t get it.

    I believe there are 2 minor scales (can't remember their names). Which minor scale does GB use? Sometimes you have to find a relative scale to get the right note. I had a song in E minor but used a G major scale instead. If a song uses E minor7 you might want to use a D major scale. Just my own theory. Don't know if I'm accurate on this....

    Is there a way to change keys in a project? I hate that aspect of garage band honestly- I almost NEVER stay in the same key throughout a whole piece of music, and almost always also alter the tempo at least once. So I end up ignoring and/or not able to use many of these features as a result.
    :-(

    • @TheGaragebandGuide
      @TheGaragebandGuide  3 года назад

      You can alter the tempo but not the key unfortunately.

    • @nigelcarren
      @nigelcarren 3 года назад

      Hello Rob. How about recording each element in a particular key as a different project. Polish each separately then join both at the end as a separate project.. would that work?
      Sounds like a rigmarole though.
      So in reality I would probably use AutoTune on the part I struggled with then wing the rest by ear... Just to keep it human.
      Have fun 👍🌞
