- From La Honda Records & Two Bridges Film comes the first in a new series called Western AF Presents. Highlighting new documentaries that feature music, culture, and art that focus on “Staying Western in Your Own Way."
Featured in this beautiful film is country music's best kept secret and La Honda recording artist, Riddy Arman. She released her debut album in 2021 and filmmaker Keenan O'Reilly captured the essence of Riddy's raw humanity shortly after the record's release. Filmed in the beautiful Montana landscape that Riddy calls home, the documentary follows her experience writing and releasing the record but also the land that inspired many of the songs she wrote.
The film positions Riddy at the beginning of her career as a songwriter and offers viewers a glimpse into her personality, creating a stage from the emotional impact of her grounded yet eloquent writing. As a voice already compared to country legends like Johnny Cash and Neko Case, this a portrait of a young artist at the beginning of her career.
Riddy stands as a testament to what we love about the underground music scene. It's truly an honor to see someone at the beginning of their career blossom into a respected and loved recording artist.

Riddy Arman is a soul singer. Her writing is unrefined, her performance is sometimes rough, but she's speaking to the spirits of men and women.
she's amazing.. wish her producer kept it more acoustic on the album tho.. I get it... need radio play.. but her soul shines through her guitar and voice

Riddy is a fantastic musician, I found out that she grew up in the town right next to mine, it's consistently inspiring to me to see talented people succeeding and leaving the rust belt.

I've been a big Riddy fan since the first time she gutted me with WAF's video of "Spirits, Angels or Lies". It is a hard act to follow a raw-ish emotional sound like that with an album. Much heavier on instrumentals, the cadence of the songs changing, etc. Riddy has a sound people want to hear and lyrics many need to hear. Best wishes with the pregnancy Riddy, can't wait to see you back on tour and look forward to the next album.

She reminds me of Gillian Welch. I loved her song about Johnny Cash such a beautifully written song.
I fully agree with that in the sense that her delivery is very appropriate to the emotion of the subject, Her Melodies are even and the use of space allows me to swallow and breathe them in. The ruggedness and strength she carries has got to be very empowering for women young and old. Much in the way Gillian Welch is a mainstay in roots music I believe Riddy could be capable of a similar body of work. The songs live deep inside the human condition, raw, honest material that is tangible and will heal lonesome men and women alike. It’s very rare that literal songwriting can paint with such a feeling of vivid imagery with broad strokes that stick with you. I feel like I just watched a Sergio Leone film after listening to Riddy’s album.
Well done, friends! Riddy has such a mezmerizing voice that I could listen to over and over all day long
