    People that are saying low budget probably never seen a different art style before.
    This happens a lot in anime, they sacrifice the quality so they give themselves more freedom to do a lot of cool scenes without making it look bland, especially in fighting scenes.
    This is a good thing, and if this is what they're aiming for, then I'm all for it.

    In Japan, the want for a Gens remaster was high because nobody wanted to own an Xbox just to play the game in Japan (not a very well liked system across the pond.) and that was the only way to get it other than the awful PC Port. Also, Sonic Team didn't develop a Sonic JRPG, Bioware did. He's not gaslighting. He is being honest.

      Yeah why do people like him always just think their group of the fanbase are the only people that matter or the only ones Sega/Sonic Team look at lmao. People saying Izuka is "lying" or "gaslighting" about that is just very ignorant. If he's saying there was a demand for it, there's a demand for it he's not making this up when he could easily just say "we wanted to remaster Gens to help new people coming into the franchise" if it actually weren't the case.

    14:40 Now to be fair to IIzuka. I also heard people say, "Why are they doing Colors and not Generations?!" It was not that they people was asking for Generations, rather they was just confused why they choosed Colors over Generations. Id always gave the response, that colors is the most vanilla Sonic experience of the games without an additional character gimick besides the wisp which are power ups. And as to why they didn't do Unleashed, You gotta think that this game stared pre production in 2021, and Unleashes reception was mixed and not concrete. They couldn't waste money back then on gambles as they can now. Cause they couldn't guarantee Sonic movie 2 and Frontiers would be successful.

  • @ThisisTheUltimate
    @ThisisTheUltimate 18 дней назад +5

    21:33 Yeah, and that "3D" is an open zone space... An "Open Zone" is a perfect name to say what it is, it is not an Open World, because it is not a whole world connected in a single map for you to explore, but it is a big yet relatively small area which does not represent the whole game open for you to go whetever you want
    Also, just a reminder: Back in Sonic Superstars, Trip also wasn't marketed as playable (nor that she would remove her mask) and it was a huge surprise when she was playable after beating the story mode, so not marketing another playable character doesn't mean there isn't a chance to be one, after all, this character could be one of the characters already revealed and being marketed, just not revealed to be playable yet, much like Trip
    I think it would be pretty confusing to be a skin like Terios, not only those were already revealed so there's no need to place "Coming Soon" but those are just skins with no relevance, why would they take a whole slot? and if that was the case, why doesn't Dreamcast and Saturn Sonic have their own slots aswell?
    I'm not saying it is a 4th playable character, it could be just Black Doom, but it's weird that not Eggman nor even Time Eater were in Sonic's section yet Black Doom would be in Shadow's side, and it was a big surprise seeing Trip playable, especially for me which was SURE there would be no 5th playable character in Sonic Superstars

  • @LittleLexi24
    @LittleLexi24 18 дней назад +6

    27:47 But the Sonic Adventure skin isn’t listed as a separate character. Why would they keep it a secret if it’s Terios? At the moment I’m assuming it’s gonna be a new Shadow form, but since time travel is involved it could still be Emerl.

Not talking about you, Sam, your chat was just going off the perc saying Sonic was better at Chaos Control since he used a fake emerald, when in reality, he's still worse because Shadow just DOES it.

      @justcallmekai1554 18 дней назад +7

      Yeah I never got that. It's like yeah Sonic did use CC with a fake but what's stopping Shadow now? That only works if you ignore the 23 years of games after Sa2. Shadows has a variety of abilities based on CC like the Chaos Magic moves in Battle, Chaos Blast in STH, or Chaos Boost and Lance in 06 etc its like he gets better at it which goes along with his arc of finding himself.
      Hell our conception of CC is entirely based around Shadows moves when the idea could easily be expanded to be unique to each character capable of it lol.

      Thaaaank youuu ive been trying to let people know about the Chaos Drives for literal years man.
      These little SA2 items arent just negligible Chao Garden upgrades like most of this fanbase thinks. They’re literally heavily lore based and are THE literal foundation of Project Shadow and how every tech functions. This is how Shadow and the Biolizard function and how they can use Chaos Control so naturally. This needs to be understood within the fan base.
      I swear its like going into a DBZ community and not a single person knowing how “ki” functions with how Chaos Control works in Sonic. Tikal’s emerald chant needs to be added to the school curriculum lmao

    Story wise, I think the Shadow in “Sonic Generations” is from the past. Maybe SA2 or Heroes Shadow being taken out of the timeline (I would also apply this to Silver but he’s a little more complex)
    This would make the Shadow we’ll be playing as in “Shadow Generations” the present day shadow getting sent back through time. Think Marty McFly from BTTF2 arriving at the scene seconds after BTTF1 Marty getting sent back to 1985. There’s probably a couple of holes in this theory but it’s the best way I can explain it.
    Also I think he means Sonic can’t use Chaos control naturally (without an emerald in hand) as well as gameplay wise

    I don't know about having a whole 3D act and a whole 2D act per level... doesn't seem to be the case, in the SGF trailer we had a footage from Space Colony ARK from a location we haven't seen anywhere in the level from all the footage recorded going in almost every single location of the stage, could be the other act, and if that's the case, then it doesn't look to be 2D, maybe Iizuka got confused there
    Also, if there was a whole 2D and 3D act per level... would Shadow Generations do the opposite way of base Generations? Because what we saw in the SGF demo, the level with the footage is Act 1, and it is entirely 3D

  • @CaptainF123
    @CaptainF123 18 дней назад +3

    32:50 I'd honestly prefer if the Act 2's were mixtures of 2D and 3D because fully 2D boost levels are lame. Also, I'm pretty sure this is likely to be the case because people datamined the Summer Games Fest trailer and they were showcasing Rail Canyon ACT 2 so either the act structure changes per zone or their mixtures.
    Furthermore, it makes more sense especially in the context of Shadow Generations. This is because in Sonic Generations we had Classic Sonic who had fully 2D act's to harken back to the Genesis days whereas Modern Sonic represented the Boost Era which always had mixtures of 2D and 3D. In Shadow Gens the Act 1's harken back to the Adventure games where the levels were fully 3D (as seen with Space Colony Ark Act 1), and the Act 2's will probably be a mixture of 2D and 3D to represent the typical Boost level design.

    • @chrange9714
      @chrange9714 18 дней назад +3

      Fully 2D boost levels aren't lame at all, they made three whole games about 2D boost levels that were great. Four if you count Sonic Gens on the 3DS but regardless there aren't going to be fully 2D levels in Shadow Gens. Some interview outlets keep misinterpreting what he's saying, Izuka never said there's going to be one 3D Act and one 2D one for Shadow. There will be 2D sections mixed in with 3D like we saw in Kingdom Valley, but no stage will be just all that. Like you said this was already proven not to be the case with the trailer calling the Rail Station level Act 2. There was a distinction in gameplay and level design from Classic Sonic and Modern Sonic so what he means is that for Shadow, maybe Act 1 focuses more on Chaos Control while Act 2 focuses more on using your Doom Powers.

    I was under the impression that this Evan was Mardic...
    Btw I've been watching pieces here and there. lol
    YEAH HIS SKATING ANIMATION IS TRASH.
    SA2 skating animation is goated. Every one after that is garbage. It's not just a style thing. He looks like a ballerina. Why is he moving and posing like that???? lmao It could be worse.... could be Sonic Prime's Shadow skating animation.
    I'm SHOCKED anyone can say it looks good. He looks SOOOO goofy. It might be a cope thing. People have seen it so long, they're used to it.
    That said, this is how it is in the games so I don't blame these animators. The animation OF how he skates is really good, I just don't like the way he skates.
    The overall animation doesn't feel low budget to me at all. The movements, the art of the environment, the camera angles. You can compare key frames but the problem is that key frames in 2D animation are hand drawn, so they're inherently going to look a certain way and be important for the in-betweens to travel to and from. While in 3D, the model is the same aside from some contortion from certain angles. That said, they look pretty good when you pause just about anywhere in the animation.
    Even if you aren't saying it looks low budget and are just delivering the message, they're just expressing that they disagree with that message.
    And the point "It's good cuz it'll be longer" translates too "It's good because we're sacrificing quality for quantity". It's true that GOOD animation is sometimes hindered by prettier animation that moves less. But then the argument wouldn't be that the animation is longer, but that the art is sacrificed for the sake of god-tier animation. In this case, the art and animation both look great so I still disagree. Slow-framing on an impact is a conscious decision unrelated to budget.
    But whatever. Looks cool and we're getting a lot of content.

    it IS lower budget as you can see they are heavily relying on 3d models. almost entirely relying on them for backgrounds (therefore cutting the background budget to a fraction) and also using 3d models for keyframes. and by keyframes, I mean they are clearly using a 3d model for the storyboards and keys which is then drawn over while changing very little - this is particularly clear in the shot where shadow stands up looking out the window at the explosion. note how stiff his ears are and how frame perfect the 3d appearance of him is - this was traced from a 3d model. using 3d models in the keyframing stage minimizes production time and costs because it takes far less time to conceptualize and frame shots and produce keys for the 2d animators to finalize. these methods can be called a stylistic choice, but they are a choice borne from budget constraints none the less. this is not to say it looks bad, but as an experienced 2d animator you can spot the budget saving methods a mile away
