I think this is your best episode yet! So fascinating having your guest explain all the details of his exotic treasures, with such passion, love and humility. Thank you for sharing this beautiful home. Will be watching it over and over.
Truly a citizen of the world. A home that tells his story and that of his family so wonderfully. Beautiful textiles, a beautiful man with a beautiful mind. I am an Indian and I could totally get what he is trying to express.
The word “ love” is so over- used but everything about Peter and his passion and style and warmth is truly lovely. I could listen to him speak for days! This tour was such a delight and inspiration. I really love the patterns and art, all the colour and texture and the underlying sense of history and celebration of human creativity and craftsmanship. Amazing!
Peter D'Ascoli has such a beautiful way to elaborate his description for a thirst for knowledge, experience, culture and enjoying the feast of all of it. The enhancement of moments of discovery and the history applicable are like tasting a new recipe filling your tastebuds with jolts of wildly deliciousness.
Many thanks for this tour. I have a new appreciation for the complexities of Indian art, rich mixtures of decor and personal history... all of the many layers in this incredible home. Fourteen years ago I lost all of my personal possessions, save a handful of items. Today I feel the loss of family history even more greatly than before.
Peter's life, path, choices, proclivities - beautifully rich, gentle, fine. His family stead reflects these quality enthusiasms. What a handsome property.
East Indians are our world's very first maximalists centuries ago and do it well because of it. When I saw the thumbnail I knew it would be good content. Thanks!!
Amazing!!! Love the international mind mixed with the academic personality and artistic love of textiles and all things design!!! This is truly a very special treat!! I too am a Long Island, NY native. .. with Manhattan career roots. Also, an artist! I loved this in too many ways to list! Keep up the great work, Homeworthy! You are sooooo Worthy!! Fantastic!!
This home tour is one of my favourites. A modern Rudyard Kipling, whose story telling is in textiles and artefacts woven with the rich tapestry of his travels and family. I feel like I was a tourist on an exotic holiday.
Love this mans life philosophy about home and life. Much more thoughtful than the majority of design focused videos. Also enjoyed hearing about the design history of the different cultures he has traveled to.
“…to not be curious, to not be open to things outside your world…” just says it all. I first came to Greece as a backpacker, traveling alone through Europe for a summer. Then two years later packed up and moved to Greece. That was 1982 and I am still living in Greece. I find it depressing that so many Americans travel as tourists yet seldom as ‘travelers’ or rarely settle in other countries. It is an education unto itself. I’m 73 this year and have never regretted the choices I made in my early thirties. Thank you so much for allowing us into Peter’s marvellous house and especially giving us Peter as our guide. So joyful to listen to him. 👏👏👏🥰🥰🥰. So hard to believe this oasis is in Delhi!
Peter's engagement with India & Indians is truly remarkable. The Festival of India was a superb cultural initiative , wish it had continued . So many Indian craftsmen would have carried on their ancestral arts. Lal Kothi is beautiful as are the owners. I'm a Delhiite, can't believe that's South Delhi!
"lump in throat" viewing for so many reasons: the warmth of you sharing your story, combining so many beautiful objects of love in your home, the benchmark of romantic love in a marriage. Be still my heart!
Maybe a Homeworthy drinking game is in order. Everytime someone says "maximalist" you drink. If someone says, "I love textiles," it's a group shot. If there's a garden with lavender, it's a double shot of lavender infused liquor.
Absolutely delightful episode! I love it when someone can speak so beautifully about their home, influences, and how they experience their surroundings!
Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful home. I am mesmerised and transported to a Shangri-La (it's like stepping into the world of M M Kaye, the author of "The Far Pavilions", an epic novel, set in India and published in 1978). Mr D'Ascoli is, without a doubt, a charming host whose erudition and passion are both dazzling and infectious. His demonstration of how the cultural artefacts of the east and the west can mix and match is exemplary. Above all, he is an arbiter of eclectic style and taste and a gifted raconteur. I could listen to him all day long. Thank you so much for giving almost an hour long for this tour. It is the BEST - most instructional, refined and cultured video on this channel. I will be coming back to this video every time I feel the need a cure for my winter blues.
This was just so stunning! So much of this reminded me of other countries with ancient indigenous folk art and textile traditions, such as Mexico or Peru in the Americas. These ancient ethnic cultures around the world share such a fabulous patrimony of authentic ancient indigenous art. ❤❤
I remember the 26th Street parking lot flea market well. It was the place to go on Sundays. Some scenes in the movie 9-1/2 weeks were filmed there. Now, sadly, there's a high rise on the site. This is a wonderful video and so enjoyable. India is the most colourful place I have ever visited.
I remember that flea market on 26th street also and know all the Manhattan places he mentioned. Me? Still in my walkup studio in Hell's Kitchen, however, can and do incorporate the fabrics and textiles mentioned by Peter. I have a small studio with 12 foot ceilings so I hang the fabrics on the walls as I would wallpaper.
@@BetsyMagee-f4z I live on Columbus Ave right where it changes to 9th Ave (and becomes Hell's Kitchen). Small world! Did you notice Peter mentioned Gracious Homes? Another place that has disappeared. Your textile hangings sound great.
I cant explain the sadness of loss of these places and things that once were, now replaced by concrete...paved paradise Im so glad I lived in a time to remember it all
This was delightful! Listening to his love and appreciation for India and respect for the culture, along with expressing his passion for art, textiles, and history, was refreshing! I enjoyed this home and tour very much. Interestingly, he mentioned that there were 30 varieties of mango? It is believed that the number is closer to 500, with at least 350 commercially grown.
It was an amazing tour! So interesting to hear about textiles and the cultural differences regarding sit-down-dinners. It was fascinating! Imagine finding peacock feathers in ones back yard:-) 🧚✨💫
THIS is truly a masterpiece of an episode. What a sincere and well spoken man. He has created such beautiful textiles and the maximalist decor tells so many stories! Regardless of your personal style this is a must watch episode.
Remarkable content Allison! I love this home and all of their offerings of textiles and linens. Having been to India and importing home furnishings for my own clients here in New York, I was astonished to see this lovely home and this spectacular video! Thank you, thank you thank you!
This is the first of the channels videos that really feels meaningful, and the first designer who feels entirely relatable to me personally. I couldn't agree more with his thoughts about culture, travels and sense of home being internal, and his curiosity about the world and the history of humanity and artistry. A wonderful, full video, of stories, of artistry in many forms, of personal growth and deep interests in the context of design. Thank you for sharing your life journey as a designer, American, European, human, family man and adventurous creative.
I follow you on Instagram and I was so happy to see your home in India. Your fabrics are beautiful and I especially love the linen tablecloth in the mango garden. What a charming place to have lunch. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home.
The best Homeworthy ever. A beautiful home and a fascinating and incredibly erudite presenter. Thank you for sharing your knowledge in such a gentle peacefule way
This is now my favourite Homeworthy tour.. it was absolutely fascinating, I didn't want it to finish! So heartwarming and such a pleasure to see this tour, thank you! 💛
I love this beautiful, interesting house with its tiles & artworks & the designer’s own fabrics - all so interesting & lovely. But I really really loved this man’s enthusiasm & knowledge & love of India & textiles; & when he said, about his marriage & family, “happily ever after & all that” ( minute 27:35 in video) with that wonderful smile I was simply delighted! Such genuine love shining through was wonderful!
Magnificent! I adore the prints from D’Ascoli and Peter’s home reflects the company and his passion for textile, ornamentation and world cultural weaving/painting skills! ❤
I know nothing of this man, but he has a very unique & all encompassing understanding of life!! He is extremely rare!! What a beautiful life he has lived & continues to live & enjoy with his family!! I’m sure he never in his wildest dreams imagined what & where life would lead him to!! And to live such an extraordinary life amongst the beauty of India’s textiles, culture, & history!! Bravo for making & sharing this video! It’s the masterpiece video of this channel!!!!!
What a beautiful and warm home! And what a beautiful and warm human being! Thank you for sharing it with us and sharing your personal and educated thoughts on how you place each item in your home. ❤
LOVE, love, love this home!! Absolutely stunning home and my favourite tour by far. Fascinating details and Peter was so generous with his knowledge. What a beautiful love story.I will be watching this many times, breath taking and extremely inspiring. Thank you so much Peter for sharing your truly special home with us, your home is an absolute joy to feast your eyes on ♥♥♥
Hats off to this gentleman regarding his passion n love for design n textile .He has profound knowledge about art n artifect.Truely his home speaks about his taste of designing n decorating the home.Pleasure to listen such a humble n knowledgable person😊😊😊😊
Of course, Monjiordino and Madeleine Castaing, wow can see it in his design and fabrics. Peter shares his talents and knowledge in such a pleasant way.
I absolutely loved Peter and his home. The way he talked about India with so much love, pride, fondness, respect and warmth made me a fan of his. I don’t find Indians so knowledgeable and curious enough for their country.
All I see make me want to be there, mangos complete my joy, being from Latin America growing up mangos and avocados where free and grateful appreciated. Excellent home and homeowner.
This was just wow! Peter has integrated so well into the Indian culture while maintaining his individuality. So glad that Homeworthy is covering a house in my country. It is culturally rich with magnificent architecture, textiles, handicrafts and food and has a warmth that makes you never want to leave.
What a lovely and knowledgeable man in their beautiful home. So different and interesting. I love that he keeps things even if they are imperfect, you can still appreciate pieces if they are “flawed”.
Wonderful home, - would not have guessed that it was moved into over the Covid years only. He explained so well the history behind the artefacts, fabrics; as well as own life story. Very interesting.
oh my goodness, homeworthy your videos this week have been on FIRE. absolutely looooooved the episode with Hillary from Tello and Rose but oh my goodness, this home in Delhi is insane!!!!!! in the best way. i was so touched listening to his story about meeting his wife and then the beautiful watercolors he made for her daughter to explain their love story. this home is so personal. absolutely incredidble. and what a fascinating host! i could listen to him talk for days. what a life he has lived!
I can dare to say this is the best episode that ive seen in Home Worthy. Kudos to HW for this great work of episode!!! I look forward to e-visiting his Bordeaux home soon in HomeWorthy !
Thanks for sharing your lovely home! The architecture is gorgeous and has perfect scale. I loved seeing your textiles and learning about them as well as your art work. Opulent is the feeling of your home as well as peace.
Love his, Peter D'Ascoli, zest for life and as a maximist it was so refreshing to see his beautiful home full of cherished items - travels, charm and sense of a zeal for life!

I am going to drink some whiskey while I’m watching this episode🤣🥃 CHEERS . Absolutely cool episode and very educational about the Indian culture.💚
