TAMIYA 1/16 KING TIGER TANK BUILD Part 11 | Airbrushing my Heng Long Tiger Rc Tank

- As im new to tanks and my 1/16 Tamiya German King Tiger is virtually ready to be primed I thought Id have a practice on my old Heng long Tiger tank with the airbrush as I havent used it for a while and airbrushing military equipment is a whole new ball game for me and the last thing i want to do is mess up my vintage Tamiya King Tiger Tank, so in this ill lay down some black and white surface primers to create some wear in the tones and give a good preshade for applying the sand, I now know my tank number for my Tamiya build so im now in the works of getting the correct colours and tank markings for that tank.

Thought it be best getting some practice on the heng long before tackling the Tamiya, never built a tank before but just wanted something nice to sit on the back of one of my semi Trucks 👌
I asked in the RCtanks forum if any RC tanks had neutral steer, this is part of one reply
"Pretty much all of them do except the early Tamiya versions that have the single motor and clutch system. Some of the control boards allow you to turn neutral turns off or leave them on by default (Clark, TCB, and others)."

Top job so far , I've got the Heng Long Tiger as well , just bought an air brush kit ..so this video has given me some good tips 👍
I'm currently building the Tamiya German King tiger which is currently at the paint stages and I'd never built a tank before.. Mainly Trucks and crawlers so having this old heng long was perfect to practice with and I'm glad the video was actually of help.. I'll be doing various projects with the Airbrush in the near future so they also may be of use to you.

I've been looking at loads of tanks and I must agree with you on the winter camo, they look very good and would look great on a winter diorama, I just thought this would be a perfect platform to get some practice in before I start the King tiger. 👍👍
@@scotty555babe You could use the electronics from the Heng long in your KT, and save a few bob.
@@Phronsias1 I'd actually thought that, when I pulled it apart and looked it would only need the wires cutting from the board and just add connectors for the receiver so I could have the rotation of the turret, barrel elevation and the drive I will have..
One question as I'm seeing it a lot on other rc king tigers..
Did they use a clutch system to disengage a track, turning corners via the use of one track as I don't see them working in opposite directions together 🤔
@@scotty555babe Turret rotation and barrel elevation can be done with HL parts, you dont need to cut wires,use as is,you will need to use J-B weld to fix the parts in place, older Timiya KT's have a clutch ,Ive got one, the gear mechanism looks like something out of a clock, works of art really,. as far as I know the MFU varies the voltage to each motor giving you steering,tracks working in opposite directions is called neutral steer in real tanks

Thanks, I was initially going to do the tiger in desert cammo as I love that look and I'm colour blind in green 🤣 but after researching I want to replicate an actual tank #233 so I thought it be best to have a practice on this heap first 😊
