Typically romantic music, but in the best sense of the word (if it has any bad sense at all). Typically Liszt. Both thumbs up to the composer and to the performer. The sound quality could be improved, but... thank you for sharing this beauty.
i thought hungarian rhapsoy no 2 and 6 were the only good ones until i started listening to all the others. definetely one of the most underrated rhapsodies
As they were only going to orchestrate six of these Rhapsodies I'm a bit disappointed that this one was chosen instead of any of the others. It's dramatic and melancholy but the exciting tuneful fast passages are not here.
@@TheModicaLiszt As I understand it was not Liszt but a contemporary of his (forgot the name) who did the orchestration. Brilliantly done, too - with such sufficiency as to bring me to tears!
Very intense and moving performance by Cziffra. His complete Hungarian Rhapsodies are in a class of their own.

Great Cziffra, thanks for the upload! Anybody notices that 2:19 seems like a quotation of Chopin's Funeral March?
i think so too...kkk it litte bit likes Beethoven's piano sonata 8.
It seems a bit like Beethoven's Pathetique sonata mvt 2, 2nd theme too
Obviously, yes.
@@leowstev exactly my thoughts!
Eric Leow Yu Quan, I’ve always related it to that theme as well!
Does the title mean "Elegiac-Heraldic" in French?
Essentially « a hero’s elegy » , as an interpretation rather than direct translation 🤷🏼♂️
Heroic, not heraldic
May I know which edition is this?
it's Peters
👏👏👏👍👍👍🌹🌹🌹🙏
1:02 James Horner, is that you?
Haha yes! Such a nerdy comment. Only true Horner fans know he puts that little chromatic turn in probably 90% of his soundtracks lol. GOAT comment.

Basil Brush - which one do you think should’ve been orchestrated instead... 11?
Heck, Liszt should have orchestrated all of them!

Santosificationable It was Liszt working with the flautist Franz Doppler. They were both working on it
They could've orchestrated 15 and trolled all the violinists with double glissando.
Pretty, but low with power compared to other rhapsodies.
Right
It’s a masterpiece
@@MUHAMMAD-xd4swI agree easily one of my top three HR pieces
