+Chris Short, who are you calling slag? Do you even run? If you watch the video (and know anything about running etiquette) you'll notice the rabbit (as they call it) cut to the outside of the track so as to let the other runners pass on the inside lanes. Ahmed Muhammed decided to pass on the right, way out in lane 3 or 4 (not a smart move on his part) and that is why he got tripped up and fell. He did that to himself... +Azda Botchman, if Ahmed was supposed to win the race why did he finish nearly 20 seconds back from the real champion, Michael, and in 14th place?!? It was rather blasé to say the least, even with a fall! A lackluster performance like that is hardly that of a champion, the "expected winner".
+G Seegrist the reason Ahmed got tripped in lane 2 was the pacer was gassed and clogging up lane 1 for a solid 20 meters+. The 2nd place guy and Ahmed both moved out to Lane 2 to get around him prob b/c they didn't want to run a 70 second 3rd lap sitting behind the pacer. The pacer didn't make room at all, he simply ran out the straightaway into lane 2, where he ultimately stopped, for reasons unknown. It surely was an accident but it's not even remotely debatable - he was 100% in the wrong.
Can you believe this is the only video on youtube that acually shows a highschooler breaking 4 on the mile :/ I wanna see the video's of when Grant Fisher and Drew Hunter broke 4
Both vids of Alan Webb's exist on youtube, the 3:59 at the armory and the 3:53 at the Pre Classic. Jim Ryun's first sub 4 does exist and a small amount of footage of it exists on youtube in a Jim Ryun documentary, as well as his 3:58 at Kansas State Championships and 3:55 against Snell.
X. Chen I'm pointing out that my cousin cannot moves his legs On conclusion You have no idea what it is like for a person that cannot move their legs and you don't know how it feels for someone you live with to have that...
It's amazing what has happened in running since the rest of the world started running flat footed/under pelvis and not heal striking/in front of pelvis. The times for HS kids started dropping like rocks the last 10 years or so after Born to run and a tsunami of other books unlocking the secrets of the Kenyans. This was unheard of in my era (1982), but it's exciting to see it happening today.
Total rubbish. NO ONE back in the 80s was taught to run heel strike, NO ONE. How would I know? I used to be on the 5000m Olympic trial team back in the late 80s. I'm not sure where you got your information from, but running technique has largely been dependent on the individual runner. The fall in times you see are largely attributed to better running surfaces and shoes, along with advancements in nutrition and sports science. It is NOT because people decided to run with a mid foot strike. Crawl back to your hole.
Here’s an EXCELLENT 2014 article in Runner’s World by Jonathan Beverly that is important reading for serious runners. www.runnersworld.com/advanced/a20847674/its-all-in-the-hips/
Wow great job! I'm reading a book about running. The author of this book ran a mile in 3:49. Didn't think it was possible but it is. I had to see it to believe it
What was the final time?? How much did he break 4 minutes by? Seems like he broke it with some time to spare. At least a bit. Two guys were not far behind, their times would have been good as well. Give some names and some times! Let these guys have a little time in sun! btw - impeding another runner, whether intentional or not, gets a runner DQ'd - standard rule #1 for those discussing the pacer who tripped a runner while stepping off to the right when he should have stepped off the track to the left as pacers do - for good reason.
Is it so complicated to just watch the video? You can clearly see that it was 3:59:41... so dumb commenting and ask for answers when the answer is IN the video....jeeez
Kevin Lopez I meant the GENES. You gotta have strong legs, long legs to run without injuring yourself. Just like Kenyans. It's in the blood. Polish American or Kenyan American
In case you forgot where he goes to school... Its Rocky Mountain. Those last two laps were killer.
Ansel Amanna they were. i was there
Imagine if your last place and u got 4:19
LOLRIP
The fuck is linkmon doing on a video about the mile o.o
adam oh wow yea tf
The race starts at 3:23. You're welcome peeps.
Dr Walsh okay boii
slag's teammate pacing straight up took a guy out at 800m. come on man...
I saw that
i hate how he doesn't run off the track just kinda runs across the lanes.. what was he thinking
+Chris Short yeah that was ahmed muhammed, he was the favorite of the race. he was expected to win but instead he got tripped by the pacer...

good to see mike wasowski running some fast miles
Amazing effort especially for a junior
My goal is a 6 min mile
I've come close a few times
But at 51 years old time is running out
😬😬🏃
You can do it :)
The power to in a 6 minute mile is within yourself. Just don’t stop working for it, no matter the cost.
Make sure to run 3-4 times a week, its not too hard! Do a long run, a fast track workout, and then a tempo run; you will surely get there!
Michael Slagowski. Rocky Mountain!!!
Can you believe this is the only video on youtube that acually shows a highschooler breaking 4 on the mile :/

Reed Brown from southlake carroll is online. He broke 4 min mile the day before he graduated
Incredible race...thanks for putting this video up
Running the mile. Splits are given in meters. Only in America! 🇺🇸
I might not be able to run a 4 min mile but I can run close to it for 200 meters or so. That is enough for most.
My best is a 4 minute kilometre
I am 7 years old, have no legs and PR is 0:50 min mile.
X. Chen h
X. Chen I'm pointing out that my cousin cannot moves his legs
On conclusion
You have no idea what it is like for a person that cannot move their legs and you don't know how it feels for someone you live with to have that...
X. Chen can't even believe that 17 bunch of idiots liked you're comment 🤣
Damn that spelling and grammar though. Didn't read.
*RoCkY MoUnTaIn*
Sick run tho I come back to every few months, a sub 4 no one anticipated
Better vid m.ruclips.net/video/6h-nO6p6L1Q/видео.html
Why on every page about running there is the I ran 1 min at 14 years old end the trend!
Hunter and this kid in a race together will slay. sub 3:55 for both I predict by the end of the season

Ah man that poor kid at 5:29 who got tripped up... ugh that sucks.
Thanks for noticing!
Looked like someone turned on ray-tracing on that track.
Thanks for the video!
yup
The way that guy claps at the end scares me
Wow great job! I'm reading a book about running. The author of this book ran a mile in 3:49. Didn't think it was possible but it is. I had to see it to believe it
mike slagowski
Great work, fellow countryman!
Bryan L. hes fast
1600 meters
at 7:24 his mile time was a 3:59:12
3:59:41
3 59.53

Robert Morrison 3:59!!

Wheres the money Slagowski
Enjoy the video👍
I remember when I went to Rocky Mountain and had all the track and field distance records…yea, it was a nice couple years…😅
1600m or mile? Slagowski's time was 3:59.54, but the mile is 1609.344 meters, which would give him a mile time of 4:00.94
Brendan Berney mile
Do you have seed time for the whole field?
no
they never gave the time!!
Freddy Jefferson 3:59!
is this an imperial track or did they move the tape 9.344 meters?
Any respectable track has the correct distance markings for the mile run.
this is my schools track and I can definitely say they started at least 9 meters back from where the finish line is. and we do have mile markings
thats bad ass.
impressive
Starts at 3:23
Only me that heard Fortnite the first time he said 4:19 at the start of the video...??
Yes.
Crazy!!
And to think it took me 1:40 to run 400 metres 😂
lol pick it up wtf
i can do that on Skate 3
I can do that on battlefield 1
Mario Barone cool
1600 meters or a mile? 1600 meters is short by 9 meters.
Mile.
that 9 meters makes all the difference
mon1tor it does when you are trying to break 4 in the mile. that's about 1.5 seconds difference. Huge margin when you are running that fast
mile
Karl Kunz there's a reason why they're starting about 10m back from the normal start line
my best mile is 5.33 btw im ten but the World Record for 10 year old is like 5.01
Fergus yeah right kiddo
Fergus lol
Thanks for showing us the time, NOT.
At 7:25 it says 3:59.41
Russians are good at running.
he is polish
thats a spicy meme
same shit.
he's not american?
Kevin Lopez
I meant the GENES. You gotta have strong legs, long legs to run without injuring yourself. Just like Kenyans. It's in the blood. Polish American or Kenyan American
But Drew Hunter? Whats in his genes that lets him run fast?
hunter will destroy him
they never gave the time!!
Freddy Jefferson 3:59
