one of the best movies ever made. i sound trite, but i really feel this way. I was completely lost in this incredible, beautiful world and didn't want to leave. that ending matte painting was the perfect finish. Unbelievable.
You put it perfectly "lost in this incredible, beautiful world". After seeing this film for the first time, I immediately googled Shadow Mountains because I wanted to believe that such world existed. And the Reagan speech, for real! Red was such a nice guy, he lived an honest, hard working and violence free life ( and ended up being a gang/fucked up cult victim ), but he wouldn´t put up with those evangelical speeches.
This movie was beautiful. It's been a long time since I've seen a unique horror film like this and I'm so please with Panos. He is a genius filmmaker and he has a very creative vision of films. Great job!
WHAT MAKES ALL FOUR OF THESE GENTLEMAN GREAT IS THERE WILLINGNESS TO EXPLORE AND TAKE RISKS. I RESPECT EVERY ONE OF THEM. THANK YOU FOR THIS AWSOME UPLOUD. PEACE.😊
I'm so glad to see people actually appreciating this film finally!! Love Panos Cosmatos!!! 💜 Such a treat to see this, instead of the usual commentary.
Saw this movie on Halloween. Bought it immediately after. So good. So perfect. I've loved film my whole life, and this is by far one of my favorite films.
Thanks for your love and support and also being one of my top fan I really appreciate you a lot 🤗❤ Write me on; ncage163@gmail.com Hope you’re keeping safe?
So glad to see this. Great questions asked by K. Smith, wonderful answers from all. I think I have to say that Linus Roache's performance was my favourite in this film and hearing his answers almost surprises me when comparing them to his performance; He really portrayed something outside of himself.
Thank you for posting this. Great questions from Kevin which is no surprise he's a filmmaker. Especially the question if the finished product was the same as the one in conception. Cage shares lots of personal stuff here its wonderful to compare it to other interviews.
The best part of watching a good movie is going on RUclips and watching all the awesome press and Q&A stuff for it. I honestly couldn't be more happy to see this up here, and with Kevin Smith no less. Thanks for uploading.
The first hour is the most amazing piece of filmmaking I've seen in years. The second hour not so much. But overall I greatly respect the crazy brilliant mind of Panos.
I don’t dislike the first half of the movie but I think it improved dramatically after Mandy’s death. Love the movie. Interesting how people with clearly different tastes can find different things to enjoy in the same film.
Andrea Riseborough is an incredible actress. I’ve always liked her but the first time I was truly mesmerised by her was in _National Treasure_ with Robbie Coltrane and Julie Walters.
The scene were they portrait the influence of drugs, has to be the most accurate one. One of my friends wasn’t sure if we gave him any drugs before watching it, completely surreal.
Panos talks about creating films the same way Harmony Korine does... combining thoughts, images, sounds, colors into scenes and finding the narrative around those things.
My fave film of 2018 and something different than another remake, another sequel/remake/reboot/prequel to a dead horse franchise that needs to die already like Elm Street/Texas Chainsaw Massacre/Saw/Hellraiser etc., another ghost film, another found footage etc. Excellent horror film from the year besides Quiet Place as both are completely different than the norm. This reminds me of Heavy Metal 1981, Mother's Day 1980, Texas Chainsaw Massacre 1 and 2, Rob Zombie's Devil's Rejects, Hills Have Eyes and Mad Max with great visuals, great performances, good direction and pure brilliance.
I loved Tusk. I hope Panos laughter was praising Tusk. It sounded very teasing. But 2 great director's together. I'm guessing they play off each other pretty well.
yeah, I think a lot of people can relate to what he's saying. Because he expresses all his feelings, a lot of people think seems weird, but a lot of us actually experience these feelings too.
Thanks for your love and support and also being one of my top fan I really appreciate you a lot 🤗❤ Write me on; ncage163@gmail.com Hope you’re keeping safe?

"I've seen that... the power of the individual who believes they're enlightened, and they're actually a narcissist And... It's scary" So true. People who are sipping on their own flavor-aid way too much!
Here's some WILD HINTS to help you DECODE MANDY: If you want to understand the wild ending, theres a couple "magical realism" books from the 1980s you should read. I'll give you a clue about one important but obscure novel in particular: MARK TWAIN, 1986. (Need more? Look at the number on Red (Nic Cage)'s favorite T-Shirt!) The book referenced reveals a LOT about what's really going on in "MANDY" and where Red is at the end of the story. ALSO: the villain's full name JEREMIAH SAND is a secret anagram that explains a lot of the film's backstory and religious themes, especially in connection with the evil cult. ("JEREMIAH SAND" = "HE IS _________." It's creepy when you get it! Want one more clue to understanding "Mandy"? Consider this -- "MANDY" is actually supposed to be short for "MARY MAGDALENE." And "Crystal Lake" is also a reference to the "crystal waters" of the SEA OF GALILEE (really a lake) where Mary Magdalene went fishing w/ Jesus (as Red and Mandy do in the movie) and later lived next to after the Resurrection. Don't believe me? Check out all the biblical reference and direct quotes that the movie uses in connection w/ Mary Magdalene. And BTW -- If you take the letters M-A-N-D-Y out of her name, in fact, the remaining letters spell "MALE RAGE." Oh, and Did you catch the sketch by Mandy that was included at the end of the movie after the credits? If so, this Mary Magdalene representation sketch might look familiar: in.pinterest.com/pin/421508846371556607/
Panos is one of the most exciting and creative contemporary filmmakers. Can’t wait to see what he makes next.
Ben Solo I totally agree and am also really curious to see what Panos comes up with next!👍
@danieljliversLXXXIX i hope not 😭😂
Beyond the Black Rainbow I really liked
instaBlaster
@John Nada kinda huge stretch there's tons of brilliant directors and filmmakers today who are just as good
Mandy is one if not "the" cinematic highlight of 2018.
It’s one of the cinematic highlights of the 21st century.
The most gnarly revenge flick. Such a satisfying film.
You rip my shirt!! You rip my SHIRT!!!
no other movie like this for the next 7 years
I wouldn't expect Nic Cage to show up wearing anything less spectacular than what he's got on in this Q&A .
What a legend
He's Castor fuqing Troy ;)
Linus Roach is the beyond genius performance in this movie. Credit where credit is due.
Yeah he really nailed it, didnt even recognize him until the end.
He crushed it. His performance was entirely convincing.
I saw Mandy the other night and I was blown away...it’s one of the coolest movies I’ve ever seen. Next to, of course, beyond the black rainbow.👍👍👍👍
Linus Roaches performance in this is astonishingly good, best acting I've seen for years.
one of the best movies ever made. i sound trite, but i really feel this way. I was completely lost in this incredible, beautiful world and didn't want to leave. that ending matte painting was the perfect finish. Unbelievable.

3 years and it's still with me just as strongly. It was an experience, went above and beyond most movies I've ever seen
This movie blew my mind.....
Scarecrow76 :/ me too! Check out beyond the black rainbow! If you haven’t already...
Bathroom scene is absolutely brilliant
Best film of the year, no contest. Maybe the best film of the last 5 years.
Nic dresses so mesmerizing...and the shades fit perfect with his face. It's like he's still in the Mandy movie.
This movie was beautiful. It's been a long time since I've seen a unique horror film like this and I'm so please with Panos. He is a genius filmmaker and he has a very creative vision of films. Great job!

Franz Haas absolutely, I can’t agree with you more!👍
Killer video...Killer film...love it❤
Love this Q&A. You get 3 very different masters of their crafts with all their insights.
I'm so glad to see people actually appreciating this film finally!!
Love Panos Cosmatos!!! 💜
Such a treat to see this, instead of the usual commentary.
Just watched Mandy two nights ago. I have to say- Linus stole the show. So in love with him. Fantastic actor.
Saw this movie on Halloween. Bought it immediately after. So good. So perfect. I've loved film my whole life, and this is by far one of my favorite films.
Loved this movie

19:15 That makes sense. I thought myself, there is some Mad Max Road warrior vibe in this movie.
Extraordinary movie

Cosmatos, have the potencial of Peter Jackson in his startings..He will be a great relevant director in the future.
I'd say he's relevant now.
Let’s hope he doesn’t become a lame mainstream hack fraud like Jackson has.
8 years between films is a little bit concerning though...
SpeedOfThought1111 why?
because I want more films than that...but obviously I'll take what I can get. Hopefully he gets more funding now with the success of this movie.
The first hour is the most amazing piece of filmmaking I've seen in years. The second hour not so much. But overall I greatly respect the crazy brilliant mind of Panos.

@@goodtimeskater yeah, pretty nuts
Best interview yet. Thank you
Now I need a new '20,000 Leagues Under The Sea' film with Nic Cage as Captain Nemo.
i love this movie! i want more of this!
Hearing Panos talk about using the camera like a paint brush was super interesting. This dudes going places
Awesome interview......... Awesome Movie!
Am I the only one that absolutely loved Tusk! That final scene was the creme de la creme of all horror! I mean those eyes man, those eyes!
I lost it, when Cage started talking about playing Captain Nemo... (starting at 31:00)
James Cubie me too! Peace Christo 👽
He talks about it in many interviews. Really wants to play that part. Hope he gets to.
Ari Aster & Cosmatos = future of cinema
Thanks for filming this
Panos take on Moon Knight would be dope.
Just make this already
Absolutely!!!
I didn't know I needed that. Yes please.
Thank you for posting this. Such a great Q&A.
Son of George Cosmatos, who directed First Blood Part 2 and cobra!
Thank you soo much for putting this up. Couldn't stay for this after the film so it's great to see it before the Blu ray
Andrea Riseborough is an incredible actress. I’ve always liked her but the first time I was truly mesmerised by her was in _National Treasure_ with Robbie Coltrane and Julie Walters.
PANOS HURRY UP AND MAKE ANOTHER MOVIE ALREADY ITS BEEN 3 YEARS
For all those involved in the development of the movie, congrats to u all
Fantastic movie!!
What a great interview just saw the film for the first time last night on Shudder and stoked because Beyond the Black Rainbow is on there as well
just rewatched with my lady - took us two days she was overwhelmed & I felt kinda bad lol
I’m still waiting for this movie to catch on.
Seems like most people don’t even know it exists.
Those are art films for you, sad reality, shitty big budget movies are most known
thanks for putting this up!
Cool! I have yet to see Mandy but I know what's next Red Wine Talent and Dracccullla!!!!
I thought for sure Charles Manson was being channeled, from the failed music career to the psychedelic murderous family, what a perfect movie.
100% felt this.
It felt like a mix of Manson and David Koresh. It was very believable.
I got an Ash from evil dead vibe from Cage in this movie at times especially that last scene with him in the car.
Especially the montage scene of him forging the battle axe 🪓
Insane film!!!!
nice questions by Kevin :)
I have the exact same reaction to caffeine, if I drink one cup too many I feel sleepy and tired.
It was so damn good.
Movie rocked..
My fave film of 2018 and something different than another remake, another sequel/remake/reboot/prequel to a dead horse franchise that needs to die already like Elm Street/Texas Chainsaw Massacre/Saw/Hellraiser etc., another ghost film, another found footage etc.

Welcome to Pan Cast. I'm Kevin Cosmatos. Panoshhh is Kevin's long lost son. They're both dressed in a director's uniform.
Saw it loved it ! Peace Christo 👽
When Nic Cage mentioned how coffee relaxes him and the action scenes has the same effect. Thats a common theme with ADHD people.
Makes sense, ADHD is partly an endorphin issues. Caffeine and adrenaline can flood the brain with chemicals that can help with focus and attention.
Nobody is mentioning Johann Johannsson. To me this soundtrack is crucial to this movie. Would not be the same without it. Hypnotizing.
I relate with Nicolas Cage when he says coffe relaxes him and in dangerous situations everything slows down
yeah, I think a lot of people can relate to what he's saying. Because he expresses all his feelings, a lot of people think seems weird, but a lot of us actually experience these feelings too.
it is about the neurotransmitters, feeling calm in crisis
Agent stone...He said coffee DOES NOT relax him...It makes him tired!!
Why is nobody ever talking about the Bill Duke van scene. It's one of my favorite scenes from the movie. His character is soo good.
Now I wanna see this guy do a post-apocalyptic movie and have it be the end of his little thematic trilogy of evil 60s mysticism.
Great film
He should work on an entire season of black mirror
Would love to see that. Him and Charlie Brooker could really blow us away.
Thanks for your love and support and also being one of my top fan I really appreciate you a lot 🤗❤

Cool! I know what's next!! More Talent and Red Wine!!
I enjoyed Beyond the Black Rainbow, but man oh man I fucking loved Mandy!
I Never would’ve thought I had something in common with Nic cage...Coffee makes me tired too...🤯
anybody know where Roach got that sweet shirt?!?? I've googled and can't find jack shit...
found it! www.redbubble.com/people/amon-tees/works/34102694-mandy?p=classic-tee
Total death metal font I love it
18:15 that phrazing had to be on purpose 😂
"Better to burn out than f__"
Privileged White Rabbit what an awesome scene that was! Red didn’t give a FUCK!😁
If Nic doesn't play Johnny Cage in the next Mortal Kombat movie I will never forgive WB
Ned Dennehy was BRILLLIANT as well.......honorable mention🥴
Only Nicolas Cage was wearing like a "SUPERSTAR"
Well, he is
Nicolas Cage ❤️

I love seeing Nicolas wearing leather. 😊
Wow Linus looks so normal.
Anyone love cinema should see Mandy and beyond the black rainbow!!!
you know Kevin & Panos smoked some weed before this lmao
They do seem like two peas in a pod.
Nic is rock in’ that golden jacket! FRFR!
That's a phenomenal panel. Thanks for sharing! But does Nic even smile once in that? Mans got no chill XD
Kevin smith Ftw!!!!!
"I've seen that... the power of the individual who believes they're enlightened, and they're actually a narcissist And... It's scary"
So true. People who are sipping on their own flavor-aid way too much!
Panos talking about Johann was so sad.
Kevin smith, a backwards hat, oversized suit jacket and denim shorts😬. Can, a solid gold rockstar jacket, leather pants? and blood red shades 😎
They came and they gave without taking.

I cant seem to find the Mark Twain book published in 1986- any links or further info you can give on that?
@@nathanfoxton9523 I heard somewhere it's an incomplete work.
I really don't get that anagram. What can you get out of jaremand that makes sense?
Imagine if Nicholas Cage played Barry Nyle

Was it just me or did anyone else find this film freaky?
