This method works! It's standard practice for several Victorian Scuba clubs to launch and retrieve members boats this way where no ramp is available. These boats are 5m -7m fiberglass or plate aluminium with up to 200 hp outboards and up to 12 scuba tanks plus lead weight belts on board - they're heavy. At Tidal River Wilson's Promontory where there is a long shallow beach, it common to use 50 - 100m of rope between the trailer and tow vehicle. There would be no way to keep the tow vehicles out of the water otherwise. Just make sure spectators are kept well back out of danger and hang a wet towel or similar on the rope to help absorb whiplash if the rope snaps during the retrieval. Working as a team our club can launch or retrieve 5 boats in under an hour this way.
@@findingjoe Check this. ruclips.net/video/QQKeWvKxXNU/видео.html This was at Walkerville beach near Wilson's Prom. Flinders beach can be tricky as there are a number of people launching there using this technique. The sand can get a bit ploughed up and soft. Great place to see this done in person though.
@@DanWahrenberger How heavy would that boat be? Assume not much different to our 680sf. Any idea where I can get one of those beach wheels from? Saw Dunbier trailers do one.
@@findingjoe Not sure but it's a big plate Aluminium boat with a 200HP outboard and that day would have had at least 8 scuba tanks and 4 x lead weight belts and a full load of fuel on board. There were 4 people doing the launch and retrieval. I've been out on that exact boat and it's large enough to carry up to 6 divers and all their gear with 2 x tanks each with relative comfort.
Good little video. For sure I'd attach the snatch rope to trailer before launching. Instead of walking the trailer back up to the car just pull it out with the vehicle then back up and attach and park.
Tried this with an alloy dingy years back - had a wave go over the top which put a bit of water in it (not much ) was enough to make it sit lower and collect more water - hell of a job to get it out . You really need 2 or 3 ppl to do this .
NEVER.. NEVER.. NEVER stand behind a boat that is launched.. you will end up under water with the boat on top of you!! Might get away with it being a inflatable but not with fibreglass or even dinghy.
I did this to my trailer and have the same boat as this but my wheels suck into the sand as soon as I get to the wet bit and I cant move it. Am I doing something wrong?
What a mission, galv trailer a night mare in the surf, better to get a alloy trailler that floats as the water will float it off the bog holes for the wheels, wont need a rope to pull it out, better still can also get boats with trailer beach wheels that flip down to trailer it so can simple drop them down as reach beach and drag it out by hand, others are using trailers that attach out the back of the surf and its made to drive through surf with boats floater attached, simply anchored and the trailer floats out the back waiting for you to return from fishing winch it on drive back through surf, lets just say its the boats life jacket.. hi from NZ
Hi from Australia! I thought of this floating trailer idea a while back and everyone said I was nuts! Can you direct me to a link or video of this working? Pretty please? I'll shout you a whitebait fritter!
@Roger Otto Give me your mothers contact info. I’ll take her on a couple dates and when I win her trust I’ll record the demonstration you asked for. I promise it won’t take 9 years.
Silly people, lets see this with a 2000lbs fiberglass boat hull (which is light compared to most boats). You could just carry that thing to the water with a few guys and avoid the hassle.
I often hear people talk about "shorting out the electrics" when backing the trailer into water. Now I admit I am a fresh water launcher and salt water does corrode things faster, but the whole shorting out the electrics simply does NOT happen for a 12V system. What DOES happen is hot bulbs hitting cold water crack and quit once air gets in, so if you do not have sealed lamps, then unplug the trailer electrical before launching and let the bulbs cool for a few minutes before backing into the water. Bulbs get REAL hot. Hot glass in cool water will crack. Newer LED lamps are not prone to this and most are sealed and safe. I have been using sealed lamps or LED lamps for 30 years and when I have a failure it is ALWAYS because the seal has failed and cold water hit hot glass bulbs. I do highly recommend Corrosion-X spray to cover the electricals and REALLY reduce any corrosion effects long term. messy stuff but it really works. Obviously metal trailers will corrode, especially in salt water, so hosing them off after a salt water launch will save you grief long term. Also, bearing buddies or whatever other parts of the world call spring loaded bearing caps are also a wonderful thing. The worst thing for bearings is water inside and a hot bearing from trailering dunked into cold water will cool, air inside will contract and water will be sucked in. Bearing buddies keep the grease inside under positive spring pressure so the cold dunk just lets the spring push in and keep the water out.
I answered and said, "If I have found favor in thy sight, O Lord, show this also to thy servant: whether after death, as soon as every one of us yields up his soul, we shall be kept in rest until those times come when thou wilt renew the creation, or whether we shall be tormented at once?" 76 He answered me and said, "I will show you that also, but do not be associated with those who have shown scorn, nor number yourself among those who are tormented. 77 For you have a treasure of works laid up with the Most High; but it will not be shown to you until the last times. 78 Now, concerning death, the teaching is: When the decisive decree has gone forth from the Most High that a man shall die, as the spirit leaves the body to return again to him who gave it, first of all it adores the glory of the Most High. 79 And if it is one of those who have shown scorn and have not kept the way of the Most High, and who have despised his law, and who have hated those who fear the Most High -- 80 such spirits shall not enter into habitations, but shall immediately wander about in torments, ever grieving and sad, in seven ways. 81 The first way, because they have scorned the law of the Most High. 82 The second way, because they cannot now make a good repentance that they may live. 83 The third way, they shall see the reward laid up for those who have trusted the covenants of the Most High. 84 The fourth way, they shall consider the torment laid up for themselves in the last days. 85 The fifth way, they shall see how the habitations of the others are guarded by angels in profound quiet. 86 The sixth way, they shall see how some of them will pass over into torments. 87 The seventh way, which is worse than all the ways that have been mentioned, because they shall utterly waste away in confusion and be consumed with shame, and shall wither with fear at seeing the glory of the Most High before whom they sinned while they were alive, and before whom they are to be judged in the last times. 88 "Now this is the order of those who have kept the ways of the Most High, when they shall be separated from their mortal body. 89 During the time that they lived in it, they laboriously served the Most High, and withstood danger every hour, that they might keep the law of the Lawgiver perfectly. 90 Therefore this is the teaching concerning them: 91 First of all, they shall see with great joy the glory of him who receives them, for they shall have rest in seven orders. 92 The first order, because they have striven with great effort to overcome the evil thought which was formed with them, that it might not lead them astray from life into death. 93 The second order, because they see the perplexity in which the souls of the unrighteous wander, and the punishment that awaits them. 94 The third order, they see the witness which he who formed them bears concerning them, that while they were alive they kept the law which was given them in trust. 95 The fourth order, they understand the rest which they now enjoy, being gathered into their chambers and guarded by angels in profound quiet, and the glory which awaits them in the last days. 96 The fifth order, they rejoice that they have now escaped what is corruptible, and shall inherit what is to come; and besides they see the straits and toil from which they have been delivered, and the spacious liberty which they are to receive and enjoy in immortality. 97 The sixth order, when it is shown to them how their face is to shine like the sun, and how they are to be made like the light of the stars, being incorruptible from then on. 98 The seventh order, which is greater than all that have been mentioned, because they shall rejoice with boldness, and shall be confident without confusion, and shall be glad without fear, for they hasten to behold the face of him whom they served in life and from whom they are to receive their reward when glorified. 99 This is the order of the souls of the righteous, as henceforth is announced; and the aforesaid are the ways of torment which those who would not give heed shall suffer hereafter." 100 I answered and said, "Will time therefore be given to the souls, after they have been separated from the bodies, to see what you have described to me?" 101 He said to me, "They shall have freedom for seven days, so that during these seven days they may see the things of which you have been told, and afterwards they shall be gathered in their habitations." 102 I answered and said, "If I have found favor in thy sight, show further to me, thy servant, whether on the day of judgment the righteous will be able to intercede for the unrighteous or to entreat the Most High for them, 103 fathers for sons or sons for parents, brothers for brothers, relatives for their kinsmen, or friends for those who are most dear." 104 He answered me and said, "Since you have found favor in my sight, I will show you this also. The day of judgment is decisive and displays to all the seal of truth. Just as now a father does not send his son, or a son his father, or a master his servant, or a friend his dearest friend, to be ill or sleep or eat or be healed in his stead, 105 so no one shall ever pray for another on that day, neither shall any one lay a burden on another; for then every one shall bear his own righteousness and unrighteousness." .....2 Esdras 7:75 //////////////////,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Be interested to know if anyone has tried this method at Flinders Vic on a larger boat like a Haines 680sf?

Have used this method in the late 70s launching a 19ft Vita Craft, peace of cake.
Awesome i will definitely be trying this method out in the near future
Thanks I love these uploads

Yea I was biting my lip seeing that
Waiting for the prop to squash his toes.
Thanks for that!
I think I'll stick to the good ole fashion launch ramp. By the way, what about the electrical plug? I hope it's dry before it's reconnected
Where did you get the part for the wheel. I can't find a bearing and hub like that. Cam
I know I'm pretty randomly asking but does anybody know a good site to stream newly released series online ?
@Keaton Nixon I use FlixZone. You can find it on google =)
@Gunnar David yea, have been watching on Flixzone for months myself =)
@Gunnar David thank you, I signed up and it seems to work =) I appreciate it !!
@Keaton Nixon you are welcome :)

Good tips, Thank you
what is the heaviest boat you can launch this way? can a jet boat be launched like that?
excellent. thanks
will this work with a MacGregor sailing boat?
I need to be able to do this in sand that gets normal 4x4s stuck sometimes not rock sand.
Get a dirty big tractor.
To save the struggle and panic you can't beat an electric winch, plus trailer ok while in straight line knackerd if you have to turn at all

Hello il y a un plan pour fabriquer le montage de la roue ?
Merci
hmm... is this possible with my 2000# seadoo jet boat
In mild enough surf.
That heavy Seadoo will swamp if you are not careful.
exelente! !
Looks like Australia and judging by the guys accent - definitely.
the strong man way is to put your back under the front then carry it to the water and vice versa.

Surf boat with flotation no surf bit of a joke
Where's your video?
Major process for a little boat...lol
Thanks for the video mate. 👍 I wouldn’t stand behind a boat trying to hold it in surf. You will one day get smoked by the boat!!! Stand to the side
must be nice to have like two foot breakers lol. NO WAY you could do that here.
where
just go and watch how South Africans do it much better and your trailer doesnt go into the water so you dont run any risks on a rough day
Not everyone has tractors though 😅
