Nice review, Ray! I think that the disappointment with the Lionel catalog was that it really didn't pay homage to Lionel's history. A few pages detailing their history and then basically a bunch of reissued items, made from existing tooling, with very high prices. Only the NYC F3 was a throwback to the glory days. It would have been better to see a line-up of their classic train, but no. Either way, the Detroit Edison U Boats are pretty cool. Edison had both GE's and EMD's, in their line-up They hauled their coal trains from mines out east, mostly West Virginia, in the 70's and 80's. They had mid-train remotes and the trains were huge, basically two trains in one. The cars were bathtub gondolas, with way more capacity than today's hoppers. They were over the standard Class 1 weight limit, but they ran exclusively on CSX. We used to seem them, when they came through Toledo. I like the bottle cars, with the glow out of the cap. Those are neat in real life. They are limited in their speed and are so hot that they set-off the hot box detectors and have to be inspected, each time. Other than that, I think that the Atlas catalog is pretty straight forward, compared to Lionel's, with all of their themed items. Pretty much meat and potatoes, solid engines and cars. An excellent review and video, as always.

    In 2020 I purchased a Lionel Burlington Northern GP - 38 for
$219.00, it came with a remote and operates conveniently. That yr I also purchased Conrail SD 80 Mac for $400.00
New. It runs by Universal Remote. Now they want
$500.00 - $700.00 in todays money for those engines that's not including shipping and sales tax. Todays prices are just ridiculous.

I would like the Conrail Dash 8 but I'm not a DCS fan. I will go for the DT&I and Erie 60ft box cars

Atlas always puts out an interesting catalog now that they're serious about O Gauge. For years it seemed like they just couldn't make up their minds whether to get serious about O or not. While there's nothing in the catalog I can't live without
(Although it'll be a different story if they comeout with some new Steam Era billboard cars!) I'd have to say I found your review enjoyable just the same.
Hey, have fun up at the Amherst club show! I've never been and probably never will, it's just too far away, but I've heard and seen videos about it and it really looks like a sight to see. Kind of like a "York North!"
Have a safe trip and good hunting!

Yeah ok catalog, some of those premier prices are right in line with Lionel so people should complain about that too. I do like those vehicles, I'll probably pick some of those up.

You forgot to mention that future Atlas Premier O rolling stock will feature rotating wheel bearing cap trucks because they got tired of seeing Dakman complain about it lol. That was the first thing Atlas told me back at the fall York show. In the catalog that was given out during the fall show the new trucks were announced in that one.

Definitely not a ground breaking book from Atlas by any means, But the Dash 8s and the road names being offered are great and welcomed.
Best thing that’s in this is that Coke fountain truck, Definitely gonna pic that up.

Such a shame that MTH didn't do anything with the C30-7 other than demote it to Railking Scale line.

Depends what you like. For me, Atlas put out an amazing catalogue. The Detroit Edison engines were a huge win for me. I like to collect electric utility related items and these were a much welcomed announcement. So, by comparison, the atlas catalogue was a much better one for me personally.

FYI. Lionel is not overpriced, those orange and even more so black boxes are very expensive. We all know you get what you pay for and apparently blue, purple and yellow boxes are much more inexpensive than orange or black boxes.
