In the interaction with the Inkmoth and 2 hammers. He bolted with the Hammer still on the stack, he didn't say, "It resolves, responding to the trigger from Sigarda's Aid" Since that's the way the stack was, there would be nothing stopping you putting the hammer on the Esper Sentinel.
nice finally another episode of quality paper magic gameplay on youtube! :-) very nice set built there :) also nice to see hammertime here ^_^ keep up the greatness! :3
A year late to the game, but I'm here to be That Guy and clarify that the nominative plural of "nexus" in the original Latin ( _not_ Greek) is "nexus", so in English it would be pluralized as "nexuses". Another example of such a word is "status". You are most welcome :)
Jamin with that literal hammer... lol How about Esper Mill next week? ... path to exile (synergizes with archive trap), stony silence, and rest in peace.
Fantastic gameplay, matches, and quality of production! I look forward to seeing more content like this. My preference would be that the music be curated to the scenes a bit more, though. Feels strange to have hype fun music in a dense gameplay moment.
Very nice! Finally a new episode :D! What about 4c or 5c Velomachus Turns for Arne Huschenbeth? The historic version was very popular before the Time Warp ban and Arne surely remembers it!
Heck yeah, modern is back and SO AM I!!^^ Can't help but stick with the lands-theme, how about some Scapeshift? It's been getting some attention recently and looks really fun (and pretty strong). Great episode, guys. PS: Nice set^^
For anyone interested: T1 G1 from hammer should’ve led on Saga+drum. Your worst case is they blow up drum which they won’t and even if they do you free up your hammer. Follow up on Thopter t2 and plains you can make tokens starting T2. The explosive draw forces them to have to 1 for 1 the tokens and if they do that they now can’t deal with the combo. And vice versa. Ragavan is terrible against you so you really don’t care it’s just a better birds of paradise
Nice matches ;) I recognized two things: As the kozileks returns was played the hammertime had the chance to activate the inkmoth nexus in order to make the two constructs 3/3. Was the plan to save the nexus or was it a mistake? And the murktides getting bigger whenever a instant or sorcery leaves the grave, and that was missed in the last game ^^ Anyway great content ;)
If he animates the Nexus, it becomes a 1/1 which dies to Kozilek’s Return, and then both Constructs die as state-based effects from having 2 damage marked and becoming 2/2s
Video might be too old now to get an answer but I am confused. How is Carl able to twice destroy all 0 mana nonland permanents with engineered explosives? Did I miss him casting those with colorless mana?
Too much thinking, we can't do that! No seriously, I think at the time Hammer was only just turning into a good deck, so we were not very experienced. But you are right, there were other lines.
Just some constructive criticism: Carl goes a little too hard on the reactions and forced jokes. I know he's going for entertainment but it comes across as over the top. Most of his jokes are centered around "yes, this play/card/I'm the greatest" or "why yes, isn't that SO obvious?" which naturally lends to really shallow self-analysis. I like your guys' content and want to see it get better.
im looking into buying that murktide deck but you keep losing with it...now i dont know what to get for modern to be in par with top tier players :) heeeelp
Assuming you're talking about G3, I intentionally didn't (and played hammer instead) to have more lands available - activating inkmoth etc consume a lot of mana, so I wanna have as much as possible
and we thought ragavan is broken, when urza's saga is worst. mh2 simply broke modern. wotc did it on purpose to make modern a rotation set if u want to play competitive magic. go ahead, buy you playset of ragavans n urza's saga and enjoy it before mh3 comes out.
When i started getting into mtg content, i've found it off putting and weird too. Apparently Pro Players like to shuffle the card they draw immediately, so the opponents has less info about what they just top decked. Small thing, but i guess every matters in competetive play. This probably becomes force of habit, plus it might be a way to let out all the nervosity and tension. I disliked it too, now its kinda ASMR for me
Can you stop flipping the cards like an insane person ... if you're insecure just shake your leg or do something else. And Karmacrow is great. Just be aware of the fact that cards like Ragavan cost around 50% more as if you would buy it from a private person. I guess the 3€ shipping cost for getting them in four envolopes instead of 1 is reasonable.
If you go to larger tournaments or local game stores, you'll notice that flicking cards is a very common magic tick. It's nothing to do with being nervous, it's simply something fun to do with your hands as you wait on your opponent:)

You guys are better than scg, because you have real people who know how the game works playing.
28:40 "let's just really hope that none of the cards in his hand are Puresteel Paladin"
*Jamin draws his third Puresteel Paladin*
at 44:10, when 2nd murktide enters with a counter, the first murktide gets bigger too.
came to the comments for this
at 40:00 he could've bolted thopter the turn prior and cast both same turn for a 10/10 and 6/6, yikes!
Esper sentinel has reach apparently to block the flying construct
@@badvoodoo2097 hammer makes it lose flying
“This is the most professionally lit I’ve ever been” killed me

This is a great vid-format. I hope you'll continue the series, it's so much fun.
41:33 You should have abraded in response to him casting the welding jar

Great production value, cool format (as in the way everything is presented and explained) and amazing hosts! Keep up the good work!
I think living end and the new control decks like through the breach or 4c control look really spicy to try out
The scariest gorilla in the game used to be Simian Spirit Guide, but now, he is up in van heaven with his brother Hurambe who also did nothing wrong.
R.i.p harambe
Gorilla Shaman used to smash Moxes, he was quite scary too
I like that we're able to follow along your plays. Great video, thank you!

That was a great set of games! You were able to win with the "weaker" version of Hammer Time too! The set looks awesome btw!
Very nice! Finally a new episode :D!
What about 4c or 5c Velomachus Turns for Arne Huschenbeth? The historic version was very popular before the Time Warp ban and Arne surely remembers it!
in love with your editing + visual. great job guys!

16:47 that "dude" broke me😂😂😂
Thank you for another amazing episode. I'd love to see Izzet Breach for next week. 😀
Arne?! Hell ya guys, great guest.
39:00 saga trigger after draw step or am i missing something ?
That face when he drew the explosives 🤣
4:25 you could’ve played out the saga, the springleaf drum and ornithopter. Would’ve had 1 off the drum and a land next turn for the constructs
Hey Carl, cool content ^^
Maybe we met another time randomly in the train xD
Was nice talking to you, maybe we could repeat that another time^^
Sick games! Would love to see that BtL Lurrus action

I have a magic club at my school, and there was a murktide player there. I remember having this matchup alot because I built hammer time at one point
Nice matches ;)

@@godtiermtg ok that is true, thabk you ;)
I saw the murktide mistake as well
24:33, is that a Wilhelm Scream?
Yes! I thought it would be funny to throw it in as a cheeky sound effect
Nice video this time, I love see paper magic with top tier decks. I hope to see BTL scapeshift next time!
Lets go murktide vs hammer time thanks for the video
Really nice video ! It's very useful for Modern beginners like myself !
Very happy that you like it!

It's not a Darcy. It's a DRC - Domaine de la Romanee Conti. The world's finest wine.
Carl is loud enough not to need a microphone.
Hey guys, awesome gameplay and cool decks!
What camera and equipment (overhead vs tripod) do you use for your overhead video?
Would love to see some mono-red (bedlam reveler) or Izzet blitz, thanks!
*casts Murktide*
Caaaaarl, that kills people Caaaaarl...
How about playing Zombies with the new Champion of the Perished?
Asking them to play enigmatic incarnation again, enchantment pod is amazing
Nice gz on having 10k subs! :-)
@29:40 would have been awesome if the editors cut away to hear Harrys thoughts on Carls hand.
These Europeans are funny. Love their passion and funny personalities.
love the new set! looks great
44:05 they forgot the murktide secret effects.
I love games that don’t involve control ❤️💅🏼
What do you mean with “future MPL”? Isn’t it discontinued?
How can you activate Urza’s Saga before your opponent ends his turn?
Been watching for a while, just subscribed, my pet deck in modern is a Eldrazi Tron, can you play that?
Thanks for the sub! :) Do you have a list for us?
I have heard that only around 10% of all mondern matches go beyond turn 5...
I feel lied to.
that's bullshit lol
Wasn't Chalice supposed to be destroyed by explosives as well?
Video might be too old now to get an answer but I am confused. How is Carl able to twice destroy all 0 mana nonland permanents with engineered explosives? Did I miss him casting those with colorless mana?
If you cast X for 0, you did not use any coloured mana, so sacrificing it would destroy each nonland permanent with converted mana cost 0
You guys should try mono white tokens vs izzet blitz
Ha second match he missed the saga counter on Urza's saga....I see he noticed it after he ended turn and took care of it, but it was funny.
You request jank but only play tear decks xD i think my mono red equip deck beats hammertime. Sometimes xD
I will repost my jank list in case you change your mind :p
4 fireblade charger
4 goblin gavaleer
4 champion of the flame
3 Ragavan
3 Valduk Keeper
1 Fury
4 Galvanic Blast
2 Abrade
4 shuko
3 Bonesplitter
3 cranial plating
2 grafted wargear
1 boots of speed
4 Urza's Saga
1 Hanweir Battlements
1 Darksteel citadel
16 mountains
Oh we have played some jankier decks before 😅
Thanks for the list!
great quality
why did he not attack first with the construct and flashed in the hammer and equiped after the opponent declared blocker?
Too much thinking, we can't do that! No seriously, I think at the time Hammer was only just turning into a good deck, so we were not very experienced. But you are right, there were other lines.

Seems like Carl is on the spectrum of some sort, I’m sure he was just passionate lol
Mardu lurrus or Esper control?
Hollowvine, mill, 4c elementals?
EE and abrade in main??
What about Murktide against a different deck? Or many some Gifts Storm (the new list with Wish)
how can i play with you?

"This is not a good matchup"
lol
If you have a 35% winrate, you still win 35% of your matches even though it's a terrible win rate :)
@@CardmarketMagic yeah, i finished the video after and Carl was absolutely smashed
23:46 animate inkmoth nexus adds an artifact this giving constructs 3 toughness
Doesn't work. Inkmoth Nexus dies to the 2 damage and then the 2 constructs die when their toughness goes back to 2.
Jeskai Stoneblade plz
im looking into buying that murktide deck but you keep losing with it...now i dont know what to get for modern to be in par with top tier players :) heeeelp
I would never play chalice in Murktide, half the spells of your deck are cmc 1 and saga gets the hammer direct in play
WG bogles and Martyrproc
Abrade Main in Murktide? Looks Preboarded to me :P
Just took the updated goldfish list of the time 🤷♂️ I guess hammer was more prominent then than now
UW CONTROL please
Hammertime!!!
Can you play mill next time.
Harden scales pleaseeeeee
Some Tron action maybe?
Yeah! of the mono blue variety!
No acting nexus I response to the return?
If I activate Nexus, it dies and the tokens go back to 2/2 with 2 damage on them so they die
Me: shouldn't he sac Silent Clearing in case he find's a Hammer?
Jamin next turn: finds a Hammer
🤷♂️
Assuming you're talking about G3, I intentionally didn't (and played hammer instead) to have more lands available - activating inkmoth etc consume a lot of mana, so I wanna have as much as possible
