I was looking for these kinds of videos past few moths, you are amazing. Please keep Baldur's Gate 3 on every list, to me it's an ultimate benchmark :) Have a good one
You have been doing a great job with Mac coverage. Please keep Rust as a game benchmark. Its a popular game and have very good visuals and its also CPU intensive. My m2 pro 16 inch runs the game great but I have noticeable frame drops sometimes because of the 16gb ram limit. I’ve seen SWAP usage as high as 7 gigabytes and usually 4-5 gigabytes of swap is on average playing RUST.
Didn’t rust also recently receive a full visual and world overhaul? Probably far more expensive performance wise now. I agree to adding it as a benchmark.
@ would you recommend getting into the game on Mac? Is it generally a stable and supported platform compared to the others? I have an M1 Max 64gb RAM which should cover the games memory leeching right?
on m1pro 16GB Rust native on Rosetta emulation runs 80FPS for me on low settings and adjusted for competitivness, no issues to play at all, so looking if m4pro would be better - it should.. just not with macports lol + EAC anticheat is not working thru the Wine.
@@Seb00lean i think that playing the game with your hardware would be an enjoyable experience. I think that my main problem with the stuttering is the RAM and you have way more than I do, not only that you have much better performance with your M1 Max chip even tho I have m2 pro. When I play rust on my Mac I play it the exact same way I would on my desktop with a 4070 super, meaning that I have discord open,OBS, stream and several chrome browsers. I’d start with super low settings and then increase important settings when you find out what your M1 Max machine can run
I would love to see these new minis as they stack up against older benchmark titles like Witcher 3 and Shadow of the Tomb Raider. I know they have been tested to death on older platforms, but it’d be nice to see what gains these new chips give relative to the prior generations. For those sticking to older titles and emulation, there may be some value in knowing what the price versus improvement is in these areas, for better weighing potentially cheaper, prior generation options. Great work, as always, thank you!
Completely agree with this. You need consistent tests to benchmark performance against the same family of chips. That’s true of all machines, Nvidia, Intel, AMD even phones etc. I’d like to see 1% and 0.1% lows. Especially on integrated graphics that’s got huge memory but low bandwidth, on optimised games you tend to get FPS that’s not very high but very consistent. Poorly optimised games especially through Rosetta you often get massive avergage performance but it’s a stuttery mess. Like Alien Isolation on M series.
That base mac mini has 4T flops on GPU, equivalent with GTX 1060 (100$) while the m4 pro supports 9T flops, while latest gaming consoles do between 11-15T flops. The m4 memory bandwidth 120Gb/s actually corresponds to 4T flops GPU while m4 pro 273Gb/s to 9T flops. It’s practically a GPU merge with a CPU sharing same bus. So any 200-300$ desktop GPU will smoke this m4 chip and no need for emulation. some user said use mac for mac and desktop pc for gaming.

15) Gears 5
16) Gears of War (1,2,3) via xbox emulation.
17) WWE2K24
Thank you.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider, No Mans Sky, Resident Evil 4, Baldurs Gate 3, Lies of P, Death Stranding. Please test these games on every new M4 variant. I assume very few people will be running Crossover to play Skyrim and GTA5.
We got mac gaming before GTA 6
This makes no sense, it has M1 pro performance or even worst, i played Rust at the high preset and 1080p and got 60fps all the time in the M1 PRO 14 GPU
Can you try 7 days to die next
Gaming on mac is just like spacex rocket, it is about eficient & effective. Gaming on windows is just like nasa rocket. Forget electricity bill😂
I see a lot of these videos lately and it's hilarious if you think that my 8 years old PC has better performance in gaming than my Mac mini M4. Why to buy a Mac for games? I have bought the MAC mini for my work and it works fantastic, I am definitely not using it for gaming.
Can it run valorant
lol ok, now play Cyberpunk with raytracing.
Many thanks for beam ng!
Why don't u focus primarily on the native Mac games and leave VM and emulation in the end? Also would be good to mention what kind of version of the game u r playing, what API version game uses and how optimized it is from your point of view through rating.
Skyrim m4 pro 40 fps nice 😂 amd A6 2010 60 fps 😂😂😂😂
Nice video as always! What would be very interesting to see how the M4 Pro 20GPU stacks up against the M1 Max 32GPU. Do you still have an M1 Max?
Could you please test less Windows games, I personally mostly play the native Mac games made for the new architecture, so would love if you kept your focus on those.
do you have a Specced out M4 mac mini to test?
Hi,
thanks for your content, it is really very helpfull. Has anyone here tried to play World of Tanks on a Max mini?
Or could it please be on your list for some future video? 🙂
Thanks for any information about that!
What about League of Legends?
So what about the higher Spec M4 Pro ? You gonna compare it ?
I mean being able to play world of Warcraft on a machine that’s so small is awesome too bad wow sucks now
