Hey, love your vids. Im a new spearo and I am wondering if you can do a vid on currents, what to watch out for and the causes, such as topography? It’s the main thing that worries me going out too far and I am finding little info on it to reassure me. At the moment I don’t go out of bays but would like some more things to help me notice if it’s safe or not.
Great video and adventure! Nice weather for the UK standards. Not keen on the vis though. Kind of puts me off from moving to South to Plymouth :) :) :)
Haha I think you mean Start Point but i actually think Spearpoint is an awesome name Let me know how the hook goes! I think they are magic wands for lobbos 👍
Awesome video as always. I was spearing in Cornwall recently and didn't shoot a single fish. Was good fun diving but would of been better with some fish. Ah well it is what it is. I look forward to more videos soon mate !
Lovely to see another of your adventures Joe. The good conditions will come soon...🙏🤞 I came by the startpoint shop two weeks ago; bought far more than initially intended and had a great service! Cheers 😊
Well done Joe, great to see you out diving again - the sea looked very wintery indeed, Summer's been a long time coming! Think I'm going to have to get myself one of your crab hooks, very nice design! Looking forward to more videos! 👌🏼
Thanks Jason its a pleasure. I usually dive for around a minute but can do two minutes if I need to go deeper. I rarely stay on the bottom long, instead trying to dive where the fish are
Great video Joe, well done on the fish! Such a shame the weather has been so bad so far this year :'( I had already caught a few bass amongst other things by this time last year :(
Hi Joe missed you so glad your back I’m taking my boat down to lyme bay for the start of the season but do have a few questions if I may We are camping near Salcombe in July and thinking of bringing the boat. You went out from kingsbridge what state of the tide can you leave and come back, where do you leave the trailer and how much do they charge to launch Also how long does it take to get to salcombe from Kingsbridge by boat. Finally is there a speed limit on the estuary Look forward to more videos
Hello 👋 So you have 3 hours either side of high tide to launch at kb, possibly longer on neap tides. There is a large space for trailers at the top of the slipway which is very wide though it can get busy in the summer. It takes about 20 mins to get to salcombe, the speed limit is 8 knots then 6 knots
Thanks Joe that’s great it’s the combination of your videos and the salcombe fisherman who also goes out from KB that got us to book a holiday down there again. Maybe nearer the time you could suggest an easy shallow dive area so I can take my son spearfishing we got the suit from your colleague the great cook. Look forward to the next video
Great video mate! Always a pleauser to see you back in the water🤿Hope to dive the English coastline this year - very keen to spear some of the species you guys have! 🐟
I want to go spearfishing but I keep checking the MSW website and there seem to be waves meaning poor visibility in my experience... Should I be checking something else other than wave height? I live too far away to drive up to a beach to check the waves and don't have a boat...yet
Cracking Video Joe! As Always.

Many thanks Dyk, I hope you get the chance to dive here and enjoy yourself!
Just started freediving, around torquay currently. Any tips on breathe hold and equalising? Thanks
Is there any process you typically follow to try and find visibility? As always, awesome video mate!
Thanks for your question, something I definitely intend on answering in a future video
I want to go spearfishing but I keep checking the MSW website and there seem to be waves meaning poor visibility in my experience... Should I be checking something else other than wave height? I live too far away to drive up to a beach to check the waves and don't have a boat...yet
This is something I wanted to try and explain in my next video 👍
@@JoePkSpearfishing Perfect! Can't wait! 👍👍 I was thinking of going down around Bantham or Wembury this weekend but forecast is not so great
Is the blue stretchy spaghetti bungee line more resistant to chafe?
Its excellent, had the full joe treatment
🤟
What kind of boat is that? Is it a UK specific boat?
Its a brig navigator 610. No they are made in Ukraine and sold all over the place I think
Great to have your spearfishing videos back, Joe. Keen to see what this season has in store 🦞🐟🦀
Thanks Jacob.
