after watching this tribute i have some thoughts - when in the second movie elozabeth uses jack's compass, it points at him. many people interpret it as a proof that she had feelings for him. but what i realized is that elizabeth doesn't want JACK, she wants to BE LIKE jack. she wants to be free like him, to lead like him, to experience adventures and uncertainty... and we see her grow from a lady to a pirate king. a true legend. we deserved a better movie than the fifth one, and it should have been elizabeth who had broken the curse and had freed will
Very very on point. Though I wish she wasn’t with Will. She could’ve been Jack but she chose to stay on land and wait for her man to return. When she could’ve been free as a sparrow.
@mariem8705 Maybe for the first 10 years she could stay on land to raise Henry as seen in the post-credits scene of At World's End. But after the boy is old enough she should have returned to the sea and have adventures. She should've been helping Henry in Dead Men Tell No Tales. They literally only had her for a cameo because Keira Knighley is expensive. It would have made her reunion with Will feel more earned if SHE was responsible for breaking the curse.

She is such an underrated character! I've always loved her, even as a kid. I remember having two giant POC posters in my room, one of Jack and one of her.
I really want someone to do a video essay on how Elizabeth is a total badass who turns the damsel in distress trope on its head and becomes a major power player in the movies. She never sits around and waits for things to happen to her, she pays attention and she takes action. She uses her femininity as a powerful weapon in a male dominated world.
This is beautiful! This is why Elizabeth Swann is my favorite. A young girl who dreamed to be with the pirates and then becomes one and leads them to war. If anyone asks me why I love this character, I'm sending them to this video. You captured everything about her. Excellent work! Can't wait to see what you do next!

Her Character is Based off a real person Granuaile Ni Mhaille, Granuaile was way more badass then what she's portrayed as in the movie
