      Also, all my buddies have IRS Challengers and we are not fortunate enough to have Velcro tracks by us. We struggle, but many of us are running 1.2 60’ using a front Santhuff strut and stock rear Demon struts/Springs. Leaving in 1st gear with 3.09s. Great info on your videos.

    1) Lockout Diff and subframe
    2) Get rid of rubber bushings; Buy AAD control arms front AND rear.
    3) Get the appropriate alignment.
    4) Get good shocks. Im in favor of starting with the front. (Controversial)
    5) no sway bars for us.
    6) liteweight Wheels and preferrably a 15” rear wheel/tire combo.

This guy is starting off in 2nd with 2.62's and I put 309's in mine...I used to hook before I billeted everything and cammed and bored out my SC...Will mine be prone to break as well? I already have the cradle lock out and the diff is waiting to be put in...

    Can you elaborate a little on how the new shocks are an improvement? Not trying to criticize anybody's product. Just trying to learn

    • @KevinWilsonSBC
      @KevinWilsonSBC  Год назад +1

      Good question. John Reed with many years of tuning these cars IRS and front suspensions has dialed in the valving and rate of valving. With the previous shocks, the car struggled to keep the front end "smooth" through the hit to the finish line. They were either too loose or to tight. That is a fine line on keeping the front end moving smooth as the front end of a car this heavy is critical. Then the rear is so much more stable with much, much lighter springs now than what we had to run in the rear to compensate for the shock valving. It is hard to explain how much more control and stability these Menscer IRS shocks give this platform. Go fast, go straight! Be SAFE!

    • @treyrags
      @treyrags Год назад

      @Kevin Wilson thank you for the reply. I'm fighting launches on my street car at the track. It's a mono leaf/cal trac type setup with Viking DA all around and Hoosier DR Pros. I've gotten it much better but it still has more in it. I'm actually well versed on 4 link setups as we ran in comp eliminator for many years. But this is a whole different animal. I'd like to contact you privately about your ideas if you've got time.

    Why not leave in first gear?

    • @KevinWilsonSBC
      @KevinWilsonSBC  Год назад +4

      With the 1st gear ratio listed in the video with the rear gear, 4400 lbs and this kind of power and if it hooks the driveshaft will likely quickly become a 2 piece driveshaft... It is hard to explain how much power these motors put down with these whipple superchargers. Remember this is a street car that you can drive around, get groceries, drive thru windows and all with AC and E85 pump gas. Then go run 5.70's at 123 MPH with a 2nd gear launch. Go fast, go straight! Be SAFE!

    • @jcasey460
      @jcasey460 Год назад

      @@KevinWilsonSBC Thanks for clarifying this Kevin it's the power. Great to have you do an on track IRS video. Not suspension but if you are allowed to say, at what point does Don put the trannie back into Auto so that it's trying to downshift? E85 street tune...WOW! And really nice suspension...talk about hooking on a 295...not too many people adding tire pressure :). Thanks
