*Fabulous* video. No garbage music, no random babble to just hear your own voice, no slow-watching you turn screws and LOTS of good, direct information. Subscribed!
Fabulous. The most over engineered and perfectly executed building of shelves. A true OCD love affair with doing things right. Love the 21st century craftmanship.
On occasion I have a project that I’m stumped on either bc I can’t imagine a solution myself or inspiration for a look, etc. and you or another woodworker like Michael Alm, Keith Johnson, Bourbon, etc. will magically come up with a solution or inspiration around the same time and I can’t tell you how appreciative I am for the ability that you all can share and are willing to share so much knowledge, problem solving, design ideas, etc. For ie, I’m building a solid hickory vanity and getting close to putting finish on and also need to come up with a simple, fairly thin shelf that’ll also hold hooks for towels below but can’t seem to find a rounded edge or something to die into the wall… well you just helped me to see a bigger radius would look beautiful to do just that so thank you and at some point when I build cabinets for tool storage I will be purchasing your organization bins, etc. I love your integrated cabinet handles with the plastic… looks stunning and clean. Anyways we appreciate your hard work and know it’s not as simple as turning on the camera and magically everything pulls together as it takes hard work, dedication, money, I’m sure a lot of risk in the beginning, etc. to bring all this content to reality so thank you again
I'm a professional carpenter and I'm always making bespoke projects for clients. I absolutely love what you have done here. Attention to detail is fantastic. I wish you could come to my workshop to make me some jigs ha ha. This is the first of your videos I have seen, so I'm looking forward to checking out your channel and your website.
I had a similar issue with my kitchen wall cabinet lights being a bit cool, so warmed them up with some thin strips of orange lighting gel under the diffuser. Works a treat!
I’m telling you…I have no engineering smarts and I absolutely LOVE watching how your brain works on how to solve these issues…really inspiring. Thanks!
For anyone that may need to get the shelves off after realizing an "oops" moment, wedges work great. Found that one out after making his shelves for our nook 😬 turned out great afterwards tho!
The result was awesome! Good for you!! I enjoy your video about your passion for different tries and ideas. Thanks for sharing. Love your experimental spirit:)
I’ve really enjoyed the few videos of yours I’ve watched so far. I’m probably not getting into 3d printing (light exposure in the past, but I’m just not much on computers), but I’m subscribing anyway. I like your ingenuity and your presentation is clean, concise, and very watchable. Keep up the great work, sir! Looking to build the older chamfered shelf soon for under my bedroom tv. Thanks for the inspiration and clever instruction.
At least one of my youtubers doesn't end up with crappy looking half assed solutions, because it would make a easier video. I really like the extra mile you've gone there. Congrats to this absolute unit of a shelve board. Perfect execution. Also, you're english has improved a lot, since you uploaded the dust extractor videos - which was the reason I subscribed a long time ago. Back then it was a chore to listen to you, nowadays it's a joy.
That’s really awesome, surprised you would not have added blocking in the planning stage to account for this, but I guess with metal studs that might have had its own challenges. I’ve had too many issues with drywall anchors/toggle bolts to fully trust them for this kind of application
This video gave the inspiration I needed for a much simpler jig to drill out the centres of acrylic tubes to the correct diameter perfectly straight thank you!
Nice thin floating shelf 2.0. I just moved to a new house and really want to give these thing floating shelves a try. Your 3D files seem like they will be very handy. Thank you.
Dude that's one beautiful shelf, I especially appreciate the effort gone into the curve with the lighting strip..... I also love using threaded rod for floating shelves....
This is the first of your videos I have seen, amazing video and stunning project. Liked, Subscribed at your channel and activated notification bell. Thanks for sharing.
I have no idea why this channel has never come up in my suggested videos until today, but... Holy sh!t. The rapid fire nature of the edits is perfect. And the seemingly German accent is so mild that you hardly notice it! Of course, it's possible there is zero German accent here, but he looks exactly like some German folks I've met (right down to the way he ties back his hair and of course the eyebrows). But I digress. 7:25 Right before the heat gun came out, I was thinking.... "Heat gun that sh!t." I could see working in a shop with this guy would be great. 8:58 Same! I build cat trees as part of my business model (I take care of cats). As a result of immersing myself into the world of cat furniture, I've had some requests that have taken my skills to the next level. My motto is, "Challenge accepted." I'm at the point now where someone can show me a picture of something, we discuss overall dimensions, and I can build it. I got a request last week to build something I've never built before, but honestly it will come down to just making it look good. All the pieces of the puzzle are already in my set of skills. It comes down to communicating with the client to make sure what you're building meets their standards. 12:02 I actually have a drill attachment that turns it into a drill press, which in turn allows me to drill perfectly at 90 degrees! That's a cool idea though. 17:25 I could argue that it would be less effective if it was too easy to slide into place.
I was looking for how to make thinner floating shelves. Ty! I was expecting some negative drawbacks but so far it looks like theres nithing wrong making them that thin.
Springback: It might interest you to know: I used to build Four Slide tooling. It's an ancient Pre CNC technology of bending metal wire or other things made of metals. The slides came in from four directions for complex shapes.. I'd design and build the tooling and work out the problem you had there called springback. Weld run a shipment of wire and send the finished parts out. Then when they job was ordered again, the old tooling was no good. Thisis because no two batches of steel wire have the exact same springback characteristics.
the end of the led's on the curved side casts a really bright spot on the wall. Perhaps remove the last 1-2 LED's. That woud create a "luminance taper" as the embedded light gets close to the wall
Is that a kitchen or a futuristic show room? Looks so clean and tidy, and I am all for it. Oh also beautiful, love the contrast between the wood and worktops.
This looks amazing! Great work! But as you planned this during the building of the wall, the board could be integrated into the wall. Also why are you not using the outer wall next to the window as support? As it touches this wall too?
Could you have combined 2 of those 3D printed end curve jigs into one? One for doing the curved ends, and also the same one for doing the curved routing guide?
You should look at those white LED Neon stripes out out of thick slilicone (or PVC or something). They could probably just be pushed in a routed channel no matter how curvy it is.
The effort you invest to make these customized projects is truly admirable.
I know right!

It’s always one of my favorite YT moments seeing one of your new videos popping up on my feed
Cool trick with the anchors. Also useful when installing rivet nuts in tight spaces, if there is no room to use the proper tool.
It must be a pleasure to wake-up every morning in your hand crafted home!
Even the simplest piece of woodworking you make ends up looking amazing, thanks for being so inspiring
You're a mad 3D printing Scientist. Great work as always!
the value of this apartment is skyrocketing!!! Super clean!!
Unbelievable work! Lucky you built the wall behind so it was nice and square!
I'm a professional carpenter and I'm always making bespoke projects for clients. I absolutely love what you have done here. Attention to detail is fantastic. I wish you could come to my workshop to make me some jigs ha ha.

Attention to detail was great in this project. Respect.
That kitchen sure does look pretty
Thanks!
I had a similar issue with my kitchen wall cabinet lights being a bit cool, so warmed them up with some thin strips of orange lighting gel under the diffuser. Works a treat!
Good to see your back to smaller projects.
love to see you happy...I was following your journey to makeover your apartment since the beginning... you are awesome AL...
I’m telling you…I have no engineering smarts and I absolutely LOVE watching how your brain works on how to solve these issues…really inspiring. Thanks!
Another stroke of beautifully executed craftsmanship and skill Mr Chappel. 🙌
This was super legit. Amazing. I am such a sucker for solid white oak.
For anyone that may need to get the shelves off after realizing an "oops" moment, wedges work great. Found that one out after making his shelves for our nook 😬 turned out great afterwards tho!
I love the use of the 3d printed jigs. Very clever
Your enthusiasm is incredible, thank you for the great content.
This is art! My favorite series on youtube by far
It's just a little detail but I love how the shelf is aligned with the horizontal bar of the window! It all blends in that way. Beautifully made!!
WORK combined with LOVE
This is awesome! I admire the innovation and determination. You did an amazing job!
I like the LED strip & the curved shape. I made shelves with compound curves by hand in the 80s, I'd forgotten all about it.
Love molly bolts. I mounted a huge heavy TV on a wall. They are amazingly strong. Make sure you get that special tool to expand them though.
I absolutely love the idea of 3D printing one-off guides/tools for this....genius.
I like how you show how you work through problems! Great video!
Dude I never thought about printing guides for Flush Cut Router bits. That is a great idea!
So well executed. Bravo!
Wow what an amount of work, but what an amazing result!
The result was awesome! Good for you!! I enjoy your video about your passion for different tries and ideas. Thanks for sharing. Love your experimental spirit:)
Very cool! I especially appreciate the applied technology of using 3D printed jigs on-demand to assist with precision hand-tool work. Fantastic job!
One of the best project ever seen. I mean all the apartment renovation is insane.
Great job man 🎉
incredible! and very well planned. Congrats!

Surprisingly well done and good looking 👍😊
I like how 3D print the jigs, awesome idea.

I had a look at your website. Your prices are very reasonable. Great videos.
Great video as always. Can you give the reference for the LED strip pls ?
Same. It's the first thing I went looking for in the list of materials/links.
That’s really awesome, surprised you would not have added blocking in the planning stage to account for this, but I guess with metal studs that might have had its own challenges. I’ve had too many issues with drywall anchors/toggle bolts to fully trust them for this kind of application
Skilled woodworking, and engineering but also beautiful designs.
What a beautiful project
I'm loving this trick, I'm definitely going to do it at my place. Thanks for the inspiration !
This video gave the inspiration I needed for a much simpler jig to drill out the centres of acrylic tubes to the correct diameter perfectly straight thank you!
i always learn so much watching your videos. thank you.
Very cool concept, nice to see how you made it happen. Thanks!
This is out of my league. Great work man
Magnets are your friend to find metal studs, great video
Nice thin floating shelf 2.0. I just moved to a new house and really want to give these thing floating shelves a try. Your 3D files seem like they will be very handy. Thank you.
Kick ass Alex!! Amazing work per usual. Love your content!! Thank you!!!!!!!!
Absolutely beautiful. Super appreciate all the time you put into designing and printing the 3D parts for your projects!

Felicidades, tienes mucho talento!
The way you use 3d printing for jigs etc. Is genius
3d printing jigs for precision is genius. Great result! Just discovered your chanel and subscibed. Thank you Alex!

Really clever how you made 3D printed router guides to create the curved recess for the led track 😊
I love your content and design by play workflow!!!
Congrats man, I just discover your videos, that’s insanely awesome. Congrats 👏
Amazing work.
very impressive ! Useful and practical tips. Keep up the great work!!
Nicely thought through, with a very clean, elegant look!
That looks amazing.
When everything is finished I will need a tour of the whole house and this complete series in one video
you are a professional brother.
I was looking for how to make thinner floating shelves. Ty! I was expecting some negative drawbacks but so far it looks like theres nithing wrong making them that thin.
First time seeing your page!. I love it!.
I love innovations!.
You made it look easy ! its definitely not easy working on a curve.
Best video about a shelf I've ever seen :)
Learned a lot! I’ll try the shelf but no curb because I don’t have all the tools!
I love your attention to detail!
I am impressed...really..great work
Super clean look. I love it.
I love all of your project, you are the best 👍
Custom jigs sure are helpful
Great job, Al !

Pretty cool how you attached the shelf. Well done!
Looks great!
Great video and awesome design!
Tout est très instructif dans cette vidéo, c'est très inspirant : Bravo !
Source of inspiration!!! Surprise us with new projects
Im impressed😮 again and again and again...
This looks amazing! Great work!
But as you planned this during the building of the wall, the board could be integrated into the wall.

Gotta love the effort! Very inspiring, Alexandre👌
I am very happy too, from this project. Super cool!
