Thank you for Watching! Tune in next week for more videos :) - Хобби
The effort you invest to make these customized projects is truly admirable.
I know right!
*Fabulous* video. No garbage music, no random babble to just hear your own voice, no slow-watching you turn screws and LOTS of good, direct information. Subscribed!
Cool trick with the anchors. Also useful when installing rivet nuts in tight spaces, if there is no room to use the proper tool.
For anyone that may need to get the shelves off after realizing an "oops" moment, wedges work great. Found that one out after making his shelves for our nook 😬 turned out great afterwards tho!
Fabulous. The most over engineered and perfectly executed building of shelves. A true OCD love affair with doing things right. Love the 21st century craftmanship.
That’s really awesome, surprised you would not have added blocking in the planning stage to account for this, but I guess with metal studs that might have had its own challenges. I’ve had too many issues with drywall anchors/toggle bolts to fully trust them for this kind of application
I had a similar issue with my kitchen wall cabinet lights being a bit cool, so warmed them up with some thin strips of orange lighting gel under the diffuser. Works a treat!
On occasion I have a project that I’m stumped on either bc I can’t imagine a solution myself or inspiration for a look, etc. and you or another woodworker like Michael Alm, Keith Johnson, Bourbon, etc. will magically come up with a solution or inspiration around the same time and I can’t tell you how appreciative I am for the ability that you all can share and are willing to share so much knowledge, problem solving, design ideas, etc. For ie, I’m building a solid hickory vanity and getting close to putting finish on and also need to come up with a simple, fairly thin shelf that’ll also hold hooks for towels below but can’t seem to find a rounded edge or something to die into the wall… well you just helped me to see a bigger radius would look beautiful to do just that so thank you and at some point when I build cabinets for tool storage I will be purchasing your organization bins, etc. I love your integrated cabinet handles with the plastic… looks stunning and clean. Anyways we appreciate your hard work and know it’s not as simple as turning on the camera and magically everything pulls together as it takes hard work, dedication, money, I’m sure a lot of risk in the beginning, etc. to bring all this content to reality so thank you again
It must be a pleasure to wake-up every morning in your hand crafted home!
You're a mad 3D printing Scientist. Great work as always!
Even the simplest piece of woodworking you make ends up looking amazing, thanks for being so inspiring
I'm a professional carpenter and I'm always making bespoke projects for clients. I absolutely love what you have done here. Attention to detail is fantastic. I wish you could come to my workshop to make me some jigs ha ha.
This is the first of your videos I have seen, so I'm looking forward to checking out your channel and your website.
I’m telling you…I have no engineering smarts and I absolutely LOVE watching how your brain works on how to solve these issues…really inspiring. Thanks!
I absolutely love the idea of 3D printing one-off guides/tools for this....genius.
That kitchen sure does look pretty
It's just a little detail but I love how the shelf is aligned with the horizontal bar of the window! It all blends in that way. Beautifully made!!
the value of this apartment is skyrocketing!!! Super clean!!
You could have integrated dust collection into you're drill guide so it wouldn't make such a mess, maybe for the next time.
It’s always one of my favorite YT moments seeing one of your new videos popping up on my feed
Springback: It might interest you to know:
I used to build Four Slide tooling. It's an ancient Pre CNC technology of bending metal wire or other things made of metals. The slides came in from four directions for complex shapes.. I'd design and build the tooling and work out the problem you had there called springback. Weld run a shipment of wire and send the finished parts out. Then when they job was ordered again, the old tooling was no good. Thisis because no two batches of steel wire have the exact same springback characteristics.
Absolutely beautiful. Super appreciate all the time you put into designing and printing the 3D parts for your projects!
An easy trick to bend metal, especially when the wall are thin is to full the pipe on the profile with weather, and put it in the freezer, when the ice is created start to bend and boom.
incredible! and very well planned. Congrats!
Attention to detail was great in this project. Respect.
WORK combined with LOVE
Very cool! I especially appreciate the applied technology of using 3D printed jigs on-demand to assist with precision hand-tool work. Fantastic job!
I love watching the problem solving processes.
Also the shelf looks amazing 😍
love to see you happy...I was following your journey to makeover your apartment since the beginning... you are awesome AL...
At least one of my youtubers doesn't end up with crappy looking half assed solutions, because it would make a easier video. I really like the extra mile you've gone there. Congrats to this absolute unit of a shelve board. Perfect execution. Also, you're english has improved a lot, since you uploaded the dust extractor videos - which was the reason I subscribed a long time ago. Back then it was a chore to listen to you, nowadays it's a joy.
I like the LED strip & the curved shape. I made shelves with compound curves by hand in the 80s, I'd forgotten all about it.
Another stroke of beautifully executed craftsmanship and skill Mr Chappel. 🙌
That looks super nice. Just one quick suggestion for your "square hole drill tool" ... maybe a model with replaceable guides different diameter drill bits. Just add a thread to the outer-face of the drill guide so that it threads into the rest of the frame.
And, for your drill bit and slotted set holders ... how about a version with a clear perspex lid to prevent the bits from falling out? Maybe drill a hole in the perspex for a nedymium magnet to keep the lid safely closed :)
I have ideas ... just no skills or hardware for 3D printing - but maybe my ideas can help your ideas (which, ironically, is what you try to do for everyone else, so it's nice for Karma to return back to you 😁).
Nice!
Unbelievable work! Lucky you built the wall behind so it was nice and square!
It looks so cool! And I keep getting amazed at your engineering skills just looking at all of the tools you are making!
One of the best project ever seen. I mean all the apartment renovation is insane.
Great job man 🎉
This is art! My favorite series on youtube by far
Good to see your back to smaller projects.
the end of the led's on the curved side casts a really bright spot on the wall. Perhaps remove the last 1-2 LED's. That woud create a "luminance taper" as the embedded light gets close to the wall
The result was awesome! Good for you!! I enjoy your video about your passion for different tries and ideas. Thanks for sharing. Love your experimental spirit:)
I’ve really enjoyed the few videos of yours I’ve watched so far. I’m probably not getting into 3d printing (light exposure in the past, but I’m just not much on computers), but I’m subscribing anyway. I like your ingenuity and your presentation is clean, concise, and very watchable. Keep up the great work, sir! Looking to build the older chamfered shelf soon for under my bedroom tv. Thanks for the inspiration and clever instruction.
This video gave the inspiration I needed for a much simpler jig to drill out the centres of acrylic tubes to the correct diameter perfectly straight thank you!
Wow, providing the tools for free! I'm printing these today. I want to make some of these for my workshop, strong enough to hold my hand-held power tools. Thank you so much for the files! I did see your first video on the floating shelves, and this just takes it up a lot! Well done!
This was super legit. Amazing. I am such a sucker for solid white oak.
I love the use of the 3d printed jigs. Very clever
I have no idea why this channel has never come up in my suggested videos until today, but... Holy sh!t. The rapid fire nature of the edits is perfect. And the seemingly German accent is so mild that you hardly notice it! Of course, it's possible there is zero German accent here, but he looks exactly like some German folks I've met (right down to the way he ties back his hair and of course the eyebrows). But I digress.
7:25 Right before the heat gun came out, I was thinking.... "Heat gun that sh!t." I could see working in a shop with this guy would be great.
8:58 Same! I build cat trees as part of my business model (I take care of cats). As a result of immersing myself into the world of cat furniture, I've had some requests that have taken my skills to the next level. My motto is, "Challenge accepted." I'm at the point now where someone can show me a picture of something, we discuss overall dimensions, and I can build it. I got a request last week to build something I've never built before, but honestly it will come down to just making it look good. All the pieces of the puzzle are already in my set of skills. It comes down to communicating with the client to make sure what you're building meets their standards.
12:02 I actually have a drill attachment that turns it into a drill press, which in turn allows me to drill perfectly at 90 degrees! That's a cool idea though.
17:25 I could argue that it would be less effective if it was too easy to slide into place.
cool project again alex. Love the clean lines it has and the light is good colour for the kitchen. I have and use your 3D printed storage boxes in my workshop, so am looking forward to seeing what new designs you have added.
What a beautiful project
And great to see you back in your shop!
Dude that's one beautiful shelf, I especially appreciate the effort gone into the curve with the lighting strip..... I also love using threaded rod for floating shelves....
Alternatively you could have used a LED strip with a silicone outer layer that is flexible. The smallest on I know of is by Ostermann and requires a groove 4mm wide and 8mm deep.
Yes, would have saved a lot of time and afford with the curved groove!
At equal power those would run really hot and not last as long. The aluminium profile is important if you want them to last a long time.
Nicely thought through, with a very clean, elegant look!
Super clean look. I love it.
Magnets are your friend to find metal studs, great video
The way you use 3d printing for jigs etc. Is genius
I like how 3D print the jigs, awesome idea.
Dude I never thought about printing guides for Flush Cut Router bits. That is a great idea!
Your enthusiasm is incredible, thank you for the great content.
i always learn so much watching your videos. thank you.
So well executed. Bravo!
I cannot wait for the kitchens stuff!!
Source of inspiration!!! Surprise us with new projects
I like how you show how you work through problems! Great video!
This looks amazing! Great work!
But as you planned this during the building of the wall, the board could be integrated into the wall.
Also why are you not using the outer wall next to the window as support? As it touches this wall too?
When everything is finished I will need a tour of the whole house and this complete series in one video
First time seeing your page!. I love it!.
I love innovations!.
Love molly bolts. I mounted a huge heavy TV on a wall. They are amazingly strong. Make sure you get that special tool to expand them though.
Lots of information with a lot of joy and great professionalism
Thank you so much for all that amount of information
Молодец, очень щепетильно и продуманно подходишь к делу!
This is an awesome concept! Great job Alexandre!
I'm loving this trick, I'm definitely going to do it at my place. Thanks for the inspiration !
What a beautiful project
When you were dealing with the aluminium track collapsing during bending I was like "Oh, Martin from Wintergatan had a similar issue, he used an insert to support the walls!"
Ov really? I must have missed that one... Could have saved me some time :p
Nice thin floating shelf 2.0. I just moved to a new house and really want to give these thing floating shelves a try. Your 3D files seem like they will be very handy. Thank you.
I love your attention to detail!
I love the bending jig!
As usual (but never gets old) you have another great video. I always can't wait until the next one.
Skilled woodworking, and engineering but also beautiful designs.
Job well done! Looks great! 🪵🔨
Kick ass Alex!! Amazing work per usual. Love your content!! Thank you!!!!!!!!
Oh you are from Norway. Didn't know that but that explains the "Biltema" heatgun 😊. Love the channel. Keep up the good work. Greetings from Sweden :)
Great video as always. Can you give the reference for the LED strip pls ?
Same. It's the first thing I went looking for in the list of materials/links.
This is out of my league. Great work man
Always impressed with your work!
Beautiful wood and very modern project. Well done 😊
I love all of your project, you are the best 👍
Started by talking about building a floating shelf. My head instantly thinks about how you already did a whole video on this a few years back when you moved into the new shop and made your whole wall ready for your shop/office
That looks amazing.
Very cool concept, nice to see how you made it happen. Thanks!
Beautiful looking shelf! I totally thought you were going to use the piece of tape as a template for the holes on the shelf.
You got new birthmark under the eye since the last video
Is that a kitchen or a futuristic show room? Looks so clean and tidy, and I am all for it.
Oh also beautiful, love the contrast between the wood and worktops.
This is the first of your videos I have seen, amazing video and stunning project. Liked, Subscribed at your channel and activated notification bell. Thanks for sharing.
Congrats man, I just discover your videos, that’s insanely awesome. Congrats 👏
Best video about a shelf I've ever seen :)
Really clever how you made 3D printed router guides to create the curved recess for the led track 😊
Wow what an amount of work, but what an amazing result!
juhuuuu... supernice
So clean !
Pretty cool how you attached the shelf. Well done!
Gotta love the effort! Very inspiring, Alexandre👌
pure genius
