    Some sources this same Cniva was defeat and killed by the Emperor Aurelian, but it is more likely it probably this was a different Cniva or probably his heir.

      True and Emperor Aurelian was a keen observant that he watched every detailed battle so when his enemies attempt to reused or tricked him with different twist to lured him he was prepared and the battle was finally favored into Romans once again after series of defeats done Before him

    Despite the strong brainwashing during my history studies with a specialization in ancient history, I identify with the Goths wholeheartedly. A part of their blood now flows in my veins and their holy places and burial grounds still exist around the place where I live.

    Poor Boudica should engage the battle with the very same tactic like this one or Teutoburg Forest War. I am deeply saddened every time i remember how they lost around 100K warrior, including women, chilren, old people and even tha animal packs. Such a horrible and devastating end for such a chivalrous, brave act..

    I believe the Germanic warriors learned from losing to better battle tactics … they figured what worked and what didn’t and then ADAPTED better strategy so that they eventually would WIN … wish I could go back and teach my people earlier so the Romans could experience great losses like we eventually did at Teutoburg Forest !!!

    Goths learned lessons from earliar 9 AD from battle of tuterbergaveld in German forest, Herman of Cherusci (Arminias). skirmishing, and bottlenecking the roman army into small areas..

    Il problema del tardo impero romano era soprattutto dovuto dal suo esercito, all' inizio i legionari erano soprattutto Romani e combattevano per Roma, poi come tutti gli imperi in decadenza, veniva fatto un uso spropositato di soldati mercenari che combattevano esclusivamente per denaro

      Im dritten Jahrhundert bestand die Armee größtenteils aus Soldaten der Ilyrischen Provinzen. Das waren alles Römische Bürger. Erst am Ende des 3. Jahrhunderts b.z.w in der Spätantike hat man vermehrt auf barbarische Söldner/Feorderati zurückgegriffen. Da waren die Söldner an sich nicht das Problem solange diese Söldner bezahlt wurden. Sondern das die Söldner ab dem 5. Jahrhundert von fast nur noch von ihren eigenen Anführern Kommandiert und Entlohnt wurden. Die vornehmlich ihre politischen Interessen verfolgten. In Ostrom konnte man dieses Problem beheben und die Söldner wieder unter die dierekte Staatliche Kontrolle bringen. Das hat dann bis zum Ende der Muslimischen Expansion funktioniert. Weil zu dem Zeitpunkt nicht mehr genug Geld da war um ein großes Söldnerheer zu unterhalten.

    Вообще-то римляне не только тогда проиграли, они полностью проиграли! Германцы - это славяне, а возглавлял их князь Герман Арий. Да и не только Рим отгрёб, там много кто отгрёб. Да и римляне были никакими бойцами, по сравнению с германцами. Не надо расхваливать римлян-хэллин. Ладно даны были на стороне германцев. А франки причём? Это же иудеи как и римляне!

      Ersten waren es im dritten Jahrhundert nicht die Spätrömischen Legionen. Weil die Spätantike erst nach dem 3. Jahrhundert begann. Zweitens Waren die Spätantiken Legionen nicht 10.000 sondern eher 1.000 Mann Stark. Drittens handelte es sich bei den Legionen des 3. Jahrhunderts immernoch um die Einheiten die Seit der späten Republik etwa 5.000-6.000 Mann stark waren. Aber zu diesem Zeitpunkt in der Realität warscheinlich in verschiedenen Vexilatio die jeweils mehrere hundert Mann groß waren aufgeteilt wurden. Die wiederum auf mehreren Grenzabshnitten verteilt waren.

    Julius Caesar, Gaius Seutonius Paulinus, Scipio Africanus, Trajan, and Titus Manlius Imperiosus Torquatus must have been turning in their graves while watching this battle from the afterlife. Meanwhile, Boudica, Vercingetorix, Hannibal Barca, Mithridates VI Eupator, and Gellius Egnatius are laughing in their graves.

      @ Except that those Roman commanders lived at a time when Rome was at the zenith of its power and influence, whereas during this historical era the Roman Empire and its successor state the Western Roman Empire were in terminal decline.

      By the way there were not really any successor states called "western Roman empire" and "Eastern Roman Empire",both were simply the Roman empire,and that was also how Romans themselves viewed it-two parts of one Roman world.
      Terminology of western/eastern Roman empire,especially if propagated as two completely stand alone states is a huge modern over-simplification.

      @@paprskomet Only the Western Roman Empire was considered truly Roman because they spoke Latin. The Byzantine Empire was Greek-speaking, which meant that it was (alongside the Carolingian Empire, Holy Roman Empire, Ottoman Empire, Principality of Moscow, Tsardom of Russia, and Russian Empire) not Roman. And yes, Rome was already in terminal decline by this point in time, because it kept losing to the barbarian peoples such as the Goths (and later the Visigoths and Ostrogoths after the Gothic people split into separate tribes), Vandals, Saxons, Alans, Huns, Lombards, Slavs, Proto-Vikings (the Danes, Geats, and Jutes), and Franks, amongst others.
