The funny thing is that the banjo playing in this is super authentic pre bluegrass Appalachian style banjo. I love it. Awesome rendition of John Henry.
I started out playing Earl Scruggs 3 finger style and had a ton of fun with it till I really understood Old Time as a genre. It's not obvious if you're unfamiliar with it. Dock Boggs, Frank Proffitt, Tommy Jarrell, Roscoe Holcomb, Stanley Hicks, and Fred Cockerham (to name a few), changed the way I play and even think about music. Most of these musicians carry a unique quality that can't be imitated or copied. You pretty much have to be born in that time with their culture to sound like that. - Thanks for the thoughtful comment!

Honestly came across this completely by accident and I'm going to throw these onto a playlist on Spotify for when I'm just tooling around in Starfield or Shipbreaker. Love how relaxing this is.

Growing up in SE Kentucky hearing bluegrass music most of my life with family members playing and recording some albums. This by far is the most soothing music I’ve listened to in my nearly 50 years of life.
I’m also from eastern Ky and can picture sitting on to of a hill in the winter listening to this when it starts snowing and everything is deafening silent except for this banjo playing gently!!!
No matter how thin the atmosphere, we can still make it wiggle by plucking some strings. Though playing through the suitgloves is an acquired talent. We made our robot hum to itself for it's birthday, it may have only been once, but it happened. We should always bring music with us.
funny. i was just looking for some ambient space banjo and noticed a distinct lack. here this is two days later. learning the banjo myself, maybe i should try my hand in this incredibly niche genre
I took a break from making this music a while back... But recent interest in my channel has brought me back on here producing more! Currently working on my next video🧑🚀
I am continuously baffled and impressed at the seemingly random locations I keep encountering you guys that have nothing to do with giant monsters. Just good taste, I guess.
Gotta love the artwork. Here's a guy wearing a space suit; camping next to a forested lake and camp fire. I wonder where the banjo player gets oxygen. Don't pick the strings to long before the sun goes super nova =] I like outer wilds also.
I been out here awhile. Its quiet. Not like back home quiet. Back home the wind whispered through the leaves on the trees, and the wheat in the fields. Here...there aint nothin. Somethin' bout the atmosphere...i dunno. Im keepin' focused most the time, but the quiet gets to me and i dream of home. I see the amber waves and the farmers harvestin. I feel the cool breeze and i feel the warm sun melt over me like butter on mammas pancakes. God i miss you mama. Only a few more rotations and we can go out again like we used to before daddy passed. Like a family.
What you have here is a bonafide sitar album... I had no idea a spacey banjo would sound so much like a sitar. This sounds like Ravi Shankar... well I'm off to get some tikka masala and aloo gobi. Yeah that's right I do food reviews while on the toilet.
A song for when space expansionism is on full effect andf the space cowboyws are out there, lurking for gold and uranium mines and running supplies from colony to colony.

Probably somebody who saw the box art of the snes game phalanx lol. It's what I immediately thought of when I saw the video. Its one of the most bizarre box arts of all time. It shows an old guy with a banjo sitting outside in a rocking chair under the night sky with a spaceship flying by. The guy with the banjo has absolutely nothing to do with the game, it's just a regular side scrolling space ship shooter.

I am totally inexperienced with instruments and I get many would tell me to elarnt he guitar first. But I know myself and know that it is best to just go all in with something I really want. So which should I go for to come closest to this sound? :)
