    Having flown both, the A380 is just too good of an aircraft. That combined with the service and food at emirates, Emirates makes economy feel like a higher class while Qatar is like any other airline.

      Having flown in emirates first class(dxb-lax) and business class(bxx-dxb) on the a380 and Qatar airways q suites 2 times between lax to Doha, and their first class once, I find that Qatar offers a far better business class than emirates and I would honestly argue that they offer better food than emirates first class. Personally I’m not a big fan of caviar and I don’t drink alcohol so it honestly doesn’t make much of a difference when it comes to emirates. Sure showers and more privacy and bigger seats are great but it’s really more excessive than necessary. Also personally I liked Qatar airways first class lounge more simply for it’s architectural beauty and quietness, but I would say that food is better on emirates lounges with wagyu burgers and gourmet meals. Also the quiet rooms in Qatar lounge was far better but then again emirates gives you the option for a free hotel room so it kind of evens out but I would’ve preferred if it was inside the lounge. Also there’s obviously the value, overall the Qatar flight was about 60% the price of the first class flight on emirates from personal experience which is quite balanced I would say. Overall I think flying Qatar business is thee way to go and I plan on using them in the future for connections from lax. Personally I have never flown economy on either airline so I can’t comment on that but for premium cabins I think Qatar wins

    One big reason for Emirates’s strategy is their hub airport in Dubai. It only has 2 runways so they can’t just add more flights like Qatar. Emirates instead has to add seats through airplane size. Another difference is that Emirates focuses on having first and buisness class on the same planes when Qatar has gone with having a more advanced business class.

    Why are flight attendants at Qatar only allowed to work on specific airplanes? In the US, flight attendants are able to work flights from the A319 all the way to the 77W and every plane in between at their airline.

    My problem with Qatar is this. When flying to a destination from Heathrow for example, it is always via Doha, but with unfeasibly short connection times between landing in Doha and checking in for your onward flight. So unless you are in the first few passengers to get off of the plane in Doha, you are going to miss your ongoing flight. This means that you have to go to their desk in Doha transit lounge and be allocated a new onward flight, this can be up to 12 hours later. So you are held "hostage" in the transit lounge (spending money) for several hours, and you eventually arrive at your final destination very tired, and you lose the first day of your visit due to lateness and tiredness. I'm pretty sure this is done on purpose, in order to get you to spend money in the transit lounge whilst waiting.

      This is completely not true, I recently flew Heathrow to Doha and then onto Brisbane, we landed an hour behind schedule and my onward Brisbane flight had already started boarding. Qatar always have a log of onward passengers who will be joining the boarding queue from another plane and not from check-in, they always know when a plane is delayed and when it is possible with minimal delays they wait for every single passenger. This was the case for me and for that I will always fly Qatar long haul.

      @ivorgotten2368 Год назад

      @@jakejones3219 I can only speak of MY personal experience of flying with Qatar around a dozen times between 2010 and 2017. On several occasions I couldn't get to the gate before boarding closed. You may have experienced differently, but that does not make my experience any less valid.

    @11:20 of the US legacy carriers Airbus makes up 52% of DL's current fleet and orders, 48% of UA's current fleet and orders, and AA is the worlds largest operator of A321s. Boeing and Airbus may not be the same aviation ambassadors to the US and Europe that they were in the 70s, 80s, and 90s.

    Dan but if you look at the Emirates Group as a whole you would find that in general Emirates focus is on the large cities where demand is very high where as flydubai focuses on second tier cities and cities where the demand is not much for widebodies to be operated. Qatar airways has repeatedly said that they are not interested in a low cost carrier. So if you were to compare Emirates Group and Qatar Airways Emirates would fare better. Qatar airways may have weathered the pandemic well but it didn't mean they didn't lose money or didn't have a weak spot their investment in other airlines was their biggest weakness in this pandemic as they had to pump money into them throughout the pandemic. So this strategy of Qatar airways to invest in other airlines didn't work well in the pandemic

    You're forgetting a key component in this comparison, Fly Dubai! That's an Emirates subsidiary that is low cost and has an entirely 737 narrow body fleet. So they don't put 777 on destinations with low passenger volumes, they put Fly Dubai's 737 instead. Overall, I believe Emirates/Fly Dubai strategy is more sound.

    Emirates does not offer one consistent product but two. Their economy class has 10-abreast seating both in the A380 (cabin width 6.58m) and the B777 (cabin width 5.86m). To offer the same seat width and elbow space they would have to go 9-abreast in the B777, but apparently the extra width isn't worth enough to economy class passengers to install one fewer seat per row. So you're lucky if you happen to live on a heavily-used route that has A380.
