I do wish we’d get more get more Ken, but he just must not sell as well as the girls do unfortunately. I liked the anniversary dolls for 10 dollars and more diversity than he originally had. Ken nowadays is sooooo much cuter than the creepy 80s and 90s one. I will give Mattel credit in that they consistently make make dolls in the fashionistas line.

I was getting mostly male Integrity Toys for a minute because there are almost no fashionable Ken dolls. I just want more stylish Kens. I want a holiday Ken in a bougie outfit. Thanks for the video! I would have liked to see an Earring Magic Ken re-release for the 60th anniversary. So many of us would buy it. If my dreams come true, there could be a collector version of him. I agree that playline Kens needs better clothes overall. Especially the broad ones! And more pants generally (not sweatpants or shorts). You can find some decent Ken fashion packs (the new one with the pink "Paradise" shirt is cute). The Fashionistas line is offering more diversity and representation with Kens, which is great. I've bought probably 6 of these wheelchair-using made-to-move Kens to rebody various Fashionistas and career dolls with a similar skin tone. The real winner, though, has to be the male BMR dolls (I just wish they had better clothes).

As if this was appropriate for girls to think that’s the way it’s suppose to be. I remember back in the day when Mattel gave Ken a very diverse and impeccable wardrobe. I do however like the Silkstone Kens but not practical for kids to play with Incase the doll is dropped on the floor and something is broken. Going forward, I hope Bill Greening will give Ken a few options of outfits. Great Review, Virtual Hugs from Salt Lake City! PS, Please do a review of the 60th Anniversary Silkstone Ken

i agree, the lack of representantion of men in dolls just feeds a cicle of not having boy dolls, then because of that they dont dell well, then the companies does less boy doll, is simillar to black dolls, but of course for different reasons.
For him costing more, i don't think it's the case, there is a beach line, with 2 ken and 4 barbies, all of then at 5 dollars if i'm not wrong, all of then have 5 points of articulation, but the kens have a ball joint at the head, also the kens have fabric shorts, while the barbies have rooted hair and a painted baiting suit, so i think the price for the rooted hair is equivalent of the more plastic it costs to make a ken, and also cover a fabric shorts. To end, i think is more a question of sale, because it looks like it cost less to make kens then barbies, because of the hair

I have about 18 Kens, between the years of 2018 to the present.
I prefer & find the newer Kens more relatable, because of the detail given to his face sculpts, hair sculpts… the several different body builds, & multitude of melanin levels, eye colours, etc.
Whereas the older “hair-helmet” sculpts of the 90s & earlier were not appealing or relatable… and there was hardly any diversity with him.

I think that’s sad. Being a male doll owner myself, I really dislike how guy dolls aren’t made like girl dolls. And while yeah, barbies are fashion dolls, G.I. Joe’s could be the same (since they get dressed up and such). But with Ken....he isn’t getting the MTM and body type treatment. I mean they have many female dolls with new body and hair types and the guys have molded hair and maybe one dark skin everyone once and a while. Not many men of color (meaning like black, Asian, ect) and with thin-ish bodies (which are insane).
I think they needs to promote him. Give him more room to show off. I feel like if you don’t promote him more, he won’t get out there. And they need darker skin kens with different hair types (I know that black guys have hair that is like darker skin girl dolls) so a kid with them can feel represented.
And the fashion isn’t great. I mean guys fashion isn’t amazing in general, but guys also have amazing fashion. I mean I play a game Persona 5 Royal and the protagonist of that game has fashion that is casual, but not bland. Honestly, that game has great fashion. Also, why can’t their be Non-Binary dolls? Or people who don’t dress with one gender in mind. I hate that all the feminine dolls have very girly and tight fashion and the guys have boring fashion. Why not anything that is cool?
I get tired with the same old thing. Barbie has just followed trends from day one and they really need to make them.

The majority of doll buyers are buying for girls and little girls don’t want male dolls. Collectors are not the majority of doll buyers!

I so agree with you. There are a few fashionista boy dolls that are different than the normal Ken.I have a pastel purple haired guy who kind of reminds me of a Kpop style and there is also a dog trainer set with a slender tan south Asian look that I want to get eventually.I am holding out for the day Barbie has non-binary dolls too .So sick of only being able to get very overly feminine styles or masculine Ken style clothes ..nothing in between .

@@carolyn6689 Yeah, I hate that all the dolls have to stay in one box (lol). I really dislike that they barely do Asian like dolls. They’ve done BTS dolls, so I don’t see how hard it is to do an Asian guy.

I don't have that much ken dolls, I only have 1 fashionista ken. because of their articulation (which is basic), that's why I don't buy them as much as I do with the Made to move dolls/ BMR ken dolls. And I agree that ken needs to have his own Made to Move line.
    *btw sorry for my English*

That's the same thing with the Monster High boys, cause you know boy dolls don't do well cause a lot more people like the female dolls cause they are more fashionable. I don't know I like Ken and other male dolls wish there was like more of a male doll line.

Mattel needs to stop treating Ken like an accessory. Besides the fact that everyone, kids included, want more Ken dolls and want better quality in them, sending the message to kids that a man/boyfriend is just another accessory isn't a good look.

The biggest problem with mattel is kens clothes arent "one size fits all" like barbies and half the time the fashion packs for kin don't say sizes the next problem is how they advertise him they really should do something different like I've been getting bored of ken being barbies boyfriend as he legit isn't cared for like the recent barbie movie princess adventure barbie had ken in the sidelines and ignored him like I get its suppose to be funny but it comes off rude then the fashionistas the little cardboard backs for the kens, barbies are different with barbie saying you can be anything while ken has nothing which leads to a conclusion that he is a accessory as Chelsea, skipper, Stacie have the you can be anything but not ken I get that the whole thing is girl power but like it also is leaving people out an example is when ever after high rebooted with the "princesses are powerful" line which is like so boys can't be princesses? Like theres too many problems with how mattel treats ken dolls as half the time their shoes are basic, always reused an example are his dress shoes that been recolored in every color possible.Oh and another problem is his muscle body like the chest is getting erased slightly but the arms are still muscular and that isn't what a kid is going to look for. Also anyone remember when ken actually had hair like my gosh like one of the fashionistas have hair from the 2020's but one that's represent every boy that has actual hair than plastic.Another thing is their not even inviting him for barbie extra wave 2 like men can look extra but I guess people will say its barbie's line not ken's if thats so why does all his boxes well now bags have barbie than the old ken font.
Well anyway this video was great with the facts, info.

What I don't understand is that they have made a articulated ken doll fashionista in a wheelchair but how come they don't make them all articulated? If they are going to make articulated made to move Barbie dolls than why don't they make them all articulated? I'm getting tired of barbies that are just straight leg with no articulation what so ever. I wish they would bring back the bend and click knees to barbies and ken dolls again. I miss the old school Barbie and ken dolls with the bendable knees. I'm tired of the hollowed out plastic barbies that they make nowadays and the cheap ugly printed on outfits too! Im saying this because I buy up Barbie and ken dolls and repurpose them and make them look like various Tim Burton movie characters. A lot of the time I have to buy ken dolls brand new I don't have any luck finding them at yard sales or at thrift stores. Barbies I can find at almost every thrift store and yard sales but hardly any ken dolls though. My local Wal-Mart I think is having a Barbie shortage because I was over there today and they only had two ken dolls available a African American ken fashionista doll and a Caucasian farmer ken doll. No swim trunk ken dolls at all or and other ken fashionista dolls available all except for the African American one that I bought today? Is everybody's Wal-Mart store having a Barbie shortage right now or just mine is having one?

All boy dolls are criminally underrated for bogus reasons such as because they are boy dolls and not as fun or cute as the girl dolls which I think just isn’t true
Dolls such as long haired real rooted Ken which we see in the fashionista doll line and in the bmr doll line are really good and have similar hair and feel to girl dolls
Furthermore then just Ken or Barbie
Other boy dolls can slay just as much as the girls
Such as monster high dolls like invisibilly, Nathan rot, etc you can’t tell me those aren’t fun fashionable high quality boy dolls that got overshadowed by the girls bc dolls just have to be marketed for only girls and collectors only want pretty girls dolls like come on it’s 2021 boys can be as pretty as girls if you want them to be.
Not just monster high or Barbie tho
Rainbow high has a boy doll too river Kendall and some collectors don’t like him and I don’t get it they say things like he’s not as fun as the girls or he looks to girly and I understand some of it but still he’s an amazing doll and Boys need to stop being compared to girls if you want them to be the same level of fashionable as a girl then make them it’s 2021 boys can or should be able to wear whatever a girl does if they want or you want them to.
    Other good boy dolls include
    Slate from cave club
    All the bratz boys
And I’m sure many more I’m forgetting
But boy dolls need to be more loved people tend to just assume they are the lesser cute version of girls but the reality is there just as good perhaps better because having a boy can mean representation for a whole new gender while simultaneously normalizing the idea girls can play with or enjoy boy dolls and that boys and girls are surpris surprise not too different. Or that boys can play with fashion dolls too by having more options for boy dolls to allow boys to look at them and go “WHOA THIS GIRLY DOLL LINE ISN’T JUST TRYING TO SELLOUT TO GIRLS WHOA.”

The clothe for ken has gone down in years. They use to make suites for them. I think even today babies' dresses are better .do you know the late son of Ruth Handler, ken, was embarrassed that he was associated with a doll with no genitals. The only good ken today might be the 1959 numbers, like the one with bun hairstyle, and the recent nostalgia 1961 silkstone version. For a while they rooted hair into ken I got two older blond hair ken dolls that are rooted. The only recent root was black ken fashionistas. The cheaper anniversary set is moded or painted, but remember this is for kids, not for us adult collectors.
