Just got the call, snow is too thick for work. HB audio drop, half round of cheese, 2 bottles of decent whiskey, ounce of pipesmoke, 14 logs for the hearth, one prime rib for the flame. Well, I guess my night has aligned itself.
Cold day in Houston today. Been cold for days. Only way I have survived this harrowing time is, you guessed it, @HorrorBabble. These stories always warm my heart. Thanks Ian ❤🔥
Cold in Houston Texas. I can't imagine the strength it must take to survive. We're only dealing with -30 windchill in MN 😂 just breaking your balls a bit. These stories are great in every cold. Take care
@@dannyb2783 No i get it. Lol. The thing is, it is usually 100 so when it gets down to 27 with the wind and rain, my body doesn't know what to do. Imagine taking a camel to Antarctica. That's the kind of shock I'm experiencing. Hahahahaha
It's definitely weirdly relative to what you're used to; when winter first comes around (I live in PA), a 30 degree day feels nightmarish. After about a month of getting used to the cold again, it becomes barely noticable and even 20 something degrees feels bearable.
When "Prunes" was uploaded as a separate tale, I ignored it purely because of it's title. How could there be anything good about prunes? Now, after two listens, I reckon it is one of the best-told stories I have heard in a long time. Any more from this author??
@@robotrabbit5712 i did. nothing to report. i can only guess that prunes is a work by HB under a pen name. all one can hope for is that he comes back to it! I didnt get into his serial(forget what its called now)but this one Hooked me! ....and i dont even Like Prunes!!! lol
I'm not sure I fully understand what happened at the end of ghosts. So Fjord cracked after fixing the problem because the mounting stress had effectively worn down his sanity causing a delayed homicidal outburst?
Near the beginning, it was said that psychopaths couldn't be cured. He didn't realize that ford was psychopathic(if that's the word he was using). So he wasn't fully cured, it just went dormant.
@ixisnyx6860 That sounds like a pretty succinct summary of what happened! As the other commenter mentions, Fjord identified his psychological profile as the "schizoid" type, leaving us to realize the deeper horror in store when the Integrators incorporate the effects of what has happened! 😬🫣😶🌫️
I've loved Arctic horror stories ever since seeing 'The Thing' as a kid.
Thanks for your work!
Same!
Oh boy have you read Dark Matter by Michelle Paver yet??
It’s perfect. I want horror on a far away freezing planet. Any body horror in far flung destinations. The further the bettter
Listening to this while coming home in windy and cold London. Gives literal chills.
are literal chills the same as...chills ? ie gives me chills.
Miserable rainy day here in Dublin love your content 🇮🇪

Cold in Oklahoma too.
Is it still cold?
Perfect comp list for these negative temps I've been in!

There are a couple more stories I believe -- one of them being a follow-up of sorts to this.
Whats the follow up called and will you be doing it?
@@barebonesmusic6725 try looking up the author, C. P. Howard

@@mortuarycookiezshane4192 that's cool...I find myself going between reading and listening...
These are great stories...with great narrators
Are they physical books? I love Ian's stuff but I've never read any. I wonder what the difference would be. I bet I would read it in Ian's voice!
Mine are Kindle. @@th0m_vi0lence3

Listening from the ukwales❤
These were such good stories!
Living in Murmansk, it's horror at the pole 247
A curious location, indeed!
As someone who is type 2 bipolar, "Ghost" is the most terrifying ghost story I've ever heard...because it's at least a plausible possibility
Chilling!
Thank you!!
Thank you ❤
Saffron Gouda! Those two ingredients only ever combined by the hands of men long since possessed by the darkest and most forbidden of culinary arts!

There are types of stories that are effective. On ships. Lighthouses. Now the cold of winter, polar isolation.
I loved "prunes"
Will you be doing a follow-up to it? Are there more works by the author?
There are a couple more -- one being a follow-up to Prunes.
I can't get enough of the Poles ❄❄🌬... Arctic Poles people!!!!! 😆❄
This was in my recommendations this morning to listen to. Ironic since its -17 degrees outside in Ohio right now
Hey- regarding channel Membership- what is a, "clean read"?
Hello! It's just a recording stripped of sound effects and/or music.
@@HorrorBabble thanks so much for responding!
The time codes seem to be wrong. Ghost is closer to 00:00:38.
Thank you! Corrected. I'd marked it at 38 minutes by mistake.
Ghosts and such😮
✌
Who wrote Horror At The Poles? Couldn’t find the author. Thanks so much for the wonderful stories.
Thanks for listening! See the video description.
@@HorrorBabble Think you missed it out. Or has my eyesight got worse?
It's all there in the description. Just below the chapter times.
Ghost doesn't start 38 min in.
"He was a bitter misogynist" lol atleast he's honest! 😭😂
Horror at the Poles? Is this about that roadtrip to Poland?
😆
I save this one for a heatwave.
